  1. So Pubby, if a local pundit posts on his blog, that I, by name, am a Democrat, can I go after him ? I have never been a member of the Democratic Party and in fact HAVE been a member of the Republican Party in the past 5 years. He labeled me by name as a Democrat on his local website. Should I contact my lawyer ?
  2. And from where I sit, as per the original topic, another "TAX" from our "Conservative" Legislature and state government. If they want to call themselves conservative, then demonstrate "Conservative" tax legislation. Or let the chips fall where they may and admit they are just legislating back door tax increases, which is EXACTLY what they are. And all the while, the hundreds of millions of special interest exemptions are allowed to stand. Granted, times are tough, and the government needs income. But don't call yourself one thing while you do the opposite. Clean up the exemp
  3. We not only have a CHOICE in November, we have a GOOD CHOICE! Thank God Will Avery decided to run for the District 19 Seat.
  4. Tenderloin does not sound bad to me. Especially if you had some of my redwine reduction to pour over it Son came by last night, but did not raid the fridge, or at least did not find my well hidden left overs of standing boneless rib roast, RARE. So it is a no brainer around here tonight. Eat it while it lasts and the bottomless stomach has not discovered it.
  5. Son has been a server at Jim and Nicks since he graduated from high school. He was 18 when he started and he served alcohol. I believe the "smoking" facilities do have an age limit, but best I recall it was also 18.
  6. It takes a lot of work by those on the board, and the sponsoring organizations, and the board getting the sponsoring organizations to do what they say they will do. Our plate just got too full, with Heartwalk, Relay and others. But if you are willing to work they will all accept you with open arms.
  7. Got a canner ? That is what makes it worthwhile and easy.
  8. Got a canner ? That is what makes it worthwhile and easy.
  9. Don't do it. Go and buy a shirt. NG and others on the board have been doing this "event" for years. It is ALOT of work. MrsSurepip and I were on the board at one time back a few years. I can tell you unequivocabally.....go and buy the shirt.
  10. Down, $338. as we had calculated it would.
  11. This was never a problem growing up. We all went to parochial schools, and Novembr 1st is All Saints Day, a Catholic Holiday and the schools were closed. But I do understand at least why many would prefer to move it back a day and let the kids do their thing Saturday night and have Sunday to recuperate. I also assume Trick or Treat Village will be held Saturday at Paulding Meadows as it is always the Saturday before. Many of the folks there are volunteers and it is a bit easier on them for Saturday instead of Sunday, with have to miss church so they can go and take cage of a pagan
  12. You need to be careful while concentrating on carrying something whilst walking down steps. I assume you were NOT chewing gum as well ?
  13. Try making your own stocks as well. Very simple if you have the freezer space to store the bones. I make several different varieties, and it is not really as time consuming as it sounds if you are hanging around the kitchen anyway. It also uses up the celery and carrots which are in the drawer about to get fuzzy. Cost otherwise is just the time. White Stock - raw chicken and turkey bones, necks, giblets, wing tips and backs [i cut the backs out of my turkeys before I cook them unless I am stuffing it]. Fowl - bones from fried or baked chickens and turkeys [can't use smoked]
  14. Saturday appeared to be the largest crowd I have ever seen at Paulding Meadows. Anyone have any information on the gate and how many were there ?
  15. Another lamber out there huh? How'd you cook them ? We like ours RARE on the grill. Such a shame more people don't eat lamb, but then again, that lets me buy it reduced for quick sale!!!
  16. And he was a pretty good QB in his day as well. I don't think the Steelers have had a run like they did when he was the QB. Sorry the Falcons could not pull it off in overtime today.
  17. and are your 18 year old kids registered as well ? We ACTUALLY have a local race contested on the November ballot for half the county. Will Avery running for the district 19 seat in the legislature. Get out and register before it is too late. And vote in November!!!
  18. Glad they have not seen my tomatillos!
  19. No threads or topics on Paulding Meadows??? What was the attendance today compared to yesterday and how did everyone do? We put our time in at the Rotary BBQ booth yesterday and we were pretty beat afterwards. It was busy. And today was .... how ?
  20. Stumbled onto a reduced for quick sale rib roast earlier in the week. $39 marked down to $13. Already had beef [london broil] aging in the fridge, but hey.....I can't pass up a deal like that! So it went along side the broil which we ate Friday night. Did the roast today.....seared it on all 4 sides, let it rest and then put it in at 275F for about 45 minutes and let it just go off automatically and rest. Super rare, juicy and a wonderful taste. Garden green beans, some linguini, salad with garden arugula, and a red wind reduction. Really nice, and the kids did not visit today so WE ge
  21. Like you LTD, I have done my homework on and educated myself on both candidates. I have known Paulette for years. Acutally, the Mrs and I used to participate in her neighborhood Texas Hold Um Friday night card games. I got involved with BOE politics during the School Bond issue 3+ years ago. Paulette had no explanation then as to why she went along with the BOE tax increase EVERY year of her tenure, and when pinned down about the Bond, she went into the "Do it for the kids" canned speech. Never could give me a straight answer when we questioned getting the BOE to resummit the Bond propos
  22. What happened to Premier Ambulance ? They started up here back in 2008 I think, and were all over the place at public events and then they seem to have vanished.
  23. For me, it is time to put the partisan politics aside. The Republican "Do or Die" mentality here in Paulding has left us in the economic shape we are in. Empty houses and no decent jobs. The same group who put us in this place are those who have been in charge of the local GOP for the past 10-15 years. For the most part, they are/were in it for what they could get out of it, not to take a political role to help the citizen/taxpayer/voter of Paulding County. They raped, pillaged and plundered and got very, very wealthy in the process. These are indeed the group backing Paulette. And the
  24. FYI: Mrs Surepip works at the Ag Department and has contact with various folks at the gold dome everyday. She has been there for many years and it is common knowledge she is from Paulding. Virginia Galloway and her Americans for Prosperity group are also well known. So it is not unusual for my wife to get asked about the various goings on within Paulding Politics. Shearin and Galloway have been busy recently lobbying for Paulette. I don't have contact with or peruse any of the political blogs or sites such as the one you put up, especially any tied directly to either political party.
  25. NJ, Funny you should pick this particular website and link. Powell and the Dems have been fussing about Gary Black running for Ag Commissioner while being in charge of the Georgia Agri Business Council for 4 years now. They were raising hell about it in 2006. Now with Irwin retiring, they are really complaining. There is no ethics violation, and being president of the Agri Business Council has indeed provided Gary Black with unique insight into the State's Agri Business. I have personnally known Gary for many years through intertaction within the poultry industry and I believe he
