Paulding County BOC passes millage rate increase
surepip replied to LPPT's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I agree with your facts are facts, but come on now, let's be honest. The bond millage rate for the greenspace should have been raised in 2007, after it was passed. He paid out of reserves. The bond for the millage rate should have been increased summer of 2008, but Hey, it was an election year. So he paid for it out of reserves. Then he hands the empty checkbook to David 6 months later. Do your math and come back with another reason not to blame King Jerry for Austin and company having no choice but to raise the millage. -

One thing I have been wondering: What in the hell did they do to Animal to turn him from the Dark Side ? I mean he was in there with them thick as thieves for years and years, and now he has seen the light, come out into the sun, and found a whole new meaning to life AND politics. And if you knew the old Animal you would know what I am getting at. I mean this was the dude who strangled democrats with his bare hands just because they were there. What happened ? -

I did not say, or insinuate they were "current" officers. They are all part of the Clique set up and perpetuated by Shearin and company. Galloway, Kiehl, Hollinshed et al. And they have stepped back, put in new names, but it is fairly obvious to anyone with their eyes open who is calling the shots. And their chosen BOC candidates lost. But they kick the dead horse none the less in the hopes of still pulling out the District 19 seat. Let's just hope and pray they are unsuccessful at that as well. Time to show them ALL the door. Let Virginia do her Americans for Prosperity, and J -
Howard Maxwell ! Are you ready to step up to the plate ?
surepip replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
No bitterness or anger towards Howard and he has no challengers . As I said, I consider him a friend. But he stayed in Richardson's shadow. You missed my point ENTIRELY. It is time to put partisan politics aside in the district 19 race. Forget who is an "R" or who is a "D", and focus on who will do the best job for the voter taxpayers of Paulding. Richardson did NOTHING for us, the taxpayers. He did his special interest group's concerns, including the Robber Barons. Tell me what he did for us in his tenure under the Gold Dome including his 5 years as Speaker. Was the AGL ladie's gaslin -
From what I am learning, the skeletons in the closet will be known as the "Boneyard" And our local GOP just keeps picking them!

SG, Those behind the scenes were reaping the profits from the absolutely ridiculous blind PRD zonings. Those leading the local GOP were doing what their RBMDs were telling them to do. Now they are grasping at straws. They have finally been beaten at their own game, and no longer are in control. And you will see the fight for the District 19th seat turn into a slugfest, because if and when they lose that on, they are out. The voters saw through King Jerry's smokescreen summer of 2008. But come summer of 2009, David Austin had to pay the bills Jerry left him with, using a depleted -

And the beat rolls on....... In this election, it is time to put partisan politics aside, and do what is best for Paulding. Or continue on with life as usual, following the lead of "The Group". I think Howard is better than that, but I don't know if he is willing to stick his neck out and admit it. And many have admitted before, if faced with Satan as a Republican, and Jesus Christ as a Democrat, they would vote for Satan and declare Long Live Lucifer. It is time in District 19 to put the partisan politics in the trunk, and vote for the better candidate. -
Take it to the Shipping Center in Hiram between the Kroger and Kmartha. Larry and his crew will look after everything for you.

I don't know. After the wonderful weather we have had this summer, I might have to add us to that list. My good friends from Brasil came to the states a couple of weeks ago to Chicago, and I asked if they were going to stop here on the way back. And they said no, the Amazon was a lot closer to their home, and not as Brutal with heat and humidity as Georgia this year. What is the freaking deal ? I have ALWAYS, every, every year had tomatoes through frost time in October. They are all gone and burned up now, with 2-1/2 months to go. Peppers are not much better. I am damned t

OK, there is another thread running where local political comments are coming up that don't belong in that thread. So, before it gets split off by the mods, I thought I would start one. A comment was made regarding "not all of our politicians are that bad", and mentioned Howard. And I like Howard and know him fairly well, and consider him, as well as his family to be friends. But I was always disappointed in his allegiance to the glorious and great Speaker Richardson. And I even asked him before, "Why in the hell did you vote for that?", and he told me "Because that is w

I love the logic. They get 8 years of substantial "hidden" tax increases from Shearin and the Robber Barons, as they churned and churned and jacked up the property values, to increase their profits. Every year the check to the tax man was higher and higher whilst Shearin and company congratulated themselves on not raising taxes. Now we have last year, where we have to step up to the plate and pay for the greenspace and Taj Mahal because Shearin chose to pay the previous 2 years out of "surplus", depleting those accounts before Austin took office. Now we have to start servicing tho -
For those who know my daughter, granddaughter is looking more and more like her mother and grandmother everyday. She spent a month in Mexico with the "other" grandparents, and got back 2 weeks ago. And she is fully wound for sound now, if she can figure out which language she is supposed to speak to whom. And yes, we are indeed proud grandparents. I am now "Abue" or Abway, which she called me the first time I saw her since she returned. Spanish for grandfather is Abuelo. Cute, and I can deal with that. I was not ready for "Granddad or Granpa, or Papa, etc.". And I like

Whitey, He enjoys kicking dead horses. What else can you say. The local GOP is devouring itself, burning itself out, and Melanese, Collins, Galloway, etc. are feeding the flame with gas. I can only hope Howard Maxwell will rise above this conflaguration and come into his own as our senior Representative, truly supporting Paulding county and our needs "instead of supporting the leadership". The BOC tried, patiently, and politely [well except Kirby's outburst, but that was understandable as well] to explain to Melanese why they approved the millage increase 2 weeks ago. Made perfec -
Well, they throw the door open SO wide, it is really hard not to jump right through. They are, and have been for 2+ years shooting themselves in the foot, and elsewhere. As well as eating their own while ostracizing so much of the relatively sane population. There is more to life than My Way, or the WRONG Way. This balance of this election cycle should be alot of fun.

What embarassment ? 5 years of Glenn as Speaker of the House all the while telling us "What AGL Lobbyist ?.....I didn't do anything with her." yeah, right! Then Daniel, and his skeleton had the gossip going under the Gold Dome. Is there something in the Kool Ade the District 19th Reps are drinking ? And just think, with Paulette, we could have our very own Paulding Cynthia McKinney

I agree as well. Other than chastising the ANIMAL, I have chosen to leave this topic alone......

I watched/listened to the tape and found Melanese WAY out of bounds. He was kicking a dead horse and Kirby basically told him so. First, the great majority of the citizens who were there to speak did so recognizing the necessity for the millage increase to keep our heads above water next month and next year. Those who complained of this increase causing more foreclosures are severely mathematically challenged. Your county M&O goes up $35, and your overall bill goes down $250. So you save $215. No escrow changes will come from that. The public portion of the meeting followed present -
Can you say "Boneyard" ?

Its been awhile, but I believe Kodak's Ofoto website will send you a mailer. You have to join, but they will develop the prints and put them on line. You can then choose which ones you want prints of and purchase on line. And you can upload your digitals to the same site, and invite friends and family to view. The only cost is you have to buy a certain amount from them per year.

That is IF you can find a good attorney who will take the case on a contingency fee. For us, it was a matter of the BOC and Community Development just turned a blind eye while the developer simply TOOK our land. Insult to injury is we are paying taxes on the property the entire new road sits on, plus the first couple of feet of front yards across the street. We have an 1/8th of an acre less than we had before. Not a huge amount, but that, and half a dozen other issues are the basis for our suits. The litigation to date, more than 4 years, has not been over what was or is right or wron

I agree with you Laurie, except for the bolded line above. In actuality, it was a small handful who profited enormously, including their chosen politicians. Not only did this group NOT pursue economic development to attempt to help balance the tax base, they went out of their way to throw up roadblocks to PREVENT economic development. I always assumed it was because they did not know how to make their same sort of profits from it and did not want anyone else moving in on their goose laying the golden eggs. If we are going to have and shot at attracting industry and businesses to Paulding t -
Sorry, you are very misinformed. The Salmonella Enteriditis has NOTHING to do with the eggs coming from a large scale "factory" farm. SE was first isolated and identifed 20 years or so ago. And we are still not certain how the hen "catches" it. It has absolutely no ill effect on the hen, but causes her to lay a perfectly good egg with SE inside of it. Any hen is susceptible, and local backyard flocks even more so than the large mega flocks because of the bio-security on our big commercial farms. There are advantages to the fact the birds are housed inside 100% of the time and not exposed t
