I watched some of it. Picture and sound kept freezing up though, so it was hit or miss. I did catch that Paulette was being endoresed by Americans for Prosperity ? That is Virginia Galloway's group of right wing fanatics, and Virginia, her husband and some others were the previous board of the local GOP. Now they are out there actively campaigning for King Jerry's Group of candidates. Expect glowing endorsements for Beverly Cochran and Tony Crowe as well. Paulette, I found on what parts I could watch, is just as goofy today as she was 2 years ago running again for the BOE. It just see

FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS PART OF ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW
surepip replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
However, what the judge is ruling on is legal citizens, detained until such time that they can PROVE they are legal citizens. Do you have proof of citizenship on you right now ? Do you have a passport and carry it with you? If not do you carry a certified copy of your birth certificate ? Don't get me wrong. I am all for deporting all illegals and heavily fining and jailing those employing them. But at the same time I do have to wonder of the many legal hispanics I know personnally, including my son-in-law and my sons Godmother, who are legal but would end up getting hassled by LEO with the -
What's the latest word on the Roundtable ? Did Paulette ever show up ?

I got a really nice flyer in the mail this week from Steve Golden's campaign, more than a day late, and I imagine a bunch of dollars. It was a positive flyer as well and might have helped him had it arrived before the election. Good talking point, good information on the candidate. But, too late now....... Stout is looking better and better to me. Just can't deal with the possibility of Jerry's Girl representing us under the Gold Dome. Are the district 19 candidates for the run-off going to have a P.com roundtable forum discussion ? Rapidly running out of time.
-
I recall reading last week that there was going to be another round table forum for the commission candidates to sit and discuss topics of interest to the post commission seats. We have less than 2 weeks until the run-off vote and I assume early voting will be next week at the registrar's office. Are some of the candidates balking at having to discuss issues with their opponents ?

Daughter was sitting at the light at Bill Carruth and 278. Middle of the afternoon, lots of other cars around, including a police officer on the other side of the light coming towards her. Pick up truck full of intoxicated teenagers plows into the rear of her car. Backs up, no less, and tries to cut over to the right turn lane to run, and hits her again. They continue on towards business 6/Merchants Drive. Cop sees it all, and heads out after them with his lights and siren, and they pull into the parking lot where Powerhouse Gym used to be. Handcuffs the 3 of them, and takes them bac

Does everyone have problems getting online when the thunder moves in?
surepip replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am with AT&T....is that my problem ? We have fiber optics in Palisades. And there is a distribution box 100 feet from my house. BUT, since the developer and us are still involved in lawsuits, he would not allow AT&T an easement to bring us a line from that distribution box. Instead, we have a copper line running 750 feet from another box. Sweet huh? They did give Greystone an easement to bring the power up from that same distribution box 100 feet from the house because we would not sign over to put another pole in our front yard to break up the 500' drop we had coming from the st -

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race

And they are not the only ones, there are another 3 or 4 "Precinct Captains" and other "Powers that Be" within the local GOP who are campaign managers and very involved in the campaigns. Same thing 2 years ago with people out supporting Shearin and Tommie Graham's opponent. Luckily they failed in both of those races, and with some good fortune we might dodge their bullets again with Braddock and Cochran. I certainly hope so. Neither Braddock or Cochran in office would be beneficial to the citizens of Paulding, unless you count the Robber Barons and their ilk. Time to send Jerry and his cro -
Does everyone have problems getting online when the thunder moves in?

I will have to check next time. The modem is in the next room to my office. It has always been this way. We put the metal roof on 12-13 years ago so it is something we have always endured during thunder storms. Its just the frequency of the storms lately has been causing me more down time that I would prefer. We have a #4 copper ground wire running the length of the roof tied to a 10' copper clad grounding rod, and we have no trouble with anything getting fried like we did years ago before we redid all the grounds. It just tends to make me fretful when I can't get online and even see -
OK, we have the fasted AT&T DSL package there is. But everytime the thunderstorms start getting close, just the hint of thunder, we get knocked off line. Outlook might be able to get on long enough to download or send email, but google and aol can't hold on to anything and until the storm passes we just can't get on line. We do have a galvanized metal roof/soffit/facia. Everything is well grounded. Any computer geeks out there who know about this phenomena ? I have been down for most of the afternoon today.

If you are a member of the radical right, don't call "other" socialist lefty liberal communist Obama loving democrats just because they are not as lunatic republican zealots. Some take offense to such name calling. But you can call Pubby all those things, just not Wideload.

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
surepip replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Believe what you want. Jerry and some of the GOP Old Guard, and the RBMDs are very much hard at work to elect Braddock and Cochran. This is their, hopefully, Custer's Last Stand. They are indeed backing Braddock and Cochran which is fine. And if you want their influence on the BOC, and for them to have the ability to use the District 19 seat to their advantage, then by all means support them. I have seen first hand what that Old Guard Group, i.e. Good 'Ol Boys have done to Paulding. Throwing up roadblocks for industrial development, and turning loose the RBMDs to rape and pillage t -
Never have bought any, but we have a Veg-o-matic.....it was a gift. When we lived in Rabun county, there was a filthy rich old loony-toons widow who lived a bit further down the road we were on near the lake. She had like 200 acres with a mile or so of lake frontage on Rabun. Her son would carry her to the doctor in Atlanta, overnight, and we would go over an take care of her dogs, a couple of absolutely worthless shark-bait terriers. We did this like once or twice a month. When we got married in Clayton, we invited her to the wedding, and she came. And brought us, as a gift, the Veg-o

If we get an "urge" for Mexican, we like Jalapeno Joes. Jim & Nick's is good BBQ, especially their turkey, ham, and sweet cornbread muffins. But its pricey. Taki has some good Sushi and Sashimi. Other than that, there really has not been a good place to eat since Main Street, and then McPharlan's closed. We don't go for the industrial chow as prepared by Longhorns, Texas Roadhouse, etc. We like the pizza out of our woodburning pizza oven. Just hate the work to fire it up to cook 2 or 3 pizzas. We used to do fund raising pizza parties where we would cook 30 or 40 p

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
surepip replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Now, add to this mix: The Paulding GOP is also bitterly divided. King Jerry and his RBMDs are scared of the current situation both with the District 19 Seat and the 2 Commission Posts. Bare in mind, they have had Kirby to keep them informed as to what was going on behind any closed door meetings. When it came to a showdown after David Austin took office and wanted to replace Beverly Cochran, 3 commissioners voted NO, basically telling him he had to keep her [Would you want to retain your defeated opponents "Girl Friday"/Administrative Assistant for 8 years no less, when taking over as -

But, with the request by the BOC, our legislators could introduce legislation which could attach impact fees to building permits and in the future to new developments. The RBMDs have gotten a free ride on the backs of the taxpayers for the past 12 years, thank you very much to Jerry Shearin and Bill Carruth. It is time for those who make the money on housing, when housing is an ongoing industry again, to pay for their fair share. And this is indeed something our legislators can take care of. Are you listening Howard,.....and the candidates ? -

Trying to have the Paulding BOC doing something on obtaining funds from developers for infrastructure at this point in time is closing the gate long after all the critters got loose. Do you have any idea of how many graded lots already sit awaiting a house ? The only practical way to offset the costs to the county is to attach fees to the building permit. It will not take a constitutional amendment to levy impact fees. I believe Cherokee county has had some success. The issue with the way the rules are written now is how to apply the impact fee to infrastructure in that specific neighborh -

I will gladly take an Austin Group working together than letting King Jerry get his hands on any power. He had his chance and became most adept at a rape and pillage of of Paulding. For Shearin and his group of RBMDs and former local GOP elite to get their hands on anything to do with Paulding County will force our tax issues and what we have to pay for to get worse and worse. Possibly devastating and it scares me. They had control for 12 years, .....solid control during some of the best economic times this country has ever seen, and what did they leave us ? In debi, no local jobs to speak o -
How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
surepip replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
There are many other pressing issues with district 19, and it becomes more important because our senate districts are so screwed up, the legislative seats are really our only native representatives we have. Heath lives in Bremen, and is more concerned with their needs. Hamrick lives in West Cobb and is more involved with their local needs. But Pauldings are different. We are screwed from Economic Development Grants, subsidies, and tax breaks because the Tier System has us right up there with Cobb, Dekalb and Fulton because our population [Thank you King Jerry and Company] puts us over -
Fresh, we love to make ceviche'. This is a Mexican/Latin American appetizer with scallops, and/or snapper or grouper, octopus, shrimp, etc. Cut into smallish pieces, and mixed with chopped: Mild Jalapeno Onion tomato parsley garlic olive oil lemon juice [actually the Mexican Limon, kind of a cross between a lime and a lemon works best] Mix everything together, season with salt and pepper and refrigerate for several hours. The acid in the citrus juice actually "cooks" the seafood. Wonderfully refreshing. We like grilled scallops, brushed with garlic butter Blackened Scall

Nothing sexist at all, other than King Jerry and his old GOP and RBMDs are the puppeteers with Braddock and Cochran. If the old group loose the Post 2 commission seat AND District 19, they will be out. Forced to sit on the sidelines and watch, and hopefully they will move on to other pastures to rape and pillage with their houses, houses, houses and let the rest of the county be damned. If the parcel of land over near to the BOE building is a different Paulette Rakestraw, then indeed, I apologize for any connection to Braddock. Her use of the Rakestraw name when it suits her, and Braddock -
How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
surepip replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
My problem here, is the same as the Post 2 commission race. I can't help but identify Paulette and Beverly as King Jerry's Girls. And the Paulding GOP is following King Jerry and the old Taj Mahal Cartel and for all practical purposes endorsing THEIR slate of candidates. I have had my negative comments concerning Mr Stout's past, and I am not a proponent of part of his platform planks, but the last thing we need on the commission or under the Gold Dome is either of King Jerry's Girls. I would have to choose Daniel over Paulette, no questions asked. This is Paulding County's chanc -
