  1. YES! There was one good thing that came out of this. Hatred subsided while Americans took care of each other. Flags were everywhere. We shouldn't forget that part of coming together as a nation united.
  2. I was teaching at Dobbins Middle School. An administrator came in around 11 a.m. and whispered in my ear that 2 planes hit the twin towers and one hit the pentagon. We weren't going to talk about it with the students; let them learn from their parents. If we needed to evacuate, we would be walking the students to Taylor Farm Park for parents to pick them up. Immediately I thought of my two children, then I realized that there were lots of students being checked out. I was scared, but I understood that there was no need to scare my students. The day crept on and on while I did my best to
  3. I was stopped in traffic while the roads were blocked. I saw the white construction van on the back of the tow truck and there were 2 busted window rings in the windshield as if the people in the van hit their heads HARD. Prayers said for all who were involved.
  4. I'm out of town and dying to see how Paulding HSs did tonight! Can anyone report any score??
  5. Gosh, love them! It's hard to pick a favorite because it depends on the mood I'm in: When I'm 64 Rocky Raccoon Honey Pie Yesterday Cirque de S'oeile has a Beatles show, Love, in Vegas. It's AWESOME!!
  6. Last week, my family went to a Paulding County high school football game. As we walked through the parking lot, we saw police officers giving breathalyser tests to 4 young men with beer cans surrounding their vehicle. No one was in a hurry to get the kids out of the parking lot. It almost seemed as they were purposely taking their time dealing with these guys so that many others could witness the ordeal. (Just a hunch, of course). As we were leaving the game, there were more police officers in two areas with young men who looked to be in trouble. What a great message to all of our

  8. Schools take these any day throughout the school year. Just drop them off in the office. Staff will know where to send them. I'm glad to see so many who care! Y'all are the best!
  9. Austin Middle School will be thrilled to take box tops!
  10. This is a hard poll to answer. I have to say that I have the same expectations from the get-go. It's only natural. Even students who I don't know, I judge by their looks, or their supplies, or their friends, etc... BUT... ...I find that there have been many times that I was wrong. I love to see siblings who are totally different. Parents usually warn me "this one is totally opposite her brother" for example. First impressions are usually not what they're cut out to be. So to answer the poll, I first expect the younger sibling to be the same (good or bad) as his older sibl
  11. I want to be cremated. It's just my body; I'll be in a better place. I totally respect anyone's wishes, but I just would feel better if I wasn't taking up land by my dead worthless body. Sprinkle my ashes in a flower garden, put a bench at a park in my behalf. I think it is cheaper, but not as cheap as one would hope. I don't want to burden my children with any costs to keep the cemetery. I just think it's the environmentally correct thing to do.
  12. How horrible! If your driving west, it's probably 1/2 mile past Rose's on the left. It's back in the woods, so I don't know what street or how to get there, but it looked really bad. Lots of black smoke like fuel is involved.
  13. We were driving back from Phat Phil's restaurant and saw all of the black smoke. It looked bad, but we couldn't see what was burning from the road. I hope everyone is okay. Maybe someone knows what happened. My father said it looked like a fire from a plane crash, not a house. But then again, it's just his speculation.
  14. I think you'll get tons of views on universal healthcare. Just a thought.
  15. Tell them that you believe everyone is guilty once they are arrested! JK
  16. I agree, but Jordan is my first choice, then Jeff....Jordan seems to get the short end of the stick normally.
  17. I like upgraded's and MrsHoward's ideas best for a 17 month old. Have a ball!
  18. I'm heading there tomorrow!! I heard it's 90 degrees at 2 a.m.!! I can't wait!!!
  19. Wow! This is such a wild story. I don't know what I think except that with scientific advances people are living much longer than expected. We might be faced with these kind of decisions as our minds outlive our bodies. I, personally, would hate to ever be a burden on my children. Hopefully I can live independently and die peacefully at home. I wouldn't want my children a part of the decision making of my life/death. That's too much for a living child to deal with if there's any guilty feelings.
  20. I tend to agree with this person. Research shows that a student who is held back eventually gets behind again when in another grade level. If the curriculum the second time around was different, maybe so, but boring a kid to death by having him sit through the same classes one more year will increase his chances of being a high school drop out. Retention in grades K-3 has a more than 50% success rate. Other grades aren't so successful. It's a tough decision, and I'm glad to see that you're weighing the odds. Good luck!
  21. Yep, it definitely means to bring your lunch and eat as the class continues. To have a working lunch means to get out of class an hour early, because you aren't taking an hour lunch break.
  22. I HIGHLY recommend Hunt's in PC!! It's in the old town of PC. If you're an oyster-lover like we are, you'll especially love it. The price is GREAT!! The service is fun and GREAT too! We were told to go there for spring break, and we ran into so many people from Paulding County. Strange, I know!!! Be prepared for a little wait there, but I don't think I've eaten at a better restaurant!! (a dozen steamed oysters on the half shell with cheese and jalepenos....it was TO DIE FOR!!)
  23. I, too, am a FarmTown addict. Level 29 and patiently waiting to reach 30.
  24. My favorite was when my DS was 4. I asked him to go with me to Michael's to get some balloons for my DD's birthday party. When we got to Michael's, he pointed to a guy and ask "Mom, is that Michael?" I answered, "I don't know if his name is Michael or not". I was so confused about his question. Then he saw another male, pointed, and asked "Is that Michael?" It took me a while, then it dawned on me that he was looking for Michael at Michael's. I guess DS thought we'd meet Michael!
