I do believe parents have lots to do with it. More of Cobb students' parents value education than Paulding. I've taught in both systems. The biggest eye opener I saw was the amount of absences students in Paulding have. Just my opinion, but it seems that Cobb parents make their children go to school more than here. I don't know why, but I would never hear a parent say "I kept Johnny out of school because it was his birthday" or "Johnny needed to stay home to help me (Mom) with the little ones" or "We decided to go on a trip for a week". That hardly ever happened in Cobb. If it were to h

I'm reading on the AJC scoreboard: SPHS 6 Hillgrove 21 and it's the 4th quarter. EPHS 3 Etowah 0 and it says 1st quarter. NPHS 27 Allatoona 27 and it says 3rd quarter. No one has posted the PCHS vs. Hiram score yet.

It's interesting to see the difference in opinions.

It seems to me that baby gates could be used to keep the child in the room without locking the doors. If doors must be locked, a simple baby monitor could be used to know when the child is awake. To keep the child in the room, and to think that sleep will be forced on the child, is wrong. I agree with the poster about tending to the child. I can't imagine feeling so isolated from the rest of the family as the child. If I woke and found the door locked, I would do whatever it takes to get out. That's when lives become endangered. It seems to me like there could be some psychological dama

School Closed for tomorrow- Sept 23 Wed (merged)
aberdeen replied to Baileybleu's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I got this from our principal: Due to our continued Boil Water Advisory, there will be no school on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. We can't have school without drinking water for preparing meals. Ntech is delivering about 70% of the calls that go out. Please pass the word to the community and anyone on your team who may not have received the emergency call out. -

How can my husband get to work? Any roads still open?
aberdeen replied to MamaJess's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Good luck luvtennis, my hubby tried to get downtown from Ridge Rd. and couldn't. He gave it his best shot and was blocked at many roads. Now he's waiting for daylight. -
My hubby just tried to get to work but came back home. The bridge at Austin Bridge Rd. is closed. He drove down Ridge Rd. and took a left on 92. The road is blocked past the Catfish Den so he came back and turned on Bill Carruth. He drove down Bill Carruth and took a right on 278. It was closed near Birdie's Wings. He couldn't get to I-20. He's waiting for daylight to try again!

They see him hanging onto a tree now.

Another house had its basement wall collapse off of Bakers Bridge. They're trying to get to the house, but the roads are blocked. Now...a car went around the Bakers Bridge/Senator road block and the occupants are trapped in water. This just came off the scanner.

On WSB just now, they said that winds up to 40 mph will be hitting later tonight. This isn't good. I hope they're very wrong!

Not all can have more than one child. Not all can have a child at all. I believe it's all a matter of choice. My brother and I have a relationship that comes and goes. Even in the bad times, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I just always knew that I was going to make sure I had at least two children if at all possible. I think large families are super. My mom was one of 4 and dad was one of 6. My hubby is one of 4 and his parents had 6/7 siblings. On the flip said, I know many "only children" and they do just fine. I just wanted siblings for my kids because big families are f

Bumping this up for all parents to see.

The longest relationship anyone ever has is with a sibling, if they have one. Once parents are gone, siblings need each other. It would be a lonely place for an only child. I guess the child would have a spouse or friends, but no one to reminisce with about childhood times. I think there should be at least one sibling for every child. Just my 2 cents.

I'm almost positive it's for grades K-12 in Paulding County Schools. After searching school websites, I can see that it's advertised for 6th-12th grade, but I don't notices at elementary school websites (or the few that I checked). In the past, elementary students received their progress reports on the same days as middle school students.

I would think with blackberries everywhere someone could update us with the high school football scores. Man, the suspense is killing me! My hubby won't answer the phone, so it must be loud in the stadium. How are Paulding high schools doing? (or am I looking in the wrong place for updates?)
