  2. I believe it was a close call... From a teacher's standpoint: 1. We were wrapping up a unit with a test to take before the winter break. I don't know what we would've done if school was canceled. I couldn't fathom giving the test on the Monday we returned. Would I review for another day or two, then test? It wouldn't be fair to the kids and it would just put us more behind after flood days and other snow days. 2. We already have classes extended 15 minutes to make up other snow days. I don't know how this make-up day would come into play. 3. While the radar looked as i
  3. I'm trying to think of something to do during winter break. Last year we went to see the King Tut exhibit and LOVED it. Has anyone seen this one? Thanks!
  4. I agree with K96. I like to check and see, but it always benefits us more by filing jointly.
  5. Because of this thread I decided to give her a try today. WOW!!! The éclairs, honey cakes, and walnut brownies were to die for. The potato soup was delish as well! I was hesitant about going because honestly, every other time I've visited that location, it wreaked of cigarette smoke. I was delightfully surprised and can't imagine the cleaning and rebuilding that had to be done to take out the awful smell. It's clean and tidy and a great change of pace for the Ridge Rd. area. I can't wait to try their breakfast!!
  6. Tanner is in 6th grade now. His stage name is "Tanner Blaze". If searching youtube for Tanner Blaze, there will be a plethera of commercials he did. I don't remember pre-K, but Tanner went to K, 1st and 2nd at PB Ritch. How cool! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_MKWOUky-0 (this is one that I saw quite a bit!)
  7. I've been wanting to see Tooth Fairy and just came back. It was so cute! A great movie for kids. Why is it that I never can hold back the tears in sweet movies like that?? Anyway, the starring little girl is Destiny Whitlock, one of Paulding's own! It's so cool to see a little Southern Belle have such a big part in a movie. Her brothers, Tanner and Austin, also do their share of commercials and TV shows. The family lives in California now, but were are part of our community. I can't wait to see the next assignment of one of the Whitlock kids. Pretty cool, huh???
  8. Nothing to buy, but the second the baby comes in the door, introduce him/her to the pets. It seemed strange to me when I did it, but the pets seemed to take part in raising the baby. It works!
  9. The longest relationship one has is with a sibling. I'm so sorry for your loss!
  10. Once again you guys come through with the BEST advice. Although I can see it isn't a landslide win to take I-40, I think it would be best to go that way. Especially for us to see the OKC Memorial. I think kicking off our 38-day trip to see National Parks of the U.S. can start with a patriotic visit there. The website and pictures are incredible! Anyway, thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I wish we could do both!
  11. I guess this means that HSers got theirs too!
  12. I don't know how I typed that so wrong! Not a 250 mile difference, a 34 mile difference.
  13. We're off on a trip to camp around the country this summer, and have planned 3 nights to get to Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Amarillo, TX. I don't see any "great" campgrounds or sites to see along the way. I-20: Birmingham AL, Jackson MS, Shreveport LA, Dallas TX I-40: Birmingham AL, Memphis TN, Little Rock AR, Oklahoma City OK They are basically the same distance. AAA recommends the I-20 route even though it's 250 miles longer (maybe less back roads?) The only factor I can think of is that I-40 shouldn't be as hot (in June) than I-20. Which route would you choose and w

  15. I'm not a country fan, but I went to the Grand Ole Opry and saw Ashton Shepherd sing this. I cried and cried and will never forget it. Angel Wings She sat in her hospital bed Drawin pictures of the sky And through all of the pain she felt She had never asked why But when the doctor walked in And said "It's time for your meds" With tears in her eyes She looked at the doctor and said How big are angel wings? Are they small enough for me? Do they make them little in the size I might need? They say where I'm goin' I won't feel no more pain So I really need to know, How bi
  16. I saw it a few times on VH1. The shows I was watching weren't for kids so I thought that the commercial was just for these shows. If it was aired on other channels for kids, I totally disapprove. The first time I saw it, I thought they were saying shmidt or something like it. After the second time, I noticed the words were exactly what I thought. Good grief!! If Nick and Disney host the commercial, I will be shocked!!
  17. Surely the key is wrong. Shouldn't "orange" be HHS and "royal blue" denote SPHS's district?
  18. I just bought an LG 8350 on ebay for $36 which was Verizon ready and without a contract. You can find good buys out there! Good luck!!
  19. I started a thread like this a year or two ago. Everyone told me to get a Dyson Animal. They're high, but good gosh, they get the job done. It was the best advice I've ever had and there's no looking back! I love Dyson products!!! (I had 2 Maine Coons and a short haired dog at the time. My Kirby wouldn't pick up the hair on our throw rug. This Dyson got it all in one fatal swoop!)
  20. My neighbors were out of town for the weekend and came home to frozen water pipes. If the schools' water hasn't been used and we've been under a freeze for a very unusual 72 hours straight with only a couple of hours' relief today, I can only imagine that they are seeing the problems in a few schools also. Just my idea of why school is out....
  21. Cherokee County schools are out tomorrow!
  22. Just curious. The roads around me seem fine. How are they in your neck of the woods??
