  1. That's the gist of what I got....nothing but assumptions and rumors.
  2. It's the redneck version of "preening", the act of "placing one's wares on display." No worries, they're just comparing "tire size" while showcasing their supreme acts of disrespect for any and all neighbors within "spittin' distance". This kind of behavior usually results in large, bald spots in the grass as well as extremely pissed of neighbors. I would love to tell you not to worry, but the above is followed closely by the following: (including, but not limited to) cigarette butts in the street/and or your yard mutiple, unleashed, and unkempt domestic animals, mutiple, unle
  3. As soon as you find out what their needs are, let us all know. I'll check with neighbors and friends who have girls around those ages. Prayers for this family....
  4. Mine too! We're finally to the point where I don't have to "translate" every little thing. Pre-school has helped as well. He also has a sister who translates for him at school. We had to enroll them in seperate programs so she'll stop "helping" him and the teachers can see what HIS skills are! (their 13 months apart and in the same level) But all the kids crack me up! I love these stories--reminds me to stop and savour this small thing...too soon they'll know everything and mom'll just be the chauffer/ATM. (and that's when I'll be asking for the stealth tricks to try to stay a st
  5. Thanks for the update, lifting this family up for healing and strength....
  6. Exactly how I feel about this site. That, and even online I can pick out a certain demographic that I just prefer not to associate with. I don't bother arguing, although I do keep these people in my prayers. And to be honest with you, I'm figuring out that I should pay attention to the original poster as well as topic title, so I don't waste time with the petty higharchy on p.com. Of course, the same people I ignore ignore me so I guess that's the beauty of it, huh? Back to the original topic: Hubby and I were just talking about the victims from this accident just this morning, an
  7. LOL!!!!! I have one like this!!! Background: My five year old was born visually impaired...long story short he's fine now (after surgery) but he has a fe developmental issues. One is, he's scared to death of toilets. He can stand there and point his "stick pee pee" at it and he's fine, but get him to sit and poop and you're in for a fight. We've tried potty toliets, have a "short" toilet installed in the kids bathroom, tried bribing him (he gets an ice cream sandwhich if and when there's poop in the potty) so finally, I sit him down and ask him what's up? He tells me he's scared of th
  8. Prayers for everyone involved. My hubby showed up, thankfully. For the record, the SO's dispatch did not tell me anything. I told her the color and model of my car and my husband's name. She confirmed it wasn't him. I'm still a little shaky. I hope the baby's ok and I hope everyone's loved ones are accounted for.
  9. As far as i can tell, not him...hoping battery in phone just died....but not reaching him after several attempts and seeing this was more then enough to get me worried! Obviously, I agree about finding out online or through a news site is horrible, but I whole-heartedly agree with the person who commented about finding out hours later from someone at the hospital being worse. I wouldn't have waited hours.... And still waiting to hear from hubby, but not as tense now that I know it wasn't our car.
  10. Please Pm me with car make and model...can't reach husband and he was coming that way....so nervous. About to get kids packed up and drive up there....
  11. I don't know what qualifies as a credible story to some, but I have learned to follow my heart. If a person who is asking me for money has suken eyes, missing teeth, hollowed out cheeks, pale-vampire like skin, and huge, open lesions all over their face, then yeah, I'd automatically think they're a meth head. But just because someone has an emergency and asks for help, doesn't mean they want money for drugs. Again, I appreciate the warnings. It doesn't make me sad or angry, it makes me think twice about whether or not I'm getting conned. There have been times I've walked right by the per
  12. That is exactly my point of view, though I appreciate the caution from those who "know better" because I do tend to be a little niave. I am just being honest. I would have bought the flowers from the lady at the grocery store, and I wouldn't have worried for a second about her buying a lottery ticket with it. So, I really do appreciate the cynisim, without the insults. Just yesterday, I gave money I really didn't have to spare. It amounted to a little more then three gallons of gas, or four gallons of milk, or a couple of ice creams with the kids. And I gave it to a woman I only kno
  13. I am all for the "bad drivers report"!! I think some of the biggest lessons I've ever learned were from embarrassment!
  14. On my email account, there's a way to report it as a "skimmer" (a scam artist who is skimming for personal info).
  15. I've been thinking about y'all all morning!! Maybe she is on here and knew about the ambush, so she was late today... This whole thread has made me be sure to act nicer behind the wheel....
  16. Count me in for the Cut-A-Thon! And let us know when you set a date so I can be sure to warn hubby that he gets out of yard work that weekend!
  17. SMART!!! I caught up with the other thread, so smart of you to record!! I was gonna add, it's not me, my Chrysler's red and it's a mom-mobile all the way! I like the song, too.
  18. Last month, I was in Alabama for a job and gas was .20-.40 cents cheaper then Georgia. I am still stumped as to why, but it's nice to see the numbers decreasing here for once. I sure hope they keep it up and this isn't a precursor to raising prices back up, higher then before, like they have in recent past...(as in, since Feb.)
  19. Speaking of squirts, that's the sound my coffee made when it came out of my nose when I read this line!
  20. I was thinking the same thing, then i thought about how we stretch. I go in with another mom for a monthly trip to a warehouse place and we split the haul, 50/50. We each spend about $200, which i save over the month. In between, I spend between $30 and $50 a week on dairy and a few sale items. I suck at coupons, unless it's for the store brand since that's what i buy. It's odd, but it's helped out more then I realized before we started doing it. And to the OP, Rhett, I feel for you. In my little section, we have many foreclosures. Many of those have been bought by out of
  21. Thanks for asking, for once I didn't clarify. I was in a hurry. i didn't mean poverty, per se. i mean the low paying jobs. For example, my husband was out of work for six months and applied any and everywhere, including fast food and retail. Every application or resume, he followed up by inquiring about the status of his application in person, in some cases, every week like clockwork. He actually recieved three interviews in all that time, including one during the national job fair day at McDonald's. Though we were suffering, we never once turned to crime, though I am still paying off m
  22. About two years ago, hubby worked for a business in the same shopping center. He came home one day and told me never to eat there. They failed an inspection due to rat feces in the area where food was prepared, as well as a few other violations (bugs, employees not washing hands). This was within a few months of them opening, though and Hubby did make sure to tell me that wasn't the only food provider in that strip that had some health issues, although this one thing stuck out above all the others. Even though it's been a long while now, I only buy food from the grocery store in that
  23. You and Bored make excellent points. It's not race, it's poverty that's to blame. I really like the way you put it above. Those four words speak volumes. And speaking strictly for myself, I'm more scared of some of the toothless, wild-looking, dirty, stinky, white guys who stare at me, make gutteral noises that sound similar to human language, and sometimes follow me through a parking lot, coming close enough to me that I now hold my keys between my fingers like a weapon. That's one of the reasons I stopped going to Walmart by myself. Now it's happening at QT. And these men ha
