Awesome news all around! Jenilyn, congrats on the soon-to-be 1 year old! Next "savings" milestone: getting out of diapers!! TMMG: Congrats on trying to quit smoking! I am too! I've cut back from 5 packs a week to two and trying to get down to ZERO by Thanksgiving. PWilhelm: Enjoy that next paycheck... Woohoo is right!! Baseball mom: Yay for hubby being home for a week and not because he was laid off! Enjoy your time together. Bunky's Dad: ditto on NC's domestication...that made me laugh! Starr and Dru's Nana: You rock! Have fun on the bike and if your hub

AWESOME!! Inspiring! And I love window shopping! It's right up there with day dreaming!

It was a complete surprise! And the house looks brighter, I'm so thrilled! Safe trip to Mississippi! I love the bonding time. I didn't realize how much I needed my own session with my aunt until I was there. I feel so much better!

So, we went to visit a dying family member over fall break. It took every penny we had and then some, but we all survived and came home healthy and whole. We also came home to excellent news. My hubby, who stayed behind to take care of our animals, painted the house, had the carpets cleaned, and started a brand new job this morning. How about you? What good news do you have? What nice things would you like to share?

My opinion: ditto on the inviting him to walk with you, but since he's still a teen, make it about YOU. Tell him you would like his help keeping yourself on track, get him to act like a "coach". Have him be your motivator. You can use the time to talk about life matters (if he's willing). Also, if he takes it on as coaching you instead of his own challenge, then maybe it can lead to a career, as well as his own weight loss. I know a kid, now 22, who was a 6th year senior (but kept at it until he graduated) and was similar in description as in original post. His stepdad was heavy too a

Great point, I forgot about that. It's called "steering". I'm not in real estate....other then watching the market.

Try Savanah's Lace off Cochran Ridge Road. There are some BEAUTIFUL foreclosures--move in ready for super cheap ($45K-$70K) with yards and pretty views. I've seriously considered buying one to rent it out and if I thought I could manage it right now, I would have already made an offer. Lots of families in the neighborhood, too. Good luck to your daughter on her first house!

This happened in my house, only opposite...I went out of town and forgot to tip off hubby to our dogs' idiosyncrancies. I came home and he informs me I've "ruined" our pittbull. He's supposed to be a tough dog, our big protector......I turned him into a lap dog that purrs when he's comfy. *shrugs*

I was thinking about the crime...all the housewives won't have his armed securtiy dude to watch out for them when they leave their evening classes after dark...with no other businesses open and all the "unsavory" types that hover around the apartment complex. He really cared about this community, about the safety of the patrons in the strip.

Prayers for you...for extra strength and extra love right now. *hugs*

The Citgo is closed. The housewives at the exercise place ran him off. They complained about the bad element the Citgo brought into "their" shopping center. I've lived here seven years and have never seen a business surivive long in that strip...except Citgo. We'll see what happens... Good luck, Azar! I hope Canton is successful to you!

I can help with kids clothes...pm me your phone number and I will call you by Monday. We're in the process of "fall" cleaning and re-arranging our stuff. I have things to spare that we were going to drop off at a donation site, but would much rather send to you. Kids clothes, definately the girl, maybe the boy (will double check) and toys, lots and lots of books and toys. Anything else I come across is theirs too. Prayers for your family!

Add my prayers, Kathie. I've been out of town but you were still heavy on my heart. Now I know why. How awesome of the pcommers to rally around you! Lots of love and support... Jen

Thanks, Pubby. I'm a little defensive about my own experience. But I do believe that parents need to arm themselves with information. Don't take someone else's word for it just because they're "official", OR because they have a passionate story (guilty). I've received the most help through our public school (don't tell Boortz ) I can't rave enough about the teachers at his school (ALLGOOD). It's like this: if I could hand-pick the people to nuture my child in my absence, these people would be it, hands down. For the mom who started the topic: despite all the research tools

This verse is my personal mantra. So many times I'm ready to give up (insert random scenerio here) and then I remember that there's always a reason, always a purpose. Find the lesson you're supposed to learn and be a better person, sometimes the only "reason" is none other then experience. (That's what I tell myself) I like MillCreek's recent "thought for the day" posts. I'm on here in the morning and it's nice to start the day "thinking".

I'll keep your nephew and his parents in my prayers. It's been rough, but with two boys with special needs, I can't imagine NOT fighting like hell to make sure they're getting the most out of life. This is my definition of normal. People tell me they wonder how I do/did it and I honestly wonder, too. I have two college degrees and left a good job to be "poor on purpose" just to make sure they're getting well cared for. When the oldest was nonverbal, my biggest fear was leaving him with a caregiver that turns out to be a bad person and my child would not be able to tell me what's wrong, o

It's also frustrating for certain companies to advertise for a job opening, hold interviews (with just two canidates), then decide to "promote from within". And when you ask about the new opening (from the promotion), they tell you they weren't really hiring, just following the law for advertising the opening. True story, just happened THIS WEEK with a job that was posted on this site. FRUSTRATING!!!!

And Jerimiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.

As the mother of an autistic child, I believe I should tell you MY opinion. I too did all the research, AFTER my child was already diagnosed. I believed the pediatrician when they told me there was no link. Then, at 18 months, my son was completely nonverbal. NOT ONE WORD, only sounds and ticks for the first FIVE YEARS OF HIS LIFE. Imagine waiting FIVE YEARS to hear "I love you" from your child. (when he started saying it, it was "loo-loo", but I clung to the hope that he meant "love you"). We stopped the vaccines at age 4. It took well over a year to see a change, and then it was ag

I don't know if this will help you, but I have been there and was originally quoted $1200 to fix it....for a van that I paid half that for. If it was the converter, you can get one at a parts store for between $75 and $125. (I went to the orange one with a z in the name) Some stores offer a core return refund (meaning, return old part, get half your original money back). I did this very action for my old '92 van. Then I took the part and the van to a mechanic who welded it on for me for $75.00 and I passed the next emissions test. Also, if you do replace the converter within a spec

IT WAS AWESOME! And far less expensive then I thought it would be. Everyone loved it! edited to add: the recipe was extremely easy, prep time was around ten minutes. But with my oven, it took 45 minutes to cook completely. Then, it was perfect!
