For those into the BMX scene, John Kovachi has passed
Magic Mommy replied to BH87's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My mom called with this news. He built my road bike and sponsered my sister's race team. He was ill for some time, sorry to hear he didn't beat is. He will be missed. -
I can't wait until I'm through the k-2 phase. Though my oldest starts 3rd next year, I have two that will be in kindergarten, so I still have a few years... And nothing against those moms with older kids, or mature kids, who don't need to be supervised. I was refering to the younger ones, the ones that just look too vulnerable out there by themselves. And all moms work, some just don't get paid.

She'd be in heaven!

That's really cool! Thanks for sharing! My daughter, who wants a pig, a horse, and a cow for Christmas, now wants a deer.

Pictures?

I'm "that" mom in our neighborhood. Yes, I care about other people's kids, but seriously, do I have to be THE ONLY one out there every morning/afternoon? And who sends their baby out in the cold without a jacket? I see it everyday! And they make their kids go out in the rain without any cover. They always end up in my house, and I hear they haven't had breakfast yet, etc.... Usually, if the bus is that late, I'm taking my son on my own. I used to take the whole bus stop on those days, but that became expected of me everytime I drove my own child. Eventually, I learned how to say NO.

I'm glad you posted this. To be honest, that's not something that would come to my mind immediately, even though I can relate. I used to have a hard time when my middle son was an infant, before he had eye surgery. He'd scream bloody murder and cling to my neck. I only tried it twice--about six months apart--before I realized I couldn't get through the store without him screaming. Hubby and I learned to take turns on who went to the store and who stayed home.

Must be leftover night...here too. Left over Ham and brocolli casserole. Adding a tossed salad, though.

The only reason I even replied was not to be snarky....it was because I knew for sure whatever set NC off on this train of thought was not me or my kid...Though it could have been me--last week with my grouchy four year old with an inner ear ache who could not be appeased by ANY bribe. I did leave the store and come back later.....alone. I also apologized to the employee who had to put the stuff up. But I do try not to put the general public through one of her "dramatic" tantrums, both out of respect for others and fear of people who judge before assessing a situation for what it is, a fuss

On that one, I'd call the cops, then look for management to help detain the person.

I was thinking that it depends on the situation surrounding the screaming child. If the child is kicking and screaming after being told "NO" to something, around the age of toddler or preschool, and whether or not they're frantically screaming for mommy or help--which would be a clue as to whether it's an abduction or a tantrum. Of course, there are things that are unobserved with the naked eye, like an irritable child who is tired or ill, maybe running a fever, and the mom's just running in to pick up the meds rather then getting stuck in the RX drive thru for twenty minutes {think encl

Do you ever go to the grocery store AT NIGHT?
Magic Mommy replied to subby1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Funny! The only time I've ever seen a Kroger put that into action was in Houston, Tx. in September. (FYI, they're paying over $5.00 a gallon for milk, y'all. That was the store brand, on "sale" ....and the dairy farms are everywhere. I still don't know why it's two dollars cheaper here) -
Story source: http://www.kcci.com/...191/detail.html DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Iowa couple who was married for 72 years died one hour apart last week in the hospital as they held hands.Family said the story of Gordon, 94, and Norma Yeager, 90, is a real-life love story. They believed in marriage til death do you part," said son Dennis Yeager. Dennis Yeager was t

Me too. I told my husband about it this afternoon and warned him not to watch the video if he saw an article about it. He told me he was glad I warned him. He was there just after the two year old was hit and killed on Winndale a few years ago. He told me he still prays for her mom. I did spend all day with my little ones, just enjoying their hugs and the sounds of their voices while working on pre-school and second grade "projects"....but I can't get the little girl in the street out of my mind. I know I don't understand the culture, but this is more about the humanity of the situ

:clapping: I'm really angry about it, now. And leaving early to go observe at school. I just want to be close to them today. Prayers for that sweet baby.

Do you ever go to the grocery store AT NIGHT?

I'm a midnight/early morning shopper too, that's when they stock the shelves and there is actually stock! Except at the 278 Kroger, a lot of us shop late, so, with only one register open and all of us with our carts stuffed, I get time to catch up on my tabloid headlines, too. -
I was thinking literally the SAME thing about the boy comment. And I did read the article, first. It was about a Chinese national outcry against a "national lack of morals" in today's society. I'll say.
-
No, you don't want to. Ususally, the videos aren't so graphic, so by the time I realized what I was seeing, I just watched in horror.
-
This whole thing sickens me. Have you seen the video? It's heartwrencing! I am literally fighting the urge to drive up to the preschool and hug my babies. I WILL NOT POST THE LINK, but its all over the national news. Little girl, two years old, wanders into street and is hit by a box truck. She would have lived if they had stopped after the front wheels mowed her down, but NO...the BLEEPEN driver has to go and drive off, driving over her chest and neck. Then she lays there helpless while people WALK AROUND HER. She gets hit by a second truck and FINALLY, a woman flops the girl ar

Depends on how big the glass is, but let me add this. I am by no means, a "light-weight" when it comes to drinking. I come from a long line of alcoholics on both sides and both my sisters are alcoholics. For this reason, I do not drink often, maybe once or twice a month. We have four beers in our fridge from July 4th cook out and we originally purchased a six pack. If and when I want to drink, I can get "expensive". All that said, FIVE glasses of wine would put me under the table, for real. I don't know about blacking out, but I would have a hell of a headache when I woke up. That is

When I was house hunting, i specifically told the agent I wanted a "trick or treat" neighborhood and I picked a good one. Lots of little kids, lots of groups of parents and kids, lots of houses decorate (for Christmas, too) etc. One of the kids on the bus told me last week that everybody loved my house because it looks scary and we give out "the good chocolate".

First: tithe to a few of my favorite churches/organizations....and I would also set up my own "charity" in this area that provides dental services to those below a certain income...those with and without insurance (because I know that even with insurance, some copays are almost unmanagable). I'd use some of the money to create jobs by investing in an established franchise...several of them, strategically placed in existing buildings in areas that don't have as many choices (for work or for food/shopping). Whether management or hourly, I plan on paying a livable wage and offering insura

Ladybug, my goal is 40 gone and here's what's working for me: I don't diet. I like food and I like to eat what my family eats. I do NOT want to make a special menu for just myself, nor do I expect my skinny and active children to put up with my "rabbit" food. (though hubby should...I'm just saying ) When it comes to food: make smart choices, eat smaller portions, and limit desserts. Fresh fruit is a great sustitute and its filling, too. On portion size, my main dish (meat or pasta, whatever the choice) is a little smaller then the palm of my hand and I fill up on veggies instead o
