  1. Keeping you in my prayers. So sorry for your loss, my friend, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Glad you had that time to say good bye.
  2. Yay Zeppelin! My favorite is "Ramble On". But now I want to do a favorite "holiday" song: Mine is "O Holy Night" both for the words (which have brought me to tears more then once) and when sung by a stellar voice, those words feel powerful. I have never heard a bad version of that song other then my own. I can't sing to save my life. (that doesn't stop me from belting out a song, though!) Back to original topic: There are tons of mainstream Christian songs and much fewer "devil" songs. My favorite band is U2, which most people know is a mainstream Christian band. However, Bono w
  3. I did not rush out to buy Twinkies or other Hostess products but did come across some "zingers" and cupcakes for $1.88 a box. I bought three of each kind left (my husband and kids LOVE the cupcakes) and came home to check ebay. This was Sunday and I was floored by the frenzy. The rasberry zingers are selling for $20 for two boxes. I haven't listed anything, waiting for tomorrow's announcement (final liquidation or agreement reached) and if they totally go under, I'll join in and see what happens... So how about y'all? Anyone going to retire early thanks to Twinkies? Anyone go out an
  4. The changed it at 61 & 278 too. The new turn signals are odd and I am terrified about being the first car to turn left. Now, the straight traffic goes for a while then gets the yellow and red so the left turners can go....but I sat there at 6pm yesterday and watched the straight drivers run the light. You would have noticed if you'd get off the phone.
  5. On this, we agree. While we only have "nickels and dimes" to work with, we are already "taking advantage of the situation" and have planned a four year strategy to continue investing while it'sat prices that are "reachable" for someone like me.
  6. Goober's on the "approved" list of silly words at my house too! My favorite silly word is one I made up: "hunkerdo" Its my "cuss word" but it also makes me laugh sometimes. I have been also known to utter the word "buttafoocko" in place of a certain "f" word. That one may show my age.... I haven't been on in a while, so this thread is more fun for me.
  7. Ok, I'm weighing in on this because the pagent topic has been hot in my house lately. My baby doll (5yrs old) is in a class with other pagent girls and they have "played pagent" on the playground at school. My daughter calls it "the princess contest" and has asked to be in one. Unfortunately, she was there the day another parent (whose daughter does pagents) said to me: "Please don't let her do pagents, she'd win." The woman wasn't joking and of course, her mom agrees, though I have been approached several times about her modeling and acting. She seems to have natural poise and grace, l
  8. Yup, tall, blonde guy with an accent visited my door too. He called my neighbors by name and I informed him I knew all about his scam, whipped out my cell phone and called named neighbor in front of him and informed her of the scam, all the while he's insisting "no". I never took the chain off the door and I told him my next call was to the Sheriff. He left in a hurry! Over the weekend, I had a tall blonde guy from a local trash service knock on my door at 7pm on Saturday night. He went into his pitch and I said, "no thanks". He stuck his hand out to catch my door as it was closing-
  9. I graduated from Sprayberry when it was a "good" school. Back then, everyone called us "East Snob". West Cobb was where the "rednecks" hung out. I remember my first time driving up Dallas Hwy. It was two lanes. And this was not that long ago!!
  10. It depends on my mood, honestly. Occasionaly, and frequently at the same time of the month, I feel a little lonely being so far from friends and family. Most of the time, I LOVE this community! I love living in a "rural" area (to me) and being close to the big city. I love the fact that I can spend the morning roaming a local park and only see a handful of people. I love the fact that I can attend just about any sporting or recreational event without having to hop on a plane or sit in a car for hours on end. I love that traffic is an option (again, for me) and the fact that I know most o
  11. I actually have some advice on looking traditionally. I, too, am used to selling myself in person, not online. But since the process changed, I have to too. So, now I submit the application online with my resume, then I go in person and introduce myself to the hiring manager. I hand them a printed copy of my resume and tell them I did fill out the on-line application. Usually, they pull my information and I've interviewed on the spot several times. Both my husband and I were successful in finding full time employement in this way. Basically, follow the procedures, but set yourself apar
  12. Yeah, i figured out from your posts that you don't get how to be a decent person. That must be way crap like this happens to you? ...Karma train pulling out...
  13. MOST of the time, the clerk at the service desk is a cashier supervisor. MOST of the time, the clerk is aware of the security system and the fact that the cameras are ALWAYS watching, specifically the registers and the clerks who handle the money. Every single time an employee has cash in thier hands, the camera sees it. MOST clerks are not willing to lose a job over $60. The store has a policy in place for this very scenerio. I agree that it is stealing to take the money....even if you leave a phone number. Character is who you are when no one is watching. Why is it so hard to do
  14. I have a question on this topic...if I see a baby or an animal locked in a hot car, of course I'll call 911 right away...but I will also break the window or try to break into the vehicle. Yes, I really would do it. Now my question: Will I get in trouble, as in arrested? Not that it would deter me from doing it, I am not the type of person to walk away from doing the right thing even if I have to pay for it.
  15. Yes, yes!! Brag on, Mom! Great job with those genes there! Seeing those adorable pics makes me want just. one. more.
  16. The title of this thread is an oxy-moron to me. I don't know anyone on pcom who minds their own business. THAT'S why we're all here!
  17. The thing is, I didn't start out opposed or for vaccines. I did what the pediatrician told me. With my oldest, four of us at work were pregnant at the same time. All four of us have autistic children. We lived in another state then and we actually had the water at work tested for lead, as well as other toxins. All clear. All four of us followed the recommend vaccination schedule. Two moms stopped vaccines at diagnosis, about age 2. Myself and another mom continued...my oldest was nonverbal until almost age 6. I waited 6 years to hear the words "I love you." Still, I wasn't convinced
  18. I agree, DO THE RESEARCH. I have three kids. The two boys were fully vaccinated....autism + other issues. My daughter: NEVER, with Doctor's consent. She's five but reading on a 3rd grade level and writing complete sentences the first full week of kindergarten. It was funny, when I went to register her, not one school official gave me a problem over the vaccinations. They ALL know my oldest and many know the middle, so no one questioned me about my choice. By the way...total hyjack...GG: Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL! You have every right to brag!!
  19. Add my prayers and congrats to that list! Will keep you in my thoughts for a healthy and happy pregnancy! I can't wait to see how cute that baby will be!
  20. Dis, I, too have followed your posts and I keep your whole family in my prayers. What I bolded above: Here's my answer. Take back his gift and give him two ink cartridges (one black & one color). Tell him those are HIS to copy or print how he wants and when it's out, it's out. Maybe he'll get more for Christmas. I'm with those who say "lock up the ink" when not in use. If that means taking it to the station, then take it with you. I don't feel you are saying that you will ignore his birthday. I totally agree with the cancelled party (that's a privilage, one that cost $$ and shoul
  21. Your time-scale is correct expect for the apperance of humans. Homo sapien sapien (modern human) appears somewhere between 140 & 200 thousand years ago. Hominoids, as a genus, have been around since the 3.8 million mark, at least that's the earliest discovery so far, Austrilopithicus Serdibia, made in 2009 in Malapawa, South Africa, by Paleoantropoligist Lee R. Burger and his 9 year old son. Serdibia is the earliest hominiod in the fossil record and predates Lucy (discovered in the 70's). Paloanthropolgy is one of my passions. (I apologize for my spelling errors.)
  22. Meanwhile, in Reno....Carrottop is quickly cancelling casino lobby shows.....
  23. Well said. As a Christian, I agree with the last sentence. As for gay marriage: It is not my business whom one chooses to fall in love with. Since I'm not anyone's Judge, my opinion really doesn't matter. For me, the support of CFA was about supporting FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I agree with Dan Cathy's right to state his personal opinion. Now, if he said that CFA doesn't hire gays and will fire all homosexuals, well THAT'S something to boycott. But he didn't say that. He stated his personal feelings as the President of a private coporation which doesn not discriminate against anyone, even
  24. Had breakfast there this morning and I'm happy to report that freedom of speech tastes like chicken.
