I think if volunteer opportunities were more available in the community, people would step up. Not everyone wants to work at the shelter, but that's the only place I can think of off hand that have opportunities. I go downtown and have dished out 100+ hours since December.

Using ITBS vs CRCT really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to know how kids rank compared to other kids of their same age, then you look at the ITBS.....or course the ITBS assumes that all students are being taught the same thing, at the same grade level and without national standard, this isn't a safe assumption. The best use of the ITBS is to look at strengths and weaknesses, rather than comparing on a national level. As for the CRCT, it's based on Georgia's curriculum, which is different that other states. Florida, for example, takes the FCAT, same concept, d

I'm going to have to fess up here....I have a BAD habit of answering the question I wanted a person to ask, rather than answering the question they actually asked. I didn't realized I did this until I was called out on it yesterday. In hindsight, I realize that I do it quite frequently. My biggest pet peeve? Whiners. Not the occasional whine, but the all.the.damn.time whining. Oh, and people who don't have anything to say in a conversation unless it's about someone else. Realization this week: I have friends who talk non-stop about other people. Wow, this has really

I have been saying for at least the last 5 years that there is a DIRECT coorelation between the way students perform in 6th grade math and the way they perform in 8th grade math. Looking at these scores, I would bet you could go student by student, with very few exceptions, and find that students who were not successful in 6th grade math will NOT be successful in 8th grade math.

i think anyone destroying someone else's personal property under the guise of "mental illness" is freaking hystarical. you don't? -
I refi'd mine because it was a 2% drop in the interest rate.... The "underwater" part of it bugs me because that means I'm stuck here. I plan on staying here, but I want it to be becuase I WANT to be here, not because I HAVE to be here.

I double dog dare my kid to act like a moron in public. I'm kinda curious to know how I'll react...........and how long it'll take the cops to get there. For real. I listen to parents complain about their bad-ass kids for a living. 99% of the time I want to say, "Quit letting them do whatever the truck they want to do and start PARENTING!!!" but I don't say that, because I have a mortgage to pay.
