I think if volunteer opportunities were more available in the community, people would step up. Not everyone wants to work at the shelter, but that's the only place I can think of off hand that have opportunities. I go downtown and have dished out 100+ hours since December.

Using ITBS vs CRCT really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to know how kids rank compared to other kids of their same age, then you look at the ITBS.....or course the ITBS assumes that all students are being taught the same thing, at the same grade level and without national standard, this isn't a safe assumption. I have been saying for at least the last 5 years that there is a DIRECT coorelation between the way students perform in 6th grade math and the way they perform in 8th grade math. Looking at these scores, I would bet you could go student by student, with very few exceptions, and find that students who were not successful in 6th grade math will NOT be successful in 8th grade math.
