  1. I hope none of my other luxury items take a 50% increase.
  2. I do a spreadsheet in excel with all of the bills listed at the left and a column for every month. I just hide the old months, because it's easier that way. I highlight them once they've cleared the bank. This is as close to balancing my budget as I get. I also have a formula running on it with my salary at top, subtraction of payments, and left over at the bottom. I crunch numbers in my head pretty easily, so the system is mostly so I don't forget something.
  3. Some dumbass in Australia died while "planking" I think both trends are weird.
  4. This topic is sick. No wonder my generation and the next two are so trucked up. Unrealistic images of women.
  5. Do you have any flat sacs? I'd drive out there if you do.
  6. I brought my baby home from the hospital to an empty house. It was just me. And we both lived to tell the tale. She's 4 1/2 and I'm hankering for another one. (Where's NC with her bb gun?) You will get through this. I promise. Just hunker down and wait out the storm. I call bullcheeze on better after 3. 2 ain't got nuttin on 3. 2 was getting into everything, 3 was testing boundries. I would advise that you get your wife out of the house as much as possible. Even if she gets in the car and drives for 2 hours, don't bitch about the cost of gas. My single-male friend w
  7. To begin with, the funding was speculation and wishful thinking on my part. Since my classroom budget is based on what I can spare out of my pocket, I resent that funding goes to this program. I think that, in tough economic times, these "extra" programs should be the first to go. Secondly, based on the bolded statement, the taxpayer owes me $80,000. I'll take it in the form of tax credits if a lump sum isn't feasible. Thirdly, most of the above mentioned $80K was from education I received as a single mother. I would dare to argue that the stigma attached to single mothers is more deb
  8. I'm reading a lot of GED success stories. I'm not denying they exist, because I believe that people can find success dispite rough beginnings. I can't help but wonder if these stories of success are the exception or the rule? I also don't believe for a minute that people who drop out are dumbasses. I have on many occasions offered to barter my tutoring services (I teach math---which is the section that trips up a lot of people---this offer extends to everyone in this thread too, btw). HOWEVER, I don't believe that GED classes OR testing should be free. I think we have two sep
  9. Oh, that part. I overlook stuff like that. I don't think you're a dumbass.
  10. I remember we'd go fishing as a kid. Dad, me, littler sister, and big brother. My sister and I would catch the "bait" for my dad and brother. We loved it.
  11. Right, but the state was offering to pay for you to finish out high school. YOU chose not to. Why should the state (county, city, etc) have to fund alternative pathways?
  12. IDK, but the kiddo is always in charge of the worms.....until they warm up and start wiggling too much, and then it's HAL-LARIOUS.
  13. I ride around with a Barbie fishing pole in my trunk. Store that information.
  14. The special is pretty long so I'm recording it so I don't stay up all night. I've got lots to do tomorrow!
  15. Yes, there are a lot of reasons. BUT, this thread seems to be about a FREE GED program that people were taking advantage of. Bottom line----if *I* want to better my life through education, that comes out of my pocket. Period. The TAXPAYER funds public education. Any education beyond that should be up to the individual to provide.
  16. So why are these kids in alternative school in the first place? If your child can't behave, it should cost you. And it should hurt.
  17. When kids get sent there, do they pay?
  18. There's still an alternative program.
  19. It's fun to watch 'em squirm around trying to find that line, isn't it?
  20. So why should the taxpayer have to pay for the same thing twice?
  21. OR, maybe, just maybe, folks can take advantage of opportunities offered to them in, say, high school? Ding!
  22. It's a passive agressive f-you.
  23. Keep an eye on Groupon. Just don't use Shape Medical when it comes up.
