The girl isn't the point, the political statements of the contest are the point. Ms. Oklahoma was asked (by a Hispanic judge) if she agrees with the AZ law or if it should be left to the Federal govt. She was the runner-up... the one who didn't trip over her gown. Last year it was a gay judge who asked Ms California(?) if she agreed with gay marriage. But hey, it's just a beauty contest.

I never suggested that the only way a minority can get anywhere is through political correctness... but it does happen. From what I understand, there were a few politically charged questions this time around: should birth control be paid for by insurance, should BP have to pay all the expenses that result from the spill? I did say that I hope she won on her own merits and not because of her heritage... as I am sure its what she would want to be the case as well as the rest of you. I sent mine back and have no intention of talking to a census worker. It is totally possible to love our County and hate the govt. that tries to destroy it... I am doing it right now!

Myrtle isn't the Gulf, but it is nice. The beaches are not nearly as white, but the town is just like any other beach town. If you haven't been, you should go just for something different.
