  1. Subby, I would highly suggest a visit to the library. Check out Dave Ramsey's book "Total Money Makeover" or "Financial Peace" He includes sample letters to the cc companies if needed. JMO, but I wouldn't file over cc debt, it's just not worth it in the end.... and remember, even if you feel like it at times, you aren't alone in this boat -
  2. <~ Agree with mrnn. If you are really interested, you should read Dave's site. Listen to his show. Read his book. It's life changing. 10k is NOT much in the grand scheme of things, and cc can wait. Hope's sign says that they are starting an FPU class on Jan 9th.
  3. I agree with Babe ~ they could make an excellent game show style show out of couponing ~ sort of like "supermarket sweep" but with coupons! I think shows that show the 'extreme' are for shock value, just for the views - look at the shows about hoarding - makes us watch and go "wow" that said, who's going to invite me over to watch this show tonight?? I'm too cheap to have cable.
  4. so this creates an interesting twist.... should the bus driver be charged?? After all, obviously the bus wasn't properly supervised. So if we go this direction.... should the school system be charged?? The school systems allow overcrowded buses with lack of supervision. hmmmmm.......
  5. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a mother's morning out type program in the Dallas area?? I'd prefer something not too "churchy" TIA!
  6. Regardless of what BOE decides, the decision is that of the PARENT. If you are worried about road conditions, don't send them. Parents know what's best for their children. edited to add: This would also apply to anyone that is uncomfortable driving to work with concerns of road conditions - ultimately, it's YOUR decision, don't be bullied into believing otherwise. be safe.
  7. I'm a salt lover, but not a huge french fry fan ~ I thought they were GREAT!
  8. I, for one, am THRILLED! I'd like to have a Boomer's in Hiram.
  9. It's very pretty. I like the little spigs & twigs!
  10. I wasn't directing it toward you specifically, it was more directed to us all as a whole. We all tend to jump to judge before we step back & think first.
  11. I think we can all assume what we would do in any given situation, but until we are actually IN that situation, we can't be sure. It reminds me of the comments about self defense during a rape. The comment was something along the lines of "if she didn't fight, he may not have killed her" - WTF? How would any of us KNOW what we would do or not do until faced with the action. Again, I can assume that I know my reactions, but I may surprise myself? Most importantly, we should never judge others by their actions or inactions. And I should hope that noone here is ever faced with
  12. well...... those really are some yummy hot & ready pizzas!
  13. I've been reading too much financial mubojumbo lately ~ I need to relax my brain with some TRUE CRIME!
  14. I would totally agree with you up to a point - that line is crossed when an adult, with no respect for others, smokes in public - exposing other adults as well as children to their choices. A prime example would be my experience on Halloween Saturday in Downtown Dallas - while waiting in a line for a church truck or treat, the ADULT in front of us continued to smoke, while the smoke blew back into the faces of FOUR children that had NO choice. Move away you say? We tried. Speak up you say? We tried. He continued to smoke regardless of my comments. Do those who smoke in publ
