  1. you are right leogirl - I did it too, everyone did - we all 'ASSumed' that we knew what was really going on, but the reality of it is that none of us do - by 'they' I was referring to 'big brother government man' and isn't this just proof in the pudding? NOW it's child abuse?? NOW we're going to ASSume that the kid is 'abused' ?? geez - <_<
  2. and I quarenfreakingtee each of you that IF this happened to be one of those troubled youths that threatened to blow up his school/church/neighborhood - we would be having a totally different conversation now wouldn't we?! remember = age is irrelevant <_< ohhhh yeah -- cause that just makes everything sooooo much better <_< <_<
  3. and at what point did someone verify that it was the MOTHER of this child sitting in her car?? how do we know it wasn't an aunt, a neighbor, etc.... ???
  4. I tried to post earlier - in a response to someone else that saw firsthand, but my internet went down (thanks Bellsouth) It makes a difference having an eyewitness - I'll easily admit that - I don't live in that area, but I do know where Poole is located - not having first hand knowledge of which roads he was walking, and exactly where he was, it's hard to have a real opinion - NO, I'm not saying that ANY parent has the right to put a child in danger - but when I first read it, it sounded more like a parent that was trying to prove a point - only to have interference from outsiders -
  5. ah - but busymom, did you not realize that the GOVERNMENT can decide HOW and WHEN and WHERE we disipline our children?!!? ~~~ ugg........ I have no warm & fuzzy thoughts to add to this - I HOPE this child WAS indeed in danger! Otherwise, big brother just gave me one more reason to buy my own island!
  6. seems sad to me that we allow our police officers to decide HOW we raise our children! WHY did the officer transport to Poole? woooo weeeee ---- I've gotta get out the house now - before I have flames spitting out of my ears --
  7. I think in times of high stress, the time crawls by so slowly - it may have felt like it took the fire dept a long time to arrive, but in reality - it may have been normal response time - I am sorry to hear that this happened to your neighbor - but I am thrilled to hear that they are safe -
  8. I'm thinking that someone was trying to prove a point to said child - who knows how he was behaving before this? ((one of those - stop kicking your sister or you're going to walk kind of things))
  9. not that I disagree - but one must remember that here in the land of government children, we must be careful of using foreign objects to smack sense into our little darlings - otherwise, you have the county DFACS worker on your doorstep - and in this wonderful country of ours, we are guilty until we prove ourselves innocent - JMHO
  10. well, I was going to respond to this - but it looks as though everyone else has said enough to make our point ~ Thanks All!
  11. now that's the most absurd thing I've ever heard - not you Q, just the thought of some "law" telling me that I can't get pissed off at hubby & break something! - geez -
  12. it's also possible that the parent's weren't even home this time of day - the baby could have very well slipped out of the home of the babysitter - let's not start bashing parents when we have NO idea what the whole story is
  13. can someone post the orginial link to the topic - I have no idea who/what you are talking about.
  14. EBB I know what my heart is like Since your love died: It is like a hollow ledge Holding a little pool Left there by the tide, A little tepid pool, Drying inward from the edge. by: Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950)
