  1. It was a gamble that they lost on. They did not have to have or follow a plan. If they did, it would have been similar to an insurance policy--could cost a lot of money, and you may never use it. They gambled, the feds let them, and they lost. BTW--They DID get a free pass not having to file a plan. I'm not wrong about that. It just cost them in the end, a tragedy they hoped would not happen, I'm sure.
  2. See what you can get away with when you know someone.... Its really too bad that the people who make these decisions dont really think of the impact it may have. Thanks MMS!! My link NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Petrochemical giant BP didn't file a plan to specifically handle a major oil spill from an uncontrolled blowout at its Deepwater Horizon project because the federal agency that regulates offshore rigs changed its rules two years ago to exempt certain projects in the central Gulf region, according to an Associated Press review of official records. 3. Oh I wish it was later! I would love to take my children!
  4. Legalize them, tax them, and pay for our childrena education!
  5. Will, Thank you for coming to Pcom and posting with us. I have lived here for 4 years, and I havnt fully got involved with state and local politics, but I will be sure to pay attention to you! Please, if you havnt already, read some of the posts from parents in our county. People are upset, confused, and angry. And its not just parents and teachers. Children are upset. As the mother of a 4th and 6th grader, I have many years left to go with the schools in this county. I know that you cant please everyone all the time, but it seems that most people posting are pretty much on the
  6. Thats what that was?!?!?! I heard it all the way down Thornton Road!!
  7. I'm very happy you guys are so into these snakes-- YOU CAN KEEP THEM!!! I havnt seen any, and I dont want to.
  8. I was in a northern school, and everyone took the MEA tests, which would comparte to the CRCT's. I'm prety sure every school has an assessment test for all students. I think education is all in the teachers, parents and children, and not so much location. I'm amazed everyday at things my children are learning (in 4th and 6th grade), that I never learned in school. I'm very impressed with some of the extra things the children learn from their teachers about everyday life, and not just textbook facts. My children have had good and bad teachers, just like I did. It is still their job to lea
  9. This is by far the best thread there has been in a while! Thanks everyone! My boyfriend gets mad at me because I get a new roll and leave the old one with a sheet or two sitting there! At least there's always paper.
  10. Lets hope something is done. Link "President Obama has proposed significant tax-law changes, starting in 2011. For example, he would keep tax rates on long-term capital gains and most dividends where they are now for most taxpayers, but he would create a new 20% rate for many upper-income taxpayers. Will that happen? It's much too soon to know today what the law will look like for 2011. So, if someone tells you to dump all your stock-market winners this year because they are convinced that capital-gains tax rates are going up in 2010, be skeptical. That seems highly unlik
  11. Good Morning! Have a great day!!
  12. I think the "VOID" one over the ex's name was funny!!
  13. Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing!
  14. Focus on the basics all around. One thing that irritated me was after the new Ragsdale school opened. They have all this nice architecture on the building, then within a month of the students returning to school, we are all asked to do a fundraiser for a copy machine for the school. HELLO!?!?!?! Sell that nice big window in the front and buy the necessities! Yes, fancy things are nice to have, but paying our teachers and buying supplies necessary to teach is even better. This is just a small example of priorities being in the wrong place. I know this gripe is minor, but it is just small
  15. I never had these tests, but I would think even though the stress it causes, that the doctors would be more likely to give a false positive than a false negative. They will suggest further tests, rather than telling you that everything is fine for sure. Its their way of being cautious. Relax, worrying wont change anything. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
  16. Rib eye on the grill, and fries. I was lacking a veggie...so I ate more fries!!
  17. It is visible. Turn left on Goldmine from 278, then its on the left, maybe 1/4 mile after you turn onto Goldmine. It is a pretty small sign that says something like "Argo Lake $7". We've never been, so I'm not sure what it all is. I know its a very small road that leads down to it.
  18. I have to agree with Barbed Wire on the GA standard deduction. It is very off balanced from the federal, and probably most states. The most I have ever owed for state taxes (not in GA) was $85. Same income, expenses, kids, etc, owe Georgia $700.
  19. Yah, you're not sounding too convincing!! I hope you are feeling better soon for both of your sakes!!
  20. LOL!! What about armadillos, raccoon, and skunk?? I will definatley have to start driving at dusk and dawn more often!! Between that and coupons......
  21. You will need to put cages around them because they will be too heavy to stand on their own. Mine are over 2 feet tall and were already drooping. I just put some 4 foot wooden stakes next to them, and tied the stalks to it with tape meant for it, but I have to get some cages to help support the branches very soon. This is my first time planting them too.
  22. Oh..my herniated discs would so love to be entered in this!! Thanks!
  23. Oh my! I'm glad it seems they reacted quickly and everyone is away from the area. Prayers for the authorities responding.
  24. I dont think there is anyone on here that said they would do nothing. Many have said they would call 911, including myself. I have devoted myself to my children and promised to make the right decisions and do the best I can at taking care of and raising them. Getting into the middle of a scuffle where there may be weapons, is not fulfilling my obligation as a parent. My parental responsibilities are first and foremost, and I'm sorry you dont see it that way. If someone asked for my help in a non-dangerouse situation, you bet I would do what I could. But I will not put my life in danger and
