  1. How many? I didnt quite hear you!!
  2. You just messed yourself out of a post by replying to both of these at once!! Just sayin....be careful!
  3. Hey Naturegirl! Hows your garden?? Everyone is loving my maters, including these ugly green grubworm/caterpillars I found the other day. Ate the darn leaves off the tops of one of my plants!! And the 5 cukes I have gotten so far are YUMMERS! Okay...back to the subject at hand-----(9800) so we dont get bumped into the wrong forum!
  4. It says they volunteered for it, and that one person had a blank but they didnt know who. It takes a certain person, thats for sure. I agree with the justice, but I'm not sure I could do it.
  5. I think pleasure would have been never having to deal with it to begin with. I see relief, and possibly pleasure that they can finally move on. They have been on this roller coaster ride of justice for a long time.
  6. Welllll...it has happened before a long time ago, and they were blamed for it. But last weekend, I woke up and it was on 84, I turned it down, and it went back to 84 again. Nobody was awake except for me. I dont think its programmable, and it doesnt happen at the same time every day, or even every week. Maybe its me, and I'm losing my mind??
  7. That must be why people look at me strange lately!!
  8. It doesnt undercut anything. They are celebrating the end of the nightmare that this man has put them through for years. We should not celebrate punishment any more? So, a murderer gets sentenced to life....should we not celebrate that because he will have to live his poor life behind bars...so sad...for him. I GUESS HE SHOULDNT HAVE KILLED ANYONE!!!! These ARE the victims, and this happens too much in life. Oh, he was abused, addicted to drugs at a young age, blah, blah, blah....you still get punished. Dont blame the victims as they have every right to any feelings they have about this
  9. Exactly, and I would be happy too. There are consequences for your actions, plain and simple. I would hope never to be in the shoes of the victims families, I cannot imagine the mixed emotions. I think its cruel punishment for victims to have to deal with the ongoing drama of appeals, and such. Having your family member murdered is enough...
  10. Our house, not our unit was froze this morning. I woke up freezing, and it was set on 63!!! Last week, I woke up and it was on 84, I changed it, and 3 hours later it was back on 84...either my thermostat is messed up, or I have a ghost.
  11. They were not celebrating the death, but celebrating on Monday, when he was denied his request for commutation.
  12. Thanks Subby! I really enjoyed those...they were much needed!
  13. I'm okay, but I had been worried that Pcom had gotten lost in the Bermuda Triangle.
  14. Wow. So much for patriotic honor. Very sad what this world is coming too when our children get in trouble for honoring our soldiers. What harm is a picture? Really? Unless its a child that drew a threatening picture, etc. Wasnt the police called last year because a parent went to the school to drop off a toy gun to their child for a school group? JROTC? If this is allowed, then certainly a picture of a childs loved one shouldnt be a big deal.
  15. I understand the "zero tolerance" and no guns in school, but 1 inch army men? Really? Are there any pictures in the history books that show fighting? I seem to recall seeing them. Anyway, it wasnt a toy gun, it was an army man. I would hope that soon, adults will start acting like adults, and stop making such childish decisions.
  16. It sounds like his alibi/excuse/story to his wife got out of hand!!!
  17. I have never thought much of people asking for money at intersections, except for the Shriners. Their cause is so great, I dont care how they get their money. The town I used to live in was very small, and the Fire Dept would set up asking for donations. They are fully able to hold a dance or something in town, that would give everyone something to do, as well as raise money. I will say one thing in defense of the youth sports teams--I would rather donate $3 than I would buy a box of donuts for $6. Either way, the team makes the same. 9 times out of 10 when my children do sports fundr
  18. I'm so sorry! My prayers are with you.
  19. I just want to make a point regarding scholarships. They are not all state or federal, and they dont all give "only" to a certain type of person. Such as the Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship..where race, religion, sex or national origin isnt a factor in if you qualify or not. Some of these names can be misleading. Besides, I could create a college scholarship program for blondes only, if I so chose to. History shows that white people forced them into their own "groups" and now we want to take it away?? There is money given for battered women...I'm not complaining
  20. Okay, you got my point across far better than I did!!
  21. It would be up to each group to organize and push for it. Native Americans do get upset that the tribal names are used so commonly in stores, towns, school sports teams, etc. You do hear about it. Just because there isnt a month to celebrate it, doesnt mean it has nothing to do with heritage. I do agree that many complaints from the NAACP are over the top and unnecessary, dont get me wrong. But, I see nothing wrong with anyone that wants to celebrate who they are. Black History Month is not a national holiday, it is not forced upon anyone to celebrate. Nobody (as adults) is forced to kn
  22. I fully understand what you are saying... BUT...the reason is heritage. There are many different things to celebrate each heritage, Irish, Native American, French, etc. To my knowledge there is no Native American movie channel, etc though. It should not be race based, but heritage based IMHO. I'm white, but that doesnt necessarily mean that I should be wearing a kilt. Everyone should be able to celebrate their heritage in whatever way they choose. I think if there was an "Irish Beauty Pageant" it wouldnt be frowned upon as much as if there was a "White Beauty Pageant".
  23. You pulled the definition, and still dont believe what she put in the add was racist?? "A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities"--This is exactly what she was doing.
  24. My thoughts exactly. I'm puzzled. The worst part of it, is that she was serious. Sometimes people put things on there specifically to be funny, or weird, etc just to make the "best of" list. But she was being serious. Really, have we not moved beyond this? And she is raising children....on and on it goes. I dont see any difference in caring for different skin colors, any more than I see a difference caring for a blonde child versus a red head. (Except for that firey red head attitude LOL). How is the care different? Maybe I will ask her......
