  1. I always mow so the grass goes back to where I'm about to mow again. I would not blow the clippings toward my own car, why would I blow it towards other people as they are driving? I also make sure not to blow my grass clippings in the neighbors garden...which is more important than the road. I have a big pet peave when the lawn service companies park in the road on corners so you cant see oncoming traffic, and have to drive on the wrong side of the road....even when the driveways are empty. I dont care about seeing grass in the road, as it will go away, but I dont like the thoughts of it hi
  2. Congratulations on the start of your new life. Every closed door, will open another. I'm sorry about the grief this must have caused you, and I truly hope you are feeling free of it!
  3. didnt we just have a thread about manufactured melons a few days ago??
  4. Yep! And he may not have been doing it because he LIKED to, but possibly to pay the bills. I think it would be a good idea to legalize it, and allow retired folk to garden all day, and earn some extra income!! 12 plants really isnt a lot, he may not have been putting ANY of it on the streets. I dont consider this a big bust, or even remotely making a difference in the "war on drugs".
  5. Same here. I am the one that deals with our drivers 99 percent of the time, and I get along better with them than I do other office staff. Many have said that if I ever leave, they are leaving. The problem here is that they actually have to be responisble, and answer their phone when they are called to make a delivery. Basically, they can choose to answer their phone, or choose not to. They have the ability to make any kind of money they want, depending on their motivation. People would be surprised to know how many people are actually saitsified with a $400 check rather than a $1000.
  6. The high unemployement dumps more people into the pool to choose from, therefore making it hard to decipher (sp) who is a quality employee and who isnt. They all have the "The economy is bad right now, I need a job so bad, willing to do anything" talk, then you hire them, and PUFF! nothing. We are going through the same thing where I work. Advertising for jobs, interviewing, and training is expensive. I bet we keep 1 out of 10 that are hired.
  7. Exactly! And to think we have all been looking to BP, and our government to actually do something!
  8. Here's a way to take charge of a situation. Good for them! Hinton, chief of the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department, said Monday he spent three weeks tangled in red tape before finally getting approval to do something that's never before been needed, much less tried: using a combination of barges and oil-blocking booms to keep crude out of the Magnolia River. On Sunday, the new system was finally in place at the mouth of Weeks Bay. Locals hope it will safeguard both the Magnolia River and the nearby Fish River, where the U.S. Postal Service operates what locals proudly call the
  9. This is great! I go through Hiram every day at 5pm, so this works out really well. Saturdays usually arent good, because I dont want to leave my house!!! Looking forward to getting some good food, that I can be happy about feeding to my children!
  10. I thought the salt water replaced the chlorine, no?? Shows what I know about pools!! Definately! With all those screaming kids...it should be mandatory!!
  11. I agree with using coupons. There are almost always Garnier Frutice coupons, and Walgreens is a good one to use them at. You used to be able to get them for free, but now I think with coupons, you can get it for $1 or so. I havnt bought any in a while! I like Pantene too, but it is expensive and I've found that Garnier products are similar on my hair.
  12. LPPT! I thought you were getting some fun going on in here! I've got nothing.
  13. Does anyone have the "before" picture?? In all honesty, he seems like a really well rounded person, and his wife. It seems that I would have to be a Gremlin, and jump in a puddle to duplicate myself in order to do what he does!!

    Accident?

Agreed. I've been a dispatcher for 13 years, and the worst call you could ever get is an accident call. I've been through 5 of them, luckily without any major injury, and no other cars involved. I would want to know BEFORE something happens. Also, prayers to everyone involved in this wreck. Please everyone, slow down and be careful.
  15. I'm glad you're okay Subby!! I think if it is obvious that nobody is injured, and neither party wants to file insurance then its okay to leave. The ONLY problem I could ever see is if you waved someone on, then they called saying you left the scene. It would be your word against theirs. If it was their fault, chances are they wouldnt do that. If it was MY fault, I would be worried that they could do that to me if they wanted to. As far as everyone being neighborly, and mature...its good. Its saves the time of the LEO, when they have more important things to be doing. I must admit
  16. I've never been to the gulf coast along the panhandle, and I've wanted to for years, since we moved here from the north. I know how you feel. Kicking myself in the butt now. I hope you get to go, and have a great time!!!!
  17. I read today that a prosecutor in the case said that the video of his confession was not reliable. He made a confession to a German reporter, but they never aired it because the things he said didnt add up to the facts. I think he was lying about it on tape to taunt everyone. Very sick individual, and I hope they bust him on this one. If not, karma will get him, and THEN he will be judged by someone qualified to do so.
  18. I am very sorry! As I was standing at the Marietta National Cemetery on Monday, it hurt my heart so much to think of all the lost lives, and the lives that will still be lost. RIP to this True American Hero...and my sincere condolences to his family and friends. Please continue to post information, as I would like for my boys and I to attend his homecoming.
  19. Welcome! And thank you for introducing yourselves!!!
  20. Going "Mama Bear" and being angry at an adult is far different than going "Papa Bear" and hitting a child. Obviously he cannot control his temper, and hits at first reaction. I feel bad for his kids...imagine how often he hits them without giving it any thought first. Did "Mama Bear" hit the adult because she didnt like what he did? No. She used far more self control with another adult, than he used with a child. Hitting in adult life doesnt solve or teach anything, just as it doesnt to a child. When a child is constantly acting up, and just will NOT listen, yes, a spank on the butt us
  21. Good luck!! I was induced with my 2nd, with only a few hours notice due to complications. I went from an ultrasound, home to get a bag, and to the hospital. The thoughts of walking into the hospital, willfully, and knowing what I was getting myslef into, was nerve racking in itself! Cuddling with that adorable little girl will make all the sleepless nights worth it!!
  22. I have a few thoughts on this. 1. I think sometimes parents think "wearing their kids butt out" solves the issue and raises them to be good people. Not necessarily. My children would have been more upset to be pulled from the water, and not allowed to go back. I've known parents that carry a belt with them at all times----and their chldren are still brats, and cuss even at their own parents. The belt doesnt bother them anymore. 2. I wouldnt have stuck up for my child to the other parent, in front of the children. The boy that pushed the other in the water was wrong, and that wronge
