I thought those costs were listed seperately.

I have to agree with you here. In reading the possile cuts it says 12 supervisory positions and 22 office staff (this wording isnt exact), but anyway.....34 positions to save 2.6 million. That is an average pay of $76,470 per person? And this comes after I was looking at all the state jobs that are available right now that start in the 30K range --for Probation Officers, Psychologists, etc. You get the point.

Just because its their backyard doesnt make it safe. There are many people that go to sleep scared at night because of where they live. He was a good man for helping, and I'm sorry that help didnt reach him sooner. Maybe we should examine the 911 system, how "wrong" was the address? Were they 200 feet from him, and not search? Did they drive by and mistake him as a homeless man as well? My point is, 911 was called, more than once.
-
Me too. The one taking the picture was definately wrong, even if they thought they were just taking it of a homeless person. Still wrong. But, I can fully understand why people would not have just stopped and hung out there waiting for help. Its not like its someone laying in the parking lot at Scotts store or Kroger. I believe it was in the Bronx. Heck, when I was driving through I didnt even want to stop at red lights. You have to kind of put yourself in that EXACT situation, not what you would do if it happened in your neighborhood. The people that passed by could very well ha

I get your point, but have you ever driven through NYC?? If everyone called the police everytime someone drives or walks by someone sleeping in the streets, there would be millions of calls a day. Yes, if you see blood, you should report it. But, stop and put yourself in the shoes of the person that happens to come upon this. How do you know the killer is not lurking around the corner? I would me damned scared, and wouldnt be hanging around, I can clue you in to that. Call 911, and keep a safe distance.
-
No, I believe that was under him. It was not visible that he was stabbed as reported by a bystander, and the one that did move him, could have been the 911 caller. People thought he was sleeping which is not uncommon.
-
If I read correctly, not everyone ignored him. 911 was called, but the address was given wrong and they never showed up until a 2nd call was made. Would I have bent over him to move him or offer assistance? No. Its NYC, how do you know it wasnt a ploy to mug you?? I would have called 911 though.

everyone please think when you get behind the wheel

Yep, thats all I ask for. As far as driving slow on 2 lanes, it depends on how slow you are driving and what the circumstances are. If there is no issue stopping, and its not a heavily traveled road, I would probably pull over and let someone by. I have had really bad back problems, but I still have to work. I still drive the speed limit, but I stop and start a lot slower to prevent the extra movement on my back. I dont think its obnoxiously slow though, its probably how people should drive anyway. It also may save on the brakes!! -

Here are things that upset me about slow drivers: 1. They drive 10 mph under the speed limit, in the left lane--next to someone else doing the same thing. 2. They pull out onto a 4 lane...directly into the left lane, then take forever to get up to speed, if ever. You should also pull out into the right lane until you build speed (unless making an immediate left turn). I see people do this all the time from Goldmine Road onto 278. I almost saw a young girl get hit at 65mph because she surprised the person traveling in the left lane by jumping directly in front of him. Luckily, he reac -

It kind of makes you wonder what we are doing wrong with our children that we will find out 10-15 years from now. I dont think anyone is saying that it is "right", or that it shouldnt be a law.....My point is that there is no way that the LEO could ever keep up if we all called them every time we saw something. -
I dont have any tatoos, but if I did, it would be a celebration of my body, not destroying it!!! Its showing pride in your body, and many times, tatoos are of things that are held very dear to you for one reason or another!! BTW--the toxins we put in our bodies everyday from starch to bleach is destroying our bodies more so than an image would!! Hello??

Same here. BTW: Your avatar is very disturbing!!

I thought it was too, as I'm still on the coffee, but to each their own!!! She is tipping one back right now, and ignoring us!! We can talk about her now!

I cant remember the website that compares rates, but when I used it, for some reason Geico didnt come up. I was using Travelers and paying about 115 a month for it. When I compared the rates, most of them were similar to Travelers price. I went on Geico's, and I'm now paying around $52 a month. Nothing changed, I've never had a ticket or wreck. I strongly recommend shopping auto insurance every year.

Checking gin?!?! I dont care for gin, but if you have margaritas thats another story!!

While I dont agree with what these people were doing, I have to agree with Snikerfitz as well. It is against the law to drive 56 in a 55....do we call the cops on those people as well?? Seatbelts werent in many cars when a lot of us were children, and we are here to be discussing this today. Yes, traffic has changed, and pigs would fly before I would allow my children in a car without being buckled in ordinary circumstances. What were the circumstances of this parents choice..does anyone know?? No. Was the baby sick, and they were on their way to the doctors? With the only way to ke -
Thats what I was thinking--business trip, hmmmmmmmmmm......sure!

Better a hammer than a chainsaw!!!! BTW Subby--will that method work on my boyfriend?
-
Yep, thats what I call mine, and my kids call me Mom, or better yet "Moooooooooommmmmmmmm!!". I think a daughter calling her Dad "Daddy" sounds sweet, but "Mommy" sounds a little funny. Thats just me though!!

I'd rather have natural over synthetic anything, anyday.

Thats really good of you. I can understand a kid being a little scared, and not really knowing how to handle it. Its very good that you will be guiding this person through the responsible way of dealing with it. The lesson of how the easy road isnt always the best road.

I'm not sure if it was mothers day, but my son brought home this one day..and its very cheap. Cover pine cones with peanut butter, and roll in bird seed. Put a nice string on it for hanging outside for the birds. Times are tough---dont go too elaborate!!!
