  1. I, too, worry about the breast cancer correlation - have a HIGH rate of breast cancer in my family. My mothers cancer doctor recommended J.A.S.O.N products. I love it. I pay a little more, but, it doesn't take as much as my old product did so it seems to last forever and it doesn't leave the white mess on my clothes. Also, one brand I had used in the past seemed to "bleach out" some of my blouses under the arms. J.A.S.O.N. has never done that. From the website: Tea Tree Deodorant Stick This natural deodorant combines age-old botanical secrets for long-lasting protection. JASON T
  2. I found the "legislative history" of the SFSP, if interested here it is from beginning to end: Legislative History The foundation for SFSP was laid during a three year pilot project started in 1968. The Separate Child Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program became permanent in 1975. Program participation reached an all-time peak of nearly 2.8 million children in 1977. In addition to growth, however, several provisions contributing to abuse and inefficiency were identified. The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981 made major changes in the program, the most significan
  3. Once a program is began by our government, I don't think it's shutdown is it??
  4. From the SFSP website (The Summer Food Service Program) Who can receive meals at an approved feeding site? All children 18 years of age or under are eligible to receive free meals and snacks at sites located: • in areas where at least half of the children are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals; or • where children enroll in an activity program and at least half of the children are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
  5. It let me do it - one on credit card/one on debit card and the third I had sent to my Mom's address.....oh this sounds awful....making me ashamed I cheated.
  6. I've just purchased some....we'll see if it really works with no limitations other than 3D movies..... My link $4 Movie Tickets: You can buy a Gold Experience Movie Ticket for $4 (value $12.50) good at any AMC®, Loews®, Cineplex Odeon, Magic Johnson, and Star theatres in the Metro Atlanta area. That's a 68 percent discount and the tickets can be used seven days a week. edited to say it's only 1 per customer. I ordered one in each of our names - yeah, I know, that ain't right - movies are expensive & I'm a stay at home mom - so, I cheated - shoot me.
  7. If the person is currently in custody, you can see the charges/counts/bond amount/status here: My link
  8. Our church has the "Stitchin Sallies" - they make turbans for cancer victims, things for newborns, quilting, etc. I've seen some of what they make and it's incredible. It's all for different missions/outreach.....If interested, it's Due West United Methodist on Due West Road....you could call and I'm sure the secretary could give you more info.
  9. I'd thought this all along. Good to see someone put it in print. Excerpt: There’s very little in here that does anything to contain costs. When you look at what’s driving insurance premiums, it’s the fact that the actual cost of health care services is going up and up and up, and there’s a lot of reasons for that. But there isn’t a whole lot in here that actually pulls that cost curve down. My link
  10. Has there every been any answers for why programs for kids - sports/band/etc - have become so outrageous?
  11. Heading down Hwy 41 today in Cobb & same thing was happening at a huge intersection over near Adams Park. The kids jumping around with signs & two of them fell off of the curb - horns were blaring, people swerving trying to go around where people were giving money and the light had changed - just too dangerous. I'm surprised we don't hear of kids getting seriously injured this way. I agree with fundraising. I let kids wash my car for that type of thing when I see it and toss in $10 - $20. But, I'm not giving money to kids running up to my window on a busy highway. If something ha
  12. Hey guys.....just booked a hotel on Florida's east coast for the end of June....I asked for any discouts/specials being ran at this time. Georgia Residents are receiving special rates at many chains - per the person who registered me. We're getting a suite in a nice hotel with balcony overlooking beach/ocean and got 30% off. Ending up saving us over $300. Where ever you're looking - ask for discounts. He said they were trying to keep Georgia people coming to Florida - no matter where - just getting us to Florida and not going to other states....
  13. Amelia Island for 4 days, Jacksonville Beach for 3 day.....
  14. I believe, by lack of planning/preparing/funding, we've allowed our schools to become too large. How many of us go to a building every day and remain there for 8 hours with that many people? To me, it's just too much. Maybe I'm just old.
  15. The OP speaks many truths. Maybe not a single parent on pcom is part of the problem, but, and it is the truth, we parents should take a good hard investigative look at ourselves and what we ask of the teachers/administrators/school systems - AND - WHAT THOSE "OTHER" PARENTS are asking for their kids - and we'll see that we as parents have caused so much of the overall problems. I'm not talking about the downturn in the economy and it's effect. The schools were in trouble before this and many thought the answer was to throw more money at the problem. Maybe this is a wake up call to us
  16. I've been wondering how it works these days since my dad made a comment after my nephews graduation - "Guess these kids are smarter than y'all were because every 3rd or 4th name was "with honors"." This was at Harrison in Cobb.
  17. Being an old fart (1962), I have a scar on my hip from the old metal slides they had when I was a kid. My mother had enough sense to make us stay off of the ones at Powder Springs Park & at the Marietta Square in the heat of the day and she'd run the water hose on our swingset before she let us play on it. Again, I don't care who put what where - the mother must take responsibility here; however, she won't and there will be a lawsuit and everyone pays......
  18. Hmmmm.....never date/marry someone named Peterson???? I hope this is her for her family/children's sake. I can't imagine not knowing what happened to my loved one....
  19. Well, that should make this easier... My link
  20. I think all MacBooks are manufactured in Shanghai, China......Being a Mac laptop, I can't "lift my keyboard" But, I did ask the rep at the store when I bought it - hoping that it was made in the USA...
  21. I work very very hard to make sure that I'm buying American.....it's hard and you have to be willing to pay more. Until it was brought to my attention about a year or so ago, I didn't realize how much meat/fish we imported - now I buy groceries in whole new way. Some companies are beginning to bring business back as the prices have increased in other countries. My link I've read that people who came to work in the US from India are beginning to go back. They made good money & now can afford to live well in their home country.
  22. Yeah, I need to get out of this topic and go back to M & M's and songs.....
  23. From the OP: my son pushed the other kid in and then jumped in after him. Something he does all the time with my other kids. My oldest son and I were out on the lake in a boat and saw all of this go down. The dad started screaming and cussing at my son to get out of the water. My son kept saying he was sorry. He then reached down and pulled my son out of the water by the loop of his life jacket and wore his butt out. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. This had to take longer than 30 seconds - She SAW her child push the other in & jump in - She SAW/HEARD the screaming/cussing-
  24. Does it have to be in Paulding? Henry's Uptown - above Henrys Louisiana Grill in downtown Acworth is a nice space to have parties.
