  1. How about a donation to the "Human Fund" in their honor
  2. It wasn't what I would consider a "pre fab" house of today per se. The house was built in the late 30's. It's built like any other house, except that all the pieces were numbered and delivered to the lot. My neighbor was the previous owner's brother and still had the plans and prints for the house. It was pretty cool. I'd love to find another one from that era.
  3. I lived in a Sears kit home in MA. It was one of the most well built, sturdy houses I have ever been in.
  4. After reading this topic you'd think that everyone gets great benefits...which we all know isn't true.
  5. My husband receives 12 paid holidays, up to four weeks of paid time off (or can save that and take UNpaid time off). He also gets paid $100 a month not to use the company's health insurance. He has a 401k with matching funds and a deferred compensation plan. They reimburse us for all tax prep fees up to $2k a year. But he lives in a tent and works in a combat zone Edited to add: he has worked for the company for seven months.
  6. I LOVE my Garmin Nuvi as well. I've never had a problem with it around here and I haven't updated it. It even got me around Hawaii with ease.
  7. That hydroponic lettuce is pretty good! Got some in my farmer's basket and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I put it in some water and left it out on the counter. Apparently my cat enjoyed it more than I did
  8. Iceberg is a waste of money. It's nothing but water with no nutritional value. Plus, I've notice the leafier, greener "lettuces" last longer. The "green bags" really do work too. I use them for all my refrigerated fruits and veggies (my fridge is full because I juice twice a day) and they last A LOT longer. The key to the green bags is to make sure that the fruit or veggie is dry when you put it in the bag.
  9. I'd take one if you are still offering
  10. I LOVE that commercial. Finally, the Native Americans can get a little bit of money back from the white man.
  11. Was it the part about the gift? If so, I had a problem there too. I just put anything and then clicked the box that says something about "don't let the elves disclose the gift info" or something like that. In the video, it never mentioned a gift. I'm so immature but there was something too funny about hearing Santa say, "you fart in bed".
  12. OMG, the ones for naughty adults are hilarious. I'm sending one to my husband
  13. I got all choked up watching it on the news tonight. I've been in that very hangar, waiting for my husband to come home. It's such an unexplainable yet wonderful feeling. WELCOME HOME!
  14. That's what I got from reading it too. Niiiiiiice. There's some of that Christmas Spirit
  15. WalMart has been open on Thanksgiving for YEARS and I've never heard any bitching about it. Since when did Thanksgiving become a Christian holiday anyway?
  16. There is a "Food" forum... http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/forum/66-thoughts-for-food/
  17. You become a "Nielsen Family". Nielsen tv ratings randomly selects people to use their ratings service. I was a Neilsen family for 2 years. I had the boxes on all my tv's, and each person in my house had a number they had to press when watching tv. There were also numbers for guests so Nielsen could track their tv habits as well. We were paid for it and it was kind of cool knowing that what I was watching DIRECTLY effected broadcasting. The installation of my ratings boxes took a full eight hours by 6-8 people. And it took equally as long for them to remove it when I moved. This was
  18. That is what I've always heard/read as well...Super Bowl time/February.
  19. Do you have to be a certain distance away to get the mileage re-imbursement, and/or service connected? My DH has never been reimbursed for his trips to Decatur, but I never bothered to look further into it. I've had TriCare reimburse me for travel to certain doctors/hospitals outside of the area. It was surprisingly easy. I'll have to look into the VA for my husband.
  20. I hate biscuits. I also can't stand fried chicken , or almost anything fried for that matter. Oh yeah, and foods made with canned cream of crud soup.
  21. I believe it's the same as "disorderly house". I'm guessing that's what they charge hoarders with as well. That article was nearly impossible to read. I don't think I've ever seen such poor grammar typed out before. Wow. I didn't watch the video because I was sure it would be even worse to try to listen to it.
  22. Marietta's is December 3rd and 4th http://www.mariettapilgrimage.com/
