  1. Yep, it's everyone else's fault but the consumer. Time for more laws, rules, and regulations. Sigh.
  2. Ralph Roberson is the best! We used him more times than I can remember, and will continue to do so on our rental property. And even though we no longer live in the US, we continue to use Kelly Landscapes as well. They are the most reliable and professional landscape company out there. Glad both Ralph and Kelly were as good to you as they have been for us.
  3. Isn't the Pier One still in The Avenue West Cobb? I figure the Olive Garden rumor is right up there with the Lowe's and Red Lobster BS. I've been reading about it for 11 years now.
  4. Yay, CONGRATS on the homecoming!!!! As the wife of a now retired Marine who went through many, many deployments and homecomings....KEEP IT SIMPLE. After a few days, you can throw a party with all kinds of family and friends. But for the first few days, low key is BY FAR the best option. Make his favorite dinner and then let him dictate what he wants to do next. Don't overwhelm with too much just days after leaving a combat zone. It is going to be an adjustment for him.
  5. I think I saw/almost stepped on this girl at the beach the other day.
  6. I read it as the former Marine was the witness who the victim fell onto after being shot. I don't know why they always add the former occupation when it has nothing to do with the story.
  7. I love it and have been using it for years. It's a bit different using it outside the US but with a VPN, I can still get the same Netflix and other programming. Have you added any private channels yet? There are a bazillion out there to choose from. Between Roku, laptop and HDMI cable, I don't need to pay for much. Not even NFL games
  8. Oh yes, must legislate good manners. Got to have a law for everything.
  9. Thank you! I wish I could try it out right now, dangit.
  10. I've always been afraid to try this for fear it would melt the plastic all over the seals, etc. So do you just seal it like you would the regular foodsaver bags? I ended up buying this one http://www.target.com/p/foodsaver-vacuum-kit/-/A-10971464#prodSlot=medium_1_4&term=foodsaver I got tired of shopping for boring things online so I didn't get the bags yet. But I'll check out some of the links, thanks!
  11. My Foodsaver just bit the dust so I'm resurrecting this topic. I NEED IT! I live outside the country and cannot find them here. So I'll have to order one online and pick it up when I fly up to Chicago next month (YUCK!) I definitely want another Foodsaver brand but there are so many freaking models to look at online. I don't care so much about price as I do quality. Just curious if everyone who recommended one previously is still happy with theirs. And what model was it? Oh, and I need to buy a lot of rolls too. ANyone know any good online deals off hand?
  12. Ummm, I think that just gave me one sleepless night.
  13. I don't understand the "Gender Reveal Party" gig. Is this an entirely separate party from the Shower? Two parties and the kid isn't even born yet. OK. Seems so over the top and self absorbed to me. But that appears to be the way society is leaning now anyway.
  14. I had to take a "Constitution Test" to pass 8th grade. Surprisingly, a huge amount of that info stuck. We spent the entire year studying for the test so it was drilled into my head by May. Too bad more states do not require that type of test.
  15. I'm sure they are pretty and all but it's just glorified littering (or potentially worse).
  16. LMAO! A facial for a friggin doll?!? Whomever invented AG is brilliant!
  17. Here's a decent looking one for $600 on Paris Circle in Hiram http://hotpads.com/apartments/Rental-Residential,-Ranch---Hiram,-GA-Hiram-GA-30141--127683w1x6x#limit=5&lat=33.867500305176&lon=-84.75406646728499&zoom=20&previewId=127683w1x6x&previewType=listing&detailsOpen=true&listingTypes=rental,sublet,room,corporate&propertyTypes=house,divided,condo,townhouse,medium,large,garden,&dupeGrouping=building
  18. Refrigerator. I can and have lived without hot water recently. We don't have a dishwasher, they are very rare in Costa Rica. I don't need a dryer because everything can and does dry quite well on the line. We have dry cleaners and laundry places so I can get away without that. Don't need A/C since it's perfect weather. I can cook without a stove, even thought I wouldn't be happy about it. Hell, that's what restaurants are for. But I don't know what in the hell I'd do without a fridge/freezer. If wifi were considered an appliance, it would get my vote for most needed.
  19. Maybe you were mistaken. Because we left doesn't mean we don't love the US. We are still proud Americans. We opted for a change of pace. I just find it interesting that now that it effects you, you are all up in arms. This isn't the first time military retirees have faced cuts in care and increases in costs. Sadly, it won't be the last.
  20. No, my husband is not livid. Not happy but we both saw this coming along with other cutbacks. There is a reason we moved out of the US. DH was not promised a yearly COLA with retirement. In fact, for the first two years of his retirement, he didn't get one. DH can still work. He would rather make sure that those who cannot work due to P&T UE see the COLA as warranted by inflation rates, as would I.
  21. Get a good juicer and supplement one meal a day with a nutritious veggie/fruit juice. I juice everyday and have for a few years now. Not only do you get some excellent nutrients, vitamins, and minerals immediately but it gives you a boost of energy as well. Otherwise, check out Skinnytaste.com for great low fat, WW friendly, and Vegetarian recipes. I've never made a recipe from that site that I didn't like. Best of luck to ya!
