The Marine Corps has banned these for years. We have a friend who went from enlisted to officer but first had to have his sleeved tats lasered off. Join the military and you don't have the freedoms that you fight for. It's just the way it is and kind of the way it has to be. Not sure why this is a big deal.

If he has luggage, you'll need to meet him at baggage claim at the new INTERNATIONAL Terminal. Otherwise, he can meet you outside the old domestic terminal. Be wary calling Delta. They told me when I flew in from Pittsburgh that I had to pick up my bags in the new international terminal. Yeah, that was an hour of my time wasted. When flying into ATL via Int, it's a longggggggg walk for the passenger so be prepared to wait awhile outside baggage claim.

I think if you have to ask, then you will be just fine with an IPad. I love my Macbook and I don't see any real comparison between the two. Apples and Oranges to me. If you need a Laptop/Macbook, then you already know it. Otherwise, an IPad will suffice.

Every base is different. My husband has been waved through more often than not without ID check at Camp Lejeune. That was when they still used base stickers. Security on the NAS Atlanta side is an absolute joke. I was there in June and we both laughed at how ridiculous they were. If you could get them to stop talking to each other to notice you, a simple flash of an ID card got us in. I mean two second flash, and they looked at it from 4-5 feet away.
