  1. He may want to consider his options personally, but there is no law requiring him to step down. He has not been declared mentally incompetent. I wish him the best and hope he gets all the help that he needs. What makes you think that he is required to give up his office?
  2. Generally speaking, without extenuating circumstances of some sort, the fine is a pre-determined amount regardless of the plea. The judge has some leeway, but most jurisdictions will add court cost of up to $100 to any fine if you appear in court and "lose". My advice - if you do the crime, pay the dime. Send the money in and chalk it up to a lesson learned. I would say that your chance of walking out of that courthouse with a reduced fine are somewhere between slim and none.
  3. As is typical of the AJC, the article is misleading. There is no "Delay". The jurisdiction has up to 3 business days from the either the date the requested records are complete or the date of the GORA request, which ever is later. Corp Gurley said that it "might take "the full three days" for the department to provide a copy of the police incident report and 911 tape." Just exactly how is that "delaying the release of the report. Typical biased, inaccurate reporting by the AJC. Paulding County is complying with the law.
  4. I hope that he gets all the medical and spiritual help that he needs.
  5. We have a small group of teenagers that throw beer cans and cigarette packs out of the car before getting back to one of their mama's house. One day on my walk I gathered them all up and placed them in a nice row on the front porch when nobody was home. For some reason the amount of Bud Lite and Camel Filter trash dropped to zero.
  6. Just a reminder that the viewing is this afternoon from 4 til 8 for any who wish to attend.
  7. This is from a similar lawsuit at AZ State: The groups say the Kindle has text-to-speech technology that reads books aloud to blind students, but that the device’s menus do not offer a way for blind students to purchase books, select a book to read, or even to activate the text-to-speech feature, according to a joint statement by the two groups. In a lawsuit filed last week, a journalism student was also named as a plaintiff. “While my peers will have instant access to their course materials in electronic form, I will still have to wait weeks or months for accessible texts to be pr
  8. Wow, my annual physical includes a full blood panel, urine, ekg, prostate, blood pressure, height, weight, temp., reflexes, medication review, and a good 10 minutes of discussion about anything that concerns me. Granted the old body has become a little high maintenance lately, but I think this is a normal annual exam. I'd be looking for another family doctor.
  9. Unfortunately, these issues are now defined in the public arena by partisanship and ideology rather than by rigorous, empirical thought and forthright analysis and discussion. - Lou Dobbs from the link in the OP. That pretty much says it right there.
  10. I've seen bar fights over eye color. I rather imagine that alcohol had far more to do with it than race.
  11. I have posted the obituary and funeral info for our friend, Dewayne Nowell, in the May They Rest In Peace Forum : http://paulding.com/forum/index.php?/topic/229205-dewayne-nowell/page__view__findpost__p__2985715 Thank you again for your support.

  13. Be careful on Williams Lake Road. There is a small amount of water already flowing over the road at the west end of the lake near Laird, and the roadway is completely covered by about 2 ft. of water in the usual spot at the sharp curve. I saw a car that was unable to see the shoulder drop off there and damage their wheel.
  14. Their main purpose is to give you a home that is presumably free of the triggers that exist "out there". They provide a peer group unlikely to buy any bull and likely to spot a slip, they provide rules, structure, and a sense of belonging. They help transition you from intense recovery to independence. Other services like job assistance vary, so ask questions.
  15. That 3 inches......You're talking about rain right? Just want to be clear.
  16. Every Time I ever got a job in New York City, I just grinned when they made fun of my accent. I wondered if it ever dawned on them that if I live 1000 away from them and still took the job away from the locals, why are they laughing? And why is it when we ate in the same deli more than 3 times the owner always wanted us to try a tongue sandwich? Yeah, when you eat pickled pigs feet. I will say though that as a parting gift after a two week job, one deli made us grits for breakfast on our last day. It proved that there are some good Yankees, and that yes, you can screw up grits.
  17. Our friend passed from this life officially at 6:30 PM. As a final gesture befitting a man of his character and his love for his fellow man, he was an organ donor. I will post particulars when arrangements are announced, and want to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
  18. They are grateful for all the support you have given, and spoken of your kindness and prayer. A decision should be made this evening. We still have the kids and while they are somewhat hopeful, the boy is quiet and the girl won't let me out of her sight. When the phone rang a couple of hours ago, the boy asked if his daddy was still alive. Our hearts are completely broken.
  19. The school is aware of the situation. I just brought the kids and their mom home from the hospital. She is going to have another talk with them, get them supper and a bath and then we are going to bring them back to our house to spend the night and she is going back to Kennestone. The Docs want to do a profusion test in the morning before removing life support, but they have said that the 12 hour wait is protocol and that they do not expect a positive outcome at all. We'll probably keep the kids out of school tomorrow, but I guess they will go back Tuesday. Everybody is just running on ad
  20. Congratulations on your year. As you say it is possible to despise the actions without hating the person. You can not know a person from a moment's observation or understand their condition from it's outward symptoms. If I'm keeping tally of your score, who's tallying mine?
  21. The kids and their mother went to Church this morning, and then with their Pastor, will go to the hospital to say their goodbyes and to pray for their father's/husband's eternal peace. He will then most likely be removed from life support. We can not take tomorrow for granted and leave our good deeds undone. Please continue your prayers support for this family.
  22. Back in ancient times when someone else held reins on the company card instead of me, they wouldn't approve a tip over 15%. Now that I own my own business and it comes out of my pocket anyway, I tip the usual 20%. (P.S. - That company was owned by a bunch of Yankees from Philadelphia )
  23. Funny, I'm from the South, my parents grew up in the South, most of my friends are native Southerners or long time residents, and we all have never tipped less than 15% or $2 per person whichever is greater. That's how I was raised. In fact I usually tip 20% now because I know that times are tough and servers are just getting by. In fact, if I eat at a place like a Waffle House (told ya I was Southern) I usually wind up leaving about 25% because those folks work their tails off and the food is cheap. Comment on the South my Rebel arse. I've traveled all over this country and have not seen
