I'm looking for books for learning disabled children. They are 10-11 years old, boys and girls, that read at about a 1st to 2nd grade level. The books that they are able to read with help can't hold their attention because they are older. I'd like to help these kids learn to read. Any Ideas?

Can't have Vonage here without ATT or Comcast.

I think that what happened in New York's 23rd district shows the folly of local party leadership not allowing a legitimate challenger full entry into a primary race against a favored candidate. Had the Republicans not forced Hoffman into a third party, they would have won the 23rd easily, instead of losing by a slim margin to the Democratic candidate. My personal opinion of this particular politician's performance is less than stellar. Obviously it is not based upon any disease that he may have and I wish him the best. But if as many people have a negative opinion of his performance as it

So after 3 MONTHS of twice weekly alternating begging and threats, I got a hold of a main corporate office customer no-service representative for Comcast. She made the mistake of giving me her direct line, and I guess that she doesn't have caller ID. I called her every morning for 2 weeks to get a progress report. I guess I finally got her pissed off enough to get into somebody's face at the construction department, because this morning a supervisor and a line truck showed up. The supervisor had no comment. Three freaking months to get them to come out and move their line from a broken pol

Atlanta TV reports Glenn Richardson's 911 tape

Let me try to be more clear. I agree 100% that as long as all tapes are public that Mr. Richardson's tape should be too. That's the present law. He is nothing special. OK? Let that sink in for a minute.................. Now, what I do not agree with is the premise that just because a 911 tape is on a government computer, that it should be automatically regurgitated because someone issued a GORA request. In fact, there are cases every day at all levels of State Government where information of a proprietary or personal nature in otherwise public records is redacted. Think about the fact -
Atlanta TV reports Glenn Richardson's 911 tape

Did I say that those tapes were special because they had anything at all to do with a political figure?????? No I did not. They contain personal information that you and I don't need to know to improve our understanding of or the transparency of our government. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with WHO is on the tapes, it has to do with WHAT is on the tapes. The fact that something so personal as a 911 tape of a suicide attempt, any suicide attempt, resides on a publicly owned database shouldn't make it automatically subject to a GORA request. -
Then by all means carry on with your passive aggressiveness.

Atlanta TV reports Glenn Richardson's 911 tape

Wow you found a lot of typeface between those lines didn't you. I never even implied by the slightest inflection that he was special. I wouldn't want your mom's voice to be broadcast all over the airwaves either if you were in the same situation. Some things are personal even if they happen to be on a computer that we bought and paid for. -
And some others wouldn't.

Could you enlighten me?

I'm not sure what you mean about a personal agenda. Did I miss it?

Atlanta TV reports Glenn Richardson's 911 tape

Some things that are open to GORA shouldn't be. The release of these particular tapes only fuels the National Enquirer mentality and does absolutely nothing to further openness in government. I sincerely hope that no outlet is crass enough to post a full transcript or even worse, the actual tape itself, even though we all know that they would be within their rights to do so. Some things shouldn't be done just because you can. -

What a horrible situation. I wish him the best and pray for his recovery. -
" Every year, without treatment at all, thousands of people stop suffering from depression. Because it kills them." Dr. Paul Greengard, Nobel Prize winner, Physiology, Medicine "You'd never say, it's just cancer, get over it. So why do some say that about depression?" - From a PSA sponsored by the American Psychiatric Foundation | Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance | Mental Health America | National Alliance on Mental Illness | National Medical Association I know that this concept may be hard to grasp, but it is true. Depression can be every bit as deadly as Cancer.

What a horrible loss. A parent should never have to bury one child, let alone two. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family and their friends.

My mother died of Emphysema and Alzheimers, and I lost 4 cousins to suicide and two to cancer. I was at one time years ago undergoing treatment for depression, and I currently have Cancer and Heart Disease. I have counseled with others that have died as a direct or indirect result of depression and addiction. I can make such a comparison, and I can tell you the pain in the eyes of one of my cousins that died weeks later from a self inflicted shotgun blast to the face was every bit as real as the pain in my mother's eyes as she was gasping for breath or my cousin's that died from Uterine Cancer

I'm glad you qualified that statement, because it is complete bunk.

The judgment I was speaking about was your zero lack of sympathy. Allow those of us who have been left to deal with the aftermath of suicide to decide if it was selfish or not. I understand that you have a great loss, and I'm not trying to minimize that or to be mean or disrespectful. Just please don't judge the validity of the pain that a person who suffers from depression or a person who attempts or carries out a suicide is experiencing. None of us are qualified to make that judgment. If you believe that Mr. Richardson's depression is a reason to not vote for him, then that is a per

First, let me say that I am very very sorry that you lost your wife to such a horrible disease. That does not however give you the right to sit in judgment of others, nor give you some sort of understanding of what is in another person's mind. I firmly believe that if you knew all of the circumstances behind many instances of attempted and completed suicides, that you might soften your response. If you truly are interested in the subject, please do some research. My initial response to every suicide I have known personally was hurt, then anger, then some form understanding. Each of the

Absolutely. There is a plethora of information on line and in print ( those funny things on paper). I don't know how one human being can purport to know what is in another person's heart in a moment of desperation, especially when they have never even met. I too have similar experiences (yes multiple). I am very sorry for your loss.

Just to emphasize, this is only in Britain.
