  1. Like I always say, it can snow Christmas eve as long as it is melted by Christmas afternoon. That's it.
  2. Thank you for that clarification. I am sure that the law will be changed this January. A child who is under the care and control of an adult is indeed "in custody", and for that adult to have a sexual relationship with that child is immoral, irrational, and I am confident it is soon to be once again illegal.
  3. Yup. You're in the middle of Ice Storm Country. I'd much rather have snow.
  4. That reminds me of Herschel Walker. He was a good kid and a hard worker in school, but he sounded like a dumb ol' hick when somebody shoved a microphone in his face. After he left UGA he realized that his comportment would have to change and took lessons in diction and manners. He now sounds like the successful player and businessman that he is.
  5. When I was a 6 year old kid I accidentally walked out of a store with a couple of pieces of penny candy in my pocket. I found it on the way home and told my Dad. He turned the car around and made me apologize to the store owner and pay for the candy, which my Dad then threw in the trash. He also paddled me when we got home. Needless to say, I learned that lesson. How many parents would do that today?
  6. We lived in a 700 sq ft house right after we were married, and I'd have to say never again. Even if we got rid of half of our stuff we still couldn't get out of each other's way. Well maybe if it had a detached 4 car garage with a workshop...........
  7. Beware of large groups of men with cell phones.
  8. The number that I saw was 1300 ballots. That would be enough to change the outcome if the majority went to Reed. Reed seams like a nice enough guy, but his administration will be just a continuation of the same behind the scenes political favoritism, since little more than the name on the fancy door will change. The same political machine that has been in place since Maynard Jackson ran Reed as their candidate. Those who are happy with the status quo should be pleased.
  9. Very True. One time in my life I took advantage of one of those deals where if you buy space in the paper for a certain period of time, the paper will design your ad for free. Let me just say that I got what I paid for. They misspelled my company name. Only camera ready art since then. I will also add that my spelling sux. That's why I always have someone else read outgoing correspondence to double check the spell check.
  10. A couple of years before we dated she came over to my house with my old College roommate's girlfriend. I thought she was kinda cute, but we were both otherwise occupied at the time. Two years later my old college roommate moved back to Atlanta, and he and his girlfriend needed a roommate. That same cute little redhead with the big boobs moved in with them and the rest, as they say, is history. Since my college roommate's girlfriend used to be roommates with my old girlfriend from years prior and I introduced them, we all managed to introduce each other to our respective spouses through a
  11. 2 More Georgia Tech Students Robbed at Gunpoint It happened at about 7:05 p.m. near North Avenue and Spring Street. Police said the two students were walking when a vehicle approached them. Investigators said one passenger got out, displayed a black revolver and took students’ wallets. Police said one student was injured during the incident.
  12. Amazing. Ridge Rd./Hwy 61 is not scheduled for attention until at least 2014. It is project O-44, third from the last project on the list. Paulding County Intersection Improvement Projects
  13. After watching part of the Texas game, I retract this statement. I still think that Tebow isn't all that and a bag of chips either. Maybe after Saturday's great play Ingram's stock just went up.
  14. I was agreeing with you're disclaimer, and commiserating with Dis, but carry on. And please tell us why there isn't that signal at Hwy 61 and Ridge Road.
  15. I'm not against walk signals when the lights are replaced in areas where sidewalks are either present or scheduled to be added, or where there is a reasonable expectation of common pedestrian traffic. I am against replacing lights and adding walk signals when the whole thing is going to be torn down in two years or less. That's ridiculous. "That's the way it's done" is not an excuse. BTW, I am all for the ADA, it's my livelihood. I'm also not against common sense.
  16. OK, explain this one to me. They are putting new traffic lights with walk signals all down Hwy 92 south of 278. There are no sidewalks, and there is no pedestrian traffic. Not only that, the entire stretch of highway south of Hiram is scheduled for complete widening within the next couple of years. So the state is spending hundreds of thousands of your dollars on something we don't need and that will be demolished before the bulbs need to be replaced. Your tax dollars at work waste.
  17. I very much agree with GEAGirl <gasp>. There is a huge difference between pollution and AGW. First and foremost, the science is sound on pollution. You dump enough chicken poop in one place, particularly near a water source, and you poison the environment. Same with tailing ponds. Same with sulphur dioxide. Same with phosphates. Same with petrochemicals. Same with land disturbance. You have an action and a provable and repeatable reaction. Simple science. Now on to cost. I disagreed with a lot of what Bush did in reversing long standing rules regarding scrubbers on power pl
  18. Concealed Handgun License Holder. Better?
  19. Shoulda been closed long ago. The personal attacks are beyond the pale. No wonder so many folks want the political stuff to stay out of the public forums.
  20. In 2005 in Texas not one gun related felony was committed by a registered gun owner. I see no problem allowing a fully vetted and registered owner to carry a concealed weapon anywhere with the exception of a courthouse, jail, or anyplace that alcohol is served.
