Gwinett school holds Cash for Gold Fundraiser
brown*eyed*girl replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know our PTA has done this several times and I have no problem with it. It's a Win-Win situation if you ask me. Of course I think it was done after school but I'm not sure. I know more than one time/day was offered. -
Hopefully someone just picked it up and didn't have time to turn it in yet or maybe just thought it belonged to one of the kids they were driving. I know a few weeks ago I noticed a parent had left something at the ball park and I grabbed it knowing I would run into them the next week or so. I certainly hope it is not actually stolen. Sounds like you have a pretty special son.

First, those roses are completely adorable. I LOVE THEM. Wish they were scratch and sniff... Second, I got a negative?... when did that happen and where can I see it? Just curious. Lucky, Good for you guys. I don't think I could do five miles. Not too mention it is just too dang cold in the mornings for me still.

I LOVE reading Lucky's posts and especially like that I have met her so I can kind of picture her when reading her thoughts. Don't know if you are still walking but I enjoyed the few times I was able to join you and Lady Raider.

I remember being told last year one Sunday in church that we (West Ridge) had tried to purchase that property but could not afford it and it was sold and going to be a retirement community. I was so sad when all the trees were cut down behind the church there but the good news is we will be getting another entrance when all is said and done. Of course this was last year and you are right it does seem to be taking FOREVER to get done.

This is really scary. If he does stop because people are are watching or are on to him he'll just find somewhere else to target. I live in New Hope and didn't even know he was in this area last year. I guess I need to spend even more time on P.com .

There is an area for Yard Sales under Commerce.

I think (hope) they are being sarcastic. We also have three kids are trying to pay off debt and I wouldn't think of taking a week long vacation to Disney. We aren't adding to our debt but we still have a bit to pay off that we accumulated when my husbands previous employer had to give him a pay cut to keep him on. He hasn't been paid on time for over 6 months and I'm pretty proud to say we haven't had to use the CC yet and I will do whatever I can to avoid that. In previous years we used any money we got back paying down our debt and/or getting the kids there yearly medical appointments (D

Bash me if you will but I voted for it. Do I think it's "Great"? No not necessarily but I do think it's good for some of us. It seems like each year we are told we don't qualify but sometimes we do get a little more back than we paid in so I'm confused. When we do it has been a HUGE help to us. This year for example we won't get enough federal money back to cover our Georgia state taxes (on income earned in Florida by the way) but we will get some back that will help toward that bill.

lets all remember our "fun" Spring Break years:)

87 and 88 Daytona Beach Florida 89, 90 and 91 South Padre Island, Texas Traveled by bus, car and one time I think we had 11-13 of us in a van. Lucky me it was in my name so I got to drive from Michigan to Texas and was about the only person with leg room. Ended up on crutches on year, one of the guys we hung with one year went "missing" after a trip across the border, was featured on that crime show that was going on back then and was later found (his bones anyway with several others) at some scary cult type place in Mexico~~ so sad. Ended up very briefly in jail one year when I was -
So, just to clarify when you are asking Good or Bad are you asking if we think the Earned Income Tax credit is good or bad or if doing away with it is good or bad?

My four favorites for the night were Tim Urban (I know I"m in the minority here but I LOVED the Reggae feel he gave that song), Sioban, Lee and Crystal. I think there numbers were 7, 8 , 9 and 12.

I've tried some of those wallpaper remover stuff they sell at home depot and honestly the cleanest way I found to remove it was to rip off the top layer and then get a sponge and wet what's left. For the most part it would just peel off. Good Luck!

I felt the same way when I first saw that website too. Although I was surprised to see one of my kid teachers (this was a few years back) was only making @ $28,000, while others where making more than $50,000. I know it's based on education and time in. One of my neighbors retired from teaching about 5 years ago and I think they were making close to $65,000, their spouse also works in the school system and I'd have to check but I think they make about the same. The last time I checked most of the middle school teacher my kids had were making in the 40's. Some I think deserve much more for

I don't feel like a prisoner but I am trapped so to speak. My husband took a job in another state 16 months ago and the housing market is such that we can't afford to sell right not. More than one person has told us we should quit paying and just leave but we just aren't the kind of people to do that just because our present situation isn't convenient. having said that I LOVE it here!

First, I don't think I could afford another fundraiser. I have three kids. One had three fundraisers this year (band, softball and school), another had two (band and school) and the third has had one (art~can you believe the art teacher has a $0 budget) and another coming up. With the exception of art my kids were told they had to sell atleast 10 items. I have two people I can call for fundraiser help, my parents and my sister so I usually feel like I need to buy enough to get the item count up to 10 items each. This doesn't include the class picture and school pictures which I haven't be

I don't know what I would do. I do about half and half now as far as driving my kids to school because I volunteer on a weekly basis and sometime one of them is running late or two of the kids have instruments or someone has a project to take and can't take it on the bus, etc.... There are also those weeks when hubby's check is "late" and I tell the kids I can't afford to spend the gas to drive them in. Actually I would have to pay for 3 kids so if it came out cheaper to drive them in that is what I would have to do. Depending on how you charge (per trip, per day, per child, etc...) i

I voted yes figuratively speaking. I'm guessing the PT is the NO vote . Of course I would never want to shoot someone but a BB gun, something harmless maybe.

If you go to the school website the name is listed. I haven't read the whole letter yet but on the bottom left there is a letter that starts "It is with great sadness....." and it is dated today.

Half empty buses~~ I wish, I drive my kids in as often as I can because they tell me that even at 3 kids (middle school) to a seat there are times when there is still not enough room. Their bus driver is nice but I know they don't really like the kids to bring their band instruments on the bus which one of my children is required to bring home every day since they are in honor band. I know not all buses are this way but I don't think the county deliberately runs buses half empty. Back on topic I too read that same article this weekend and wondered where Paulding stood.

My 6th and 7th grader are both welcome to bring books home from school but there is not enough for every student to do this. ALL the books are available to be read online by those who have a computer. When my 7th grader was in the 4th grade I looked into purchasing a copy of each book and they were extremely expensive. Some cost over $100 (for just one). She was going through a phase where she was so stressed about forgetting to bring a book home I thought it might be easier to just have a copy at home. Needless to say I didn't purchase them. Her 5th grade teacher let us keep a copy o

I was thinking about seeing Remember Me and my daughter wants to see it as well. It is nice to hear a good review. Maybe one day this week we can hit a matinee since the kids get out a little early

I too was surprised about Lilly and worried about Crystal. I thought that either Crystal was sick or she was thinking what am I doing here. I can see her just not being comfortable with the whole thing. What people to Todrick screw and how? Never heard about that. I was glad Lee made it in the top twelve. I thought him Casey, Crystal and Lilly were no question going to make it but you never know.

I hear ya! My husband has been working over 600 miles away for 16 months now. I knew it would take a while to sell our house but we can't even put it on the market in this economy knowing we can't even ask what we need/owe on it. Very sad. We went to visit him last month but it will probably be atleast another month if not two or three until we get to see him again. Where he is at is the busy season so he won't be able to come up here until May or later. However, I will say I LOVE our neighborhood! I wish I could take it with me when/if we do move.

Yes, 18 years this August! I definitely hasn't been easy but well worth it.
