  1. Easy voting this week. And for the record, this Raider family was pulling for North last week. Nothing against South just have a lot of friends at North and wanted to even things out a bit
  2. Voted. Looks like you all are in the lead. Best of luck!
  3. I did find this online: www.atlantahabitat.org/restore. I haven't looked it over yet and am not sure on the location. My sister was telling me they went to find a door they they were going to use to make a desk for my nephew but ended up finding an really cool piece of wood for $5 that they used instead. If you go please post your thoughts on the place. Or if anyone else has gone before I'd love to know how good the deals are.
  4. I watched it but it wasn't a show I "had" to see each week. I do like Grey's. Somehow my daughter got hooked on it in the past year and went back and watched it from beginning to end. Well not end since it is still on but you know what I mean. She has a friend who just started a couple of weeks ago and will text her updates about Burke and she will just laugh at how much he has yet to see. She did the same thing with Friends when they started playing it on Nick at Night.
  5. Took this picture at a Walmart in Cartersville a couple years ago.
  6. I'm glad to see this thread. I was actually talking to my sister last night who lives in Greer, SC and she was telling me they have a Habitat for Humanity store in her area that sells the stuff they pull out of the houses that they redo and I thought there must be a place like that around here. If there is I bet it would be a great place to get some stuff for your house. I myself need some things and planned on doing some googling and asking on here if anyone new of such a store in the Atlanta area.
  7. I love that you post this every week and wondered if it would be too much to ask if you could put each teams record on here? Or is there a place to see the scores from each game this season without doing a search for each weeks thread? Just thinking I need to put a little more thought into my votes this week especially the North-South game .
  8. East Paulding? That's funny. When we first moved here in 2001 my neighbor introduced himself as a bit of a redneck. I think everyone should be proud of where they live. I will say when my kids started at EPHS we were told that it was the "ghetto" school and the North was the better one. Two of my kids seem to have bought into this thinking despite their friends who have moved on to North who think their school is just okay. Some of them even would like to go to East. I guess for some the grass is always gonna be greener on the other side. Through this board I have heard great things abo
  9. I was in the bleachers at East watching the end of a twelve hour band practice when the kids all pointed to something. When I looked up it looked like someone had lit off a firework. Pretty cool that it was not your everyday firerwork.
  10. I'll have to get out my daughters report from when she took the SAT in 7th grade. I don't remember her score but I do remember that in English she scored higher than 75-80% of college bound seniors (I thank Mrs. Pate at Moses for that) and she received a medal through the DUKE T.I.P program. We were also told her score was high enough to get into Auburn at the time. I am anxious to see how she does on it now that she is a junior. Not sure when she will take it next but my I plan on having my 7th grader take it this year. Hopefully they don't include those numbers in our average.
  11. No, I wouldn't want a cashier with a bloody finger. But to be honest you just sound mean. Maybe I am wrong but I am picturing a young teenager at her first job nervous about what to do and doing the best she could. Everyone makes mistakes and I would hate for one of my kids to encounter someone someone like you the first time they make a mistake at work and would much rather they encounter someone like the manager who understands that everyone is not perfect and would explain it to them in private. Not everyone knows the exact thing to do in the heat of a moment or when dealing with somethi
  12. Yea, I was a bit embarrassed myself when I heard the aforementioned comments. I also didn't like the booing before anyone on field had had a chance to sort things out. People on here from time to time talk about how much worse kids are these days and how much more respectful their parents and grandparents where when they were younger. I don't agree, never have and the behavior of some of the "adults" in the stands just proves the point that every generation has their share of idiots. Great job to the Raiders. It was a fun game to watch and I loved seeing them do so well. I would reall
  13. So excited. Missed the first 30 minutes but so far everyone I have seen have done amazing. I think this is going to be one of the best seasons yet!
  14. EP, NP, PC and SP. For some reason not feeling the same excitement this year as usual. Hopefully East's homecoming this week will get me out of the football rut.
  15. I think it is probably too late to hit any of the "fall" consignment sales. There are usually a limited number of spots and the good ones tend to fill up in a matter of hours. I would recommend Due West Treasure Chest. Another one I liked (and also enjoyed volunteering at) was Twice Blessed at the corner of Macland and Lost Mountain road. I have heard that a lot of people have success with the one at the fairgrounds. I've never sold or shopped there but apparently it is huge. My consigning days are just about over but you are just beginning. It is a great way to clean your clutter out an
  16. Surely it must have been an accident? I can not even imagine.
  17. Apparently East won 10 to 7 against PC. That's a little too close for me. Wish I had been there. Must have been a pretty good game.
  18. I am happy for PC but as a Raider I sure hope we pull further head. Please keep the updates coming!
  19. Regarding the schedule at Moses it is a little different. Your first period is divided up into your two connections classes (for 7th grade anyways) and third period is an academic class as well as lunch and homeroom. It is longer and after thinking about it, it does make some kind of sense to have it a little later in the day. As much as I think the connections my child has should be longer (Spanish and band) it does seem to be working. Only time will tell. I too wasn't sure who you would give a note to but probably would have just sent it in with my student and then e-mailed the homer
  20. If your read the follow up article it says something about the kids being in the foster care system at one point and that some kind of ruling in regards to parents rights vs children's came about as a result of this family. I would be interested to hear more but can understand them not wanting to relive such painful memories.
  21. Heard that East is up 16 - 0 at the half. Thank the good Lord. If any one has any further updates on any of the games I would love to hear them.
