  1. Lived there for 5 years. The Chop House http://www.chicagochophouse.com/ was the best steak and atmosphere I ever had up there. All the others mentioned are good too.
  2. The tip cup at Starbucks is where I draw the line. You simply rang up a $5 coffee. No tip for you!
  3. I can't wait for Southwest planes to start landing in Atlanta. I lived in Nashville, where they had a hub of sorts. No baggage fees, rarely being late and, if you are, you actually get an explanation. Mostly, I just liked that they seemed like they actually enjoyed their customers, unlike Delta, Cont, UAL, name them. Also, not getting soaked with change fees was great. I think it will mean good things for us that fly frequently.
  4. Stink bomb the Delta Airlines counter at Hartsfield.
  5. Law and Order LA and Outsourced were my favorites that got the ax.
  6. What we did for the renters that wanted to do this was, we calculated what percentage of the budget was allocated for the pool. It worked out to about 60% of the budget. We asked them if they would be willing to pay 60% of the dues to cover their house's pool allocation, and they eagerly agreed. Go to them with this already in hand so that they can see that you have done your homework and are more than willing to pay your fair share. If your board is made up of your neighbors and not some absent management company on the other side of town, they will more than likely gladly accept some ext
  7. Stewardesses is the longest word you can correctly type using only one hand.
  8. Have you tried having a conversation with the HOA? If it is community ran, then the board will probably work something out with you to have access to the pool. Our neighborhood had a similar situation where a renter wanted access to the pool, but the owner refused to pay their dues. We needed the money, so we sold that family a pool pass. It was a win / win.
  9. Great place. Best shrimp and hot sausage po-boys north of I-10.
  10. Mountasia in Kennesaw, right off the interstate, has a great track. They also sell armbands that give you all you can ride, plus all the mini golf and bumper boats you can handle in a single day. We love this place. http://www.mountasia.com/site/marietta/
  11. I saw this earlier today and had to research it. Here is the CEO of Boeing's op-ed in today's WSJ: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703730804576315141682547796.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop Pretty scary that the government may have the power to tell companies where they can locate their facilities. This would be devastating to our neighbors in SC.
  12. Shame on Channel 2 for the ridiculous bias they showed in this story. The used strong language for the teacher, but never explored these little tid bits that should have been a large part of the story. 1. This happened at "in school suspension". Why was he there? Is he a problem child and this is just one of many run ins he has had with authority? My guess would be "yes", since he was there as part of a larger punishment to begin with. 2. Did he react this way because the T.A. was a man? We see a mother enabling the child, but no father. 3. Any past problems with this T.A
  13. I love it. Judge, jury and execution all in one stop. A well armed neighborhood is a safe neighborhood.
  14. Agreed, and apologies if it seems that I was saying that these are the only 2 excluded. My point was that insurance companies are breed agnostic, they simply calculate the risks. They have found these pets to be un-insurable. Seems like that should have some merit in the argument for folks who seem to declare that anyone that says anything negative about these breeds are ignorant. I'm a dog lover. I know some folks with great pit bulls. Still would never own one. Not worth the risk to prove a point.
  15. I don't have a proverbial dog in the hunt here, but find it interesting that most home insurance companies restrict owning Pitts and Rotts from their insurance policies (check your State Farm and Allstate policies, it's in there), but not collies, scotties, cocker spaniels, etc. Are they ignorant and influenced by the media reports, or are they performing a risk analysis and find these breeds to not be worth the risk?
  16. I would love to see it come down to Cain vs. Obama. Just from a sociology and a political intrigue point of view, I would love to see if 90% of the African American vote still goes to the Democrat. Not trying to open a can of worms here, I would just find the results there either way fascinating.
  17. Thanks. Any suggestions for anyone that will deliver 2 yards of concrete here in Paulding? I did the math and it works out to well over 100 bags. There has to be a more efficient way to do it than that. I have a guy that will do it, I just need to provide the concrete. If I pay him to mix it by the bag, then this job will cost a lot more than it's worth.
  18. This looks sortof like what I'm looking / hoping for. Any idea the name of the company?
  19. Hi p.commers. I bet someone on here can help me out. I am expanding my patio and need some concrete delivered. It's too much to bring in by the bag, but not a huge amount. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  20. Thanks for posting, and thank you Spc. Gary Lee Nelson III and your family for my freedom and way of life.
  21. Here's a little trick most folks don't know about. I believe it's either $25 of $29 to "upgrade" to a season pass after you are in the park. They don't know how much you paid to get in, they just charge the upgrade. If you use a free ticket to get in, you can "upgrade" to a season pass for about $30. We do this every year. We buy one season pass, then use the free coupons to upgrade the rest of the family (3 total).
  22. The victims that get overlooked in this mess frequently are the folks that bought within their means, and are now left in neighborhoods that are changing socio-economically overnight. When we bought in our neighborhood, it was a neighborhood of families, all pretty much in the same age bracket, with young children that all went to the same school. With over 25% of the homes in the neighborhood going into foreclosure, investors are buying up these houses for half price (sometimes less) and renting them out to whomever shows up with the first month's rent. Many of the homes that once had
  23. Comments like this is what drives so many people away from P.com, and why only the same people post over and over again. Evidently, in order to have an opinion, you must either be on here every day and read every post to make sure it's not redundant, or, before replying, read every archive to make sure that someone is not so inconvenienced as to have to open a thread and read a comment for, God forbid, a 2nd time. Seriously, not all of us are on here every minute of every day reading every post, nor would we want to be.
  24. Our neighborhood HOA has had great experience with these guys: DC Pool Service Powder Springs, GA 30127 PM for contact info. They have handled big things for us (changing out the sand in the pumps, rewiring pool lights) to the small (weekly maintenance, bathroom cleaning). Professional, affordable and easy to work with.
