  1. Sorry...it's Bridge ON the River Kwai. And I forgot about Stalag 17, also with Holden.
  2. How could I forget High Noon? AWESOME movie! Sergeant York (also with Gary Cooper) Born Yesterday (Judy Holliday, William Holden) Bridge Over The River Kwai (Holden) Sabrina (Holden, Bogart, Audrey Hepburn)
  3. Well, I had always had cable, and I had a dim view of satellite (this was nearly eight years ago), never having really looked into it. But I gotta tell you - it is so far superior that I would NEVER go back. EVER. Their customer service has always been GREAT GREAT GREAT to me, too...only had to call them a few times, but I ALWAYS got somebody on the line, and they were ALWAYS courteous and helpful.
  4. Ewwwwwwwwww...those things are uggy (as toddler nephew says). Blech.
  5. Hey, great idea! I took mine to Birdmom's Thrift Store, but anywhere you take them would be great.
  6. I don't believe you will ever look back. I got DirecTV when I moved here because stupid Comcast didn't even know if they were the cable provider (I had only had cable before). So when they couldn't figure it out after a couple of weeks with no end in sight, I went with DirecTV. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better in EVERY WAY. I swear, my cable went out more than DirecTV ever has for me. But back to my little story, when Comcast finally figured out they were my cable provider SIX WEEKS after I moved in and called me to set up installation, I just laughed and laughed. Morons.
  7. I would like to have very nice hardwood floors installed throughout the house and a couple of those little robot thingies to keep them clean all the time.
  8. That. Is. AWESOME. God bless you both for your service to this country (families serve as well, making sacrifices the rest of us have no idea about).
  9. Dude, that is evil. I'd give you a bullet, but I like the idea too much.
  10. My Man Godfrey (Powell, Carole Lombard) You Can't Take It With You (Stewart, Lionel Barrymore) A Face in the Crowd (Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal) The Three Faces of Eve (Joanne Woodward) The "Road to..." movies (Bob Hope, Crosby) Little Women (June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor) Desk Set (Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn) Also not a particular fan of Tracy or Hepburn, but I do like several of their movies.
  11. Bogart often played with the same actors (Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre among them). Not a big fan of Jimmy Stewart or Bing Crosby, although I like a couple of their movies. Not a particular fan, either, of James Cagney or Judy Garland. I like Bette Davis pretty well. More movies: White Christmas (Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen) Support Your Local Sheriff (James Garner, Jack Elam) Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten) The Farmer's Daughter (Loretta Young, Cotten) How to Marry a Millionaire (Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable) Gentlemen Prefer Blo
  12. Oh, dear...this may take awhile. In no particular order: Casablanca (Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains) To Have and Have Not (Bogart, Lauren Bacall [their first movie together], Walter Brennan) A Night at the Opera (Marx Brothers) A Christmas in Connecticut (Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan) Rear Window (directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly) North by Northwest (Hitchcock dir, Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint) An Affair to Remember (Grant, Deborah Kerr) The 39 Steps (Hitchcock dir) The Big Sleep (Bogart, Bacall) The Maltese Falcon (Bogart, Mary Astor) Th
  13. I don't think you want me to answer that. Seein' as how turnin' the air blue wouldn't be very nice and all.
  14. Are you talking about engineered hardwood here? I've never heard the term "laminate hardwood". If engineered hardwood is different from laminate hardwood, I'd like your opinion of that as well. Me, I prefer hardwood, period.
  15. Dude...that is sad. Great director. I shall forever be grateful to him for "Empire".
  16. I hereby clarify "bad situation" as meaning a situation where I'm in dire trouble and in need of help to survive.
  17. This is sorta like the IRS takin' your stuff if they say you owe money even though you really don't. Problem is, once you prove you don't, they done got rid of all your stuff. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...
  18. Oh, man...that does indeed suck swamp water. One of my ALL-TIME favorites!!! And I had no idea he was 84...what a great guy.
  19. No, it don't...it starts with a T for TUNNELS, you dope.
  20. Oh, duh...I forgot about Hiram.
  21. Oh, snap! You go, girl. RE: former member - was it a candidate for Paulding commissioner? We only have two libraries, which is soon to be three (one under construction off of Cedarcrest). If they closed "some", they'd get them all. This is rather like the budget-cutting for the elections...much was made about combining precincts to save money...how much actual money could be saved by not putting in additional machines at the combined polling places? $20? $100? Really? That's just dumb and stupid. But yet, they can approve the concept of a $10 million road to nowhere. So closing
