  1. My neighborhood backs up to part of Bentwater, and I can assure you there were sirens at the time the OP stated. Sounded like sirens from 4-5 vehicles to me, and after a short period (10-15 minutes) two sirens departed, making me think they were perhaps ambulances. I did not hear a helicopter. However, my neighborhood also adjoins Cobb County (entrance is off 92), and it sounded to me as if that's the direction the sirens were (this would be opposite the direction of Bentwater from me). At any rate, I can confirm there were sirens.
  2. Warning: Your IQ just dropped by 20 points. Just sayin'...
  3. Ooh...that first one is tres thought-provoking.
  4. These will be cheaper than the others listed, but my quibble with them is that the ocean views aren't great from most of the units. They're also older. Which if they're still kept up wouldn't be a problem for me; I haven't stayed there in a number of years. And the ocean view part is ok, as long as you know that going in.
  5. My thoughts exactly. "Gotta run, hon! The wife's waitin' for me. See ya!" :screechesoff:
  6. Yeah, I'd like to know this, too. Don't want to accidentally wear my hair this way. Dude. That seriously sucks.
  7. I don't plan on ever giving somebody an occasion to say I'm like (the terribly unfunny) Ron White.
  8. It's pretty interesting...just a little place, but the water is SO pure and SO cold! I've been back there before when we were kids, but caves freak me out, so I didn't go as far back into it as some others.
  9. That is hilarious that she bought you one. hahahahahahahahaa What a character! You'll love this story. I don't normally freak out over such, but I have thought about it before. Anyhoo, there was this one time (said in Cartman voice) I was taking the hardhat Dam Tour at Hoover Dam. (FASCINATING - if you ever get the chance to take it, DO!!! Worth every penny.) We had wandered all over, and the guide then took us up several floors into the face of the dam, and there are these louvres to let air in to circulate. He was telling us that the one where we were was the one that Chevy
  10. Good heavens. I had forgotten all about that! Sheesh. RE: the DC snipers - what I loved about that was how insanely WRONG the investigation was (and media coverage, natch). And I loved that a trucker spotted them.
  11. And you should be afraid of him, my friend...you should be afraid of him. :noddinghead: Add me to the clown list. And ice cream truck men. Not really scared of snakes or spiders or rodents. Now that you have rid yourself of that hideous avatar, I can acknowledge you again. RE: fear of forklifts - this sounds like a really good topic for a psychiatrist. Let me know what he says.
  12. I've heard of people unlawfully using other people's property, but this is a first. Ye gods.
  13. You are correct, ma'am. We went to the one in Hiram in the summer when we were shopping for fire pits. Just a sad, limited store. (We bought a fantastic fire pit from amazon.) YEARS ago (as in a couple of decades), I was shopping in one in another town and had security called on me for picking up a pair of gardening gloves to look at. They didn't say anything to me, but it was clear since I was the only person there that I was who they were watching after the call went out. I left without buying anything. And that particular store has had MONDO crap like that go on for simply years.
  14. I must confess that I lusted in my heart as I was reading your list.
  15. Ah, the smell of economic recovery (not to mention hope and change) in the morning.
  16. Honey. If I had done something worth being arrested over, I'd RATHER the popo got to me first. Geez...facing my parents after something like that would truly have been a fate worse than death.
  17. I give either to local stuff where I KNOW where it's going (i.e., my church whom I trust, a co-worker with a need I happened to know about and gave anonymously, etc.), or Salvation's Army or Samaritan's Purse. They both consistently put 94-96% of their monies back into the charity (best in the business). I do believe St. Jude would use the money honorably as well.
  18. Seriously? Wow. I'm not disallowing your feelings, and I'm not even saying you haven't experienced things to back them up. But limiting churches (or anything else that isn't a harm to society) goes against my libertarian leanings. Obviously there is a demand for most of the churches out there because they get enough donations to keep operating. Just like McDonald's...doesn't matter if I don't want to stop at one, or don't really see the need for one on every corner...if they can make a profit, fine by me.
  19. Gotta go with zoo here. It ain't fittin'...it just ain't fittin' (in the words of Mammy in "Gone with the Wind"). There is NEVER any excuse to comment in a derogatory manner about someone's appearance, I don't care who that person is. Rude and boorish, indeed.
  20. Go for it. Let us know what they say.
  21. I should think good manners would dictate that such a comment would always be rude. Also inadvisable for a politician, but mainly just rude. For anybody to say about anybody else.
