  1. DH said there was a single car that ran off the road, hit a tree and flipped. The driver was partially ejected causing the Fire Dept to have to be very cautious and careful with the partially entrapped driver. The driver was removed safely and taken to the hospital. The Fire Dept had their hands full on that call....Glad there were no fatalities- especially on Christmas Day.
  2. Paulding Pregnancy Services has a clothes closet for in need moms entering or re-entering the workforce. They would put your donations to good use! Located in Hiram off Lake Rd. 770-222-6911 and try the senior center for the quilt frames- I've seen some beautiful quilts on display up there made by local ladies!
  3. Completely agree- my husband is a firefighter & works 24's but I'm an accountant & commutebattle my way to Kennesaw & back home each day. I dislike leaving in the dark & coming home in th edark- makes me really feel like all I did was work ALL day. At least in the summer its still ight out & we can go outside after 6pm The extra hour of sleep on Sunday is nice though. The payback in the spring when that hour gets taken away is no fun. I wish they'd pick a time & leave it alone!
  4. And so begins the season of leaving for work in the dark & coming home in the dark. I do not like it when Daylight Savings time ends.
  5. Our ALABAMA (Birmingham)office is hiring! Contour Engineering is hiring a Field Engineering Technician. Position requires the ability to interpret or work from drawings, specifications, diagra
  6. Our lets you buy a card for $20 thats for 25 things- jumpies, games, etc. Food is cash only. The fall Festival is usually the PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year- yes, there is a cost for everything but its usually minimal.
  7. R.I.P Perry! Prayers for the Nash family. I will always picture you riding circles around your house on the dirtbike. Karen, please let your friends know how they can support you during this time. My heart goes out to you & your boys, you will be continually in our prayers. Love ya! ~ Neighbors from CC
  8. We'll be looking into some of the places referred to here. We are currently with Dr Lisa West & have had to deal with her insurance "scam" as well. I pay the "estimated" cost up front & then get hit with a $200+ bill after services are complete- they say- "Your insurance paid less than we expected" every time. Spoke with Guardian (the insurance) and confirmed the amounts they gave to the dentist that they would pay. Dr. West's office has not been honest with us.
  9. Mother of four, haven't killed one yet! No need for the google school of medicine. This was his second time with strep, ever. If there were any other symptoms present with my child I would have assented to the additional testing. But a urine sample for allergies- that's ridiculous & I don't need Google School of Medicine to tell me that! It seems lately when I take any of my four children, my husband or myself to the Dr for a routine visit or a sick visit- they ALWAYS want to do a lab of some sort. Doesn't matter if it'd been 6 weeks or 6 months since they'd last been seen. I get th
  10. 5 year old has a fever & sore throat. Quick strep comes back negative, Dr thinks its allergy related. Writes a prescription for a nose spray & then says she needs a urine sample? Pardon? He was in 3 months ago with strep & didn't need a urine sample- what ever would you need it for? "To check kidney function" is the reply. No wonder our health care costs sky rocket when Dr's are requesting unncessary lab tests to "check" for things when its really just more $$$$ they're after. The quick strep will cost me $25, I can deal with that. The urinalysis is $65 (on top of my $
  11. My problem lately is going to the retail store only to find that they're out of stock on the item I want to purchase & then being told to order on line & have it shipped to my house (jeans at Kohl's, computer at BestBuy, etc.). If I wanted to wait 3-5+ days for it, I wouldn't have come to the store in the first place! I almost all of my Christmas shopping online. Any shipping fees beat the chaos of shopping in the stores during that time!
  12. Came across 3 openings on the www.paulding.gov website today. Thought of a couple of PCommers when I saw them- 2 are for degreed/ Engineer positions. There other is a listing for the new firefighter recruit applicant roster listing. Good luck!
  13. Not asking for parenting advice, just curious how others view this topic. . . .
  14. On the way home yesterday, I used Save A Lot across from Big Lots in Dallas- it was $3.65. Gas at the next corner was $3.94 Will someone who KNOWS how gas is priced chime in here? It's not Obama's fault that the stations raised the price $0.20+ yesterday- how can gas prices vary so much in the same area?
  15. There was a head on accident involving two vehicles and then one of them side-swiped the bus. I don't have details on injuries, however, WSB reported that one lady had to be extricated due to a leg injury and that none of the students were injured.
  16. Its PCHS that I was told to bring it to. Planning to drop it off Wed am & have it back by the end of the week? Its a pretty decent repair that was going to run $350+ elsewhere. The part I have to provide is $10.99
  17. Looking for opinions from those who have utilized a high school auto shop. A teacher friend suggested we bring an older truck that needs a seal replaced to the high school- the automotive teacher is a ASE mechanic & supervises the students- I provide all parts/fluids. Anyone used this program before? I hear they do brakes, rotors, oil changes, tune ups, repairs, etc. . . .
  18. 1) Going to a "mandatory" parent meeting- only to have the person leading the meeting read the entire hand out to me. I can read. If you have nothing to add, give me the had out & let me leave, please! 2) I've recently begun commuting again- from S Paulding to Kennesaw. I HATE traffic. People are rude. Is it really so hard to pull up just a bit closer to the car in front of you so those of us behind you can get in the turn lane you are blocking by 8 inches and are 3 car lengths from the car in front of you? 3) When someone leaves the microwave with time left to cook on it instea
  19. I would try a signed copy of their lease. Best bet is to wait until tomorrow morning and call DDS, I've been wrong a time or two.
  20. And his account records, or did this trojan purchase the kiddie porn for him? Artwork for a class? Yuck! There is NO excuse for having life size pictures of naked 7 year olds hidden in the closet. None.
  21. PM me and I'll personally bail you out if you were! I'd hope common sense would prevail and you'd receive a medal, nt cuffs!
  22. It is possible that this was an accident. Being called to a lock-in is quite common. A perfect combination of events, a button pushed by accident. It happens. When personnel arrive on scene, the parent is usually frantic &the the child is oblivious to the problem. Not every lock-in is an idiotic stupid parent.
  23. My husband worked that scene- its a bit off Rosadale- long driveway & can't see it from the road. It was a house.
  24. How far over the speed limit was she? I think that would be a bigger factor than age when determining the fine/ punishment. I do agree though, probation for a speeding ticket, regardless of speed, seems ludicrous. A driving course & fine would be fair.
  25. Warehouse of Hope. Their food & clothing minsitries support our local community. www.warehouseofhope.org or 100 Hunter Rd in Douglasville, off Hwy 92.
