I just had another customer's computer that was damaged by lightning. Luckily the hard drive was not damaged and I am retrieving all of their pictures an other important files but the motherboard is fried and not worth replacing. To protect your computer and your files you need to do two things: 1. Make sure you have a backup. At a minimum you need to be backing up your important files to an external drive or some other type of removable media. I do this plus I have an offsite backup service protects your files from theft, fire, tornado or other catastrophe. I use Carbonite for this. It al

The Church was purchased by the the state in order to widen 92. The congregation built a new building and relocated several miles down the road.

Blockbuster failed to adapt to changing technology and allowed Netflix to become the dominate player in the video business. Based on their brand alone, they should have had this market sewed up. This is a perfect example of what happens to a company that rests on their laurels. Reader's Digest is facing the same problems that is common to all print media.

Any recommendations for wireless printer

Per the info found at HP's website, it does not have USB. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpu60002&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=59272#N1058 -

You printer may not have a USB port. Search for the specs on google or post the model number here and I will check. -
That would seem like a more concise description smarty pants.

About the only time I look at a paper is if it is free in a hotel or restaurant. We do buy a Sunday paper for the coupons, but the rest of the paper is trashed almost immediately unless it is need for the birdcage. In the long term, I'm not sure that any printed material is viable except in a very few cases. Eventually (probably not in my lifetime), I think the printed will be replaced with the electronic. As for the newspapers, getting today's new tomorrow is no longer acceptable. I think their only hope is to develop a product that has more in-depth stories that is not so much time sensitive

Great question! You should never run ActiveX on a site that you are not absolutely sure is safe. The problem is knowing who to trust. Obviously you should trust Microsoft which requires ActiveX for such things as updating Windows manually through Internet Explorer. I never trust a site that does not have a CEO that I would trust in a hotel room with my wife or daughter. (A little bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea).

Thanks for sharing those quotes.

Yep, I heard that Canada has a 4th as well. One of the things that makes be sad about our patriotic holidays is that so many people view it as just another day off work. I have a conversation with my kids every Memorial Day, Veterans Day and 4th of July to get them thinking about the significance of those holidays. We must never forget why we are free, nor should we forget those that have served to preserve our freedom. I never served in the Military, but I am extremely thankful for those that have.

You must be in better shape than me. I was thinking I would have needed to start last Thursday. In fact, I'm getting tired even thinking about it. -

Any recommendations for wireless printer
afriendlygeek replied to Squareroots's topic in Business NEWS
I have never owned a portable printer, so I'm not sure I can help much. I would say go with one of the brands I mentioned in the previous post. Also, I think having the wireless feature could get pretty spendy. You could always carry a USB cable with you to connect it. -

If the officejet is attached to another computer on your network you can use it. Do a google search for instructions based on your operating systems (XP, Vista, etc.). If the printer is not attached to another computer, it would be best just to buy a wireless printer. I do not have a specific model recommendation but my favorite brands are Canon, Epson and HP. Look at the reviews on Amazon for specific models. If you do not need color, I would recommend a laser printer. -
It was a pleasure helping you. As for your paranoia, I had rather see someone err on the side of caution instead of having a total carefree attitude. The person that trusts every email and website, and does not seek to learn a little bit about safe computing practices will be infected time and time again. I'm so glad that we were able to get it running normally once again and save all of your daughters precious files. I was especially happy that I was able to reinstall Office without you having to shell out big bucks for another copy. Y'all are so kind. Thank you
