I don't necessarily view the demise of the spinning platters hard drive as a bad thing, but I'm against online storage. After all, we did well with the transition from floppies to hard drives. Since the computer will still need to boot there will be a storage need and at this time the answer is flash memory. Flash is not subject to mechanical wear since there are no moving parts which is a good thing. Flash memory should be more reliable and runs much faster than a hard drive. A very good observation. The internet is by far the most common threat. However any pathway that allows data to enter a computer is a threat. I had a client this summer that had five flash drives infected. I discovered this when I plugged the first one into my computer and it attempted to infect me.

Thanks. This is one of the most frustrating parts for anyone that need help with a computer or any other product for that matter. I love it when they have a very heavy accent and then tell me that their name is Bob or Mary. I been tempted to ask them their real name just so I could see if I could pronounce it. The other annoying part is most of them are simply reading from a book and they choose the particular troubleshooting chart based on the reported problem.
