The issue has always been, to me, the "prompt service" that you state is important to you. I live in the NE portion of the county and prompt has never been used in the same sentence when requesting an ambulance. Only based on my own, personal experiences as well as backed up with response data provided by the state. It will be my hope that the new service reallocates resources to provide better service for my area and decrease overall response times for the entire county.

I simply teach my scouts that you should only be in the woods with someone that you are faster than in the case that you run into an angry bear.... But, seriously, in the thousands of miles of hiking in my life time I have run into 8-10 bears. The majority of them are hauling-ass away from me. Only once, in the Shenandoah National Park, did I find myself in between a mom and two cubs. Of course, I was the one hauling-ass in that situation.

One thing to consider for a firearm is if you can even get ammo for it. I have had a very hard time finding 9x18 Makarov and 7.62x25 Tokarev. Pretty makes my guns useless - I guess that was the Fed's plan all along.

I would suggest the news media asked to come do a story. With our scout trailer theft, the local news channels monitor Cobb police reports and they requested interviews with our scouts. That brought on several gracious people that helped out our scout troop financially as well as with equipment donations. I am sure if the word got out there a local business that has equipment would make a donation.

no on the scout trailer- Cobb PD stated the trailer probably ended up in Alabama due to their lack of registration requirements and the $5000+ worth of gear dumped in a land fill. Apparently the enclosed trailers are popular with construction crews.

back in may our scout equipment trailer was stolen - from a church parking lot. It is amazing what people will steal. I hope someone comes through for the school.

I think I have been around since May of 2004. I've mostly enjoyed learning more of county news. Living in the north end of the county we are more a part of Acworth than Dallas/Hiram. Learning news about Paulding made me feel more a part of the county. Probably my best memories were learning of SO/FD activities and trying to keep up with the posts in the scanner forum. The bus accident where Mrs. Wright lost her life, a suicide just down the road, Emory flight landing for rescue for a serious MVA. All gave me a better appricieation for law enforcement and our EMS workers. I do recall

Clark owns the Zone EMS service contract for Paulding which is issued from the state. They can meet their obligations with 1 truck and one crew. There is a budget line item of $250K in the county's FY2104 budget and I believe the county still pays for all their fuel costs. Last year they received $225K. While they have made improvements in coverage by bringing on additional staff , brought on newer equipment, etc. I still don't feel that they cover the north end of the county adequately enough. One would think that there will be economies of scale that management of a larger company
