  1. WOW - it seems like your sister has done a wonderful job raising your nephew. That was very mature of him to think about a Will and Last Testament at his age and very thoughtful of him to write his Mom a letter and leave it for her like that. Prayers for your nephew, your sister and you as well. Please tell him THANK YOU for us!
  2. You crack me up I just love your posts!!!!
  3. My family experienced a number of heartaches this year - we lost our dog of 12yrs in January, I lost my job in March, my Mom in July, a distant cousin in July, a good friend in September, another good friend in November and my aunt in November. But we were blessed with our first grandson in February after my daughter was told that she most likely would never conceive without extensive fertility drugs and my husband still has his job and things are better for him now than they have been in the past 2 years. So, we too have many things to be thankful for.
  4. When I was a teenager, I always removed my make-up at night with Noxema skin cream. When my son was born, I received a bottle of Oil of Olay skin cream in my goody bag from the hospital and have used it ever since. I drink lots and lots of water and not really much of anything else, including alcohol. I was told by a friend of my son's the other day that I looked like I was 34, which is much younger than my true age. So, I believe: 1) always remove your make-up before bed 2) drink lots of water - not just for your complexion but your overall health 3) stay away from drugs, excessive
  5. Paulding defended their developers? Hmmm - LOL
  6. My daughter also has several tattoos and piercings and usually a different hair color too. My son has several tattoos and has had his ear pierced before. But I am with you - I just don't get the huge hole thing. It just looks gross to me! I did learn something new the other night. I do not watch a lot of TV but DH was channel surfing and stopped on one of those Intervention type shows that happened to be on a guy who was an alcoholic, trying to stick with the AA program and at the same time refrain from adding more tattoos to his mostly multi-colored body. I didn't understand what th
  7. We aren't Catholic but I was wondering if any churches would be having a late/midnight service.
  8. Lady Raider, thank you for a wonderful poem and again for all your words of kindness and support! You truly are an Angel to those of us on pcom. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas! Blondie, I am so sorry for all your losses. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas too!
  9. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You definitely deserve it! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
  10. Absolutely not! First, just like LGM, I would not want to saddle my kids with my personal debt for frivolous material things. Secondly, I would prefer to teach my children good financial management (think Dave Ramsey or Mary Hunt).
  11. GOOOOD MORNNNNNING EVERYONE!!!!!!
  12. OMG - you know, you hear about it on the news almost every day in some part of Atlanta but it is still surprising and scary when it happens in our own neighborhood. My DD works at a retail store and I worry about her every day.
  13. My daughter craved dirt when she was pregnant. She talked to her midwife about it and was told that it is common - along with soap and a variety of other strange things that I can't seem to remember right now.
  14. Sorry - small hijack - have you found that you save money by making your own laundry/dish soap or do you do it because you enjoy it, etc? Just curious. We are a household of 5 and I am always trying to save money anywhere that I can.
  15. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I have heard that as soon as you quit smoking you immediately begin repairing your lungs and can actually add days to your life.
  16. My Grandson wears Huggies size 3 and we buy a box of 250+ for $37.88 at Sam's - that usually lasts him 6-8 weeks.
  17. The entire time my DD was pregnant I told her and the SIL that I would quit my job and stay home to babysit if they would pay me the same salary that I was making - LOL. They just laughed at me. Then the DGS was born in Feb and I lost my job in March and have been a SAHGM ever since and wouldn't change a thing. I stayed home with my two children when they were young and love staying home with the DGS just as much!
  18. Losing a child has to be the most difficult thing a person can endure. Prayers of peace and comfort to the parents and extended family during this difficult time.
  19. I am so glad her passing was peaceful and that she is now with her loved ones. Prayers of peace and comfort for BB and her family. And for you LR for being such a wonderful friend to this family as well as all of the others that you have helped!
  20. I wondered the same thing! Hospice told us that sometimes you never know what or who they are waiting on. LR - when I woke up this morning I was thinking about BB's family and remembered a friend of mine. Her husband was a detective and a cop for many, many years before that. But aside from that he was just a really good-hearted person. He was always helping others and my friend always told him that the gates of heaven opened a little wider for him each time. He passed away in September of a massive heart attack at the age of 58 and we talked about the gates being opened wide for him
  21. Oh my gosh - that is the truth! I wish I could have skipped the whole "kid" thing and gone right to the grandchildren!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
