  1. Because, it is expected to be common sense material. Basic things that you should have learned all throughout school. Granted some of it was not taught to me in high school, but I certainly heard some in middle school, but it was by choice that I did not hear some in high school. I chose certain classes that I knew would not help me on the test. Kids can ask what kind of stuff is on it ahead of time, can take practice tests to see what things are on it, and then can shape their high school 'careers' around it to ensure a pass, but instead of taking extra academic classes kids are now in weight
  2. I believe that it should be done on a case by case matter. Yes, there ARE kids who try their best and yes the tests do seem too general, but there are several that do not try at all. Those who christmas tree it cuz "they dont feel like it". I'm not aiming my feelings at all, but I dont think it would be fair for everyone to get to walk just because the kids who tried fought for them. The ones who didnt show that they tried do not deserve to walk. I do feel that there have been several times when the retakes could have been done though. They give us SEVERAL chances and offer so much tutoring a
  3. heyyyyy I forgot video games in my rant. BUT I commend you. =D It's not like the warning signs werent there. If you didnt know there was a problem with the tests or your child was having a hard time, they were hiding it from you and now THEY are upset because THE BOARD wont let them walk.. No, dont get upset with the board, sit your kid down tell them they messed up and that you will support them while THEY do their work and THEY study to finish high school. I'm sure my views will change as Anna gets older, but as a Senior graduating with honors at the end of this month, th
  4. It's really quite simple. No one is doing anything about it. No one seems to care. Everyone waits till the last second to say "hey... I messed up and now graduation is a month away" Tutoring is offered year long. If it's not your strongest subject, go. (Not to bash on sports, but they kill a lot of study time.......) Football is why kids go to school.. soccer.. cheerleading.. band.. Not math, science, social studies. . . . . . . No one cares about the basics now that they realized you can have a career doing the extracurriculars. But of those few who actually make it doing th
  5. I can tell you from being there first hand. This is MY graduating class.. My peers.. and me. I did pass, but this in no way excludes me from the fact that we are lazy as hell! We are not pushed to do well and therefore with policies like recovery and taking away the tests that are forcing us to learn, we are told it is okay to do bad. Our reliance on technology will not be the problem, but rather our mental ability and plain knowledge will. If the internet on our cell phones cant find it fast enough, or chacha doesnt know the answer, we are screwed. It's a sad thing to face, knowing
  6. From the mouth of a student, I do wholeheartedly agree. What good does it do to tell someone "it's okay, here, do it again with no consequences"? I am appalled that kids who dont even try are graduating alongside me. It's harsh but I stand by it. I was not trying to make fun of anyone. I was talking of those who sit around and dont even try.My younger brother has autism and I udnerstand that not everyone learns the same, but I do know that SEVERAL of them are not trying to do any better. I had a few teachers tell me that we should try our bests, but dont worry, you can retake it any
  7. We have SEVERAL times to take it starting sophmore year. If I'm not mistaken you can take it anytime as you as you pay. I just dont remember whre I heard about that. I do agree that you should have to pass the graduation test to graduate. Worked hard for 4 years for nothing.. no. There are students who sit in the "easy" classes for 4 years.. not really doing much of nothing, just passing the class.. and still graduating. I can understand the honor graduate thing, but still.. And cant she walk next year if she just stays another full year? She'd still be an honor graduate if she keeps up t
  8. I pull out there all the time.. People get impatient and just jump at the first tiny break they get... It's a bad turn and a small bridge... Terrible combinations. I've been close to being in an accident several times there (parents live off Winndale) but have been lucky.. I have seen SEVERAL very severe accidents there in the past years.
  9. Why would you pay over $100 for a doll first off...
  10. nevermind she got the help i was trying to get for her
  11. If they cant spell, it makes me think they cant read the wash your hands sign and the other IMPORTANT sanitary information signs...... Granted half of paulding (especially high school students) have EXTREMELY bad spelling. I cant spell words a lot of times myself. It just stopped being stressed in school. My teachers stopped counting off for grammatical errors due to the multitude of them in every paper. I do agree it was probably deliberate, but still... common sense. Maybe 1 or two mispellings, but the whole sign? That's just dumb.
  12. The Mc-Chevron ALWAYS has mispellings... You'd think someone with half a brain would realize it but they dont.. or maybe its a publicity thing... idk... It's quite sad though.. I think I told them once and the girl I told seemed confused. Maybe she was the one to put them up
  13. How odd. Those sirens almost never go off except for testing and its not a test.day nor time
  14. Siren started then wind... Siren stopped and rain lightning and thunder start. Odd anyone else hear it? Sounded like a few trees fell over here now its fairly calm out... 20 min storm
