  1. That reminds me of the story of the counterfeiters that screwed up and ended up with a huge pile of $18 bills. They thought about it for a while, then decided to head out into the country to exchange them figuring them country folk wouldn't know the difference. After driving a while, they found an old country store and got out and went inside. After looking a while, one of them went over to the owner and casually asked, "Hey there, can you give me change for an $18?" The owner said "Sure!! You want 2 $9s or 3 $6s? "
  2. I figured it would go political sooner or later so put it here. Maybe I should have started it there. Maybe the Mods can change it if they think it's more general interest.
  3. Looked at the local ballot on the Ga Sec of State site for the May election and found a SPLOST extension is on it: So in the interest of Public service I present: SPLOST Fun Facts!! : Six Year extension of current Public Projects SPLOST Note: Three current SPLOST active - Educational, Property Tax Relief, and Public Project) Split between: Paulding County - 87% City of Dallas - 7% City of Hiram - 6% For Paulding County portion: Public Safety - 22.8% (Approx $25 million) Fire/Sheriff/E911/Marshal equipment PDOT - 55.3% (Approx $60 million) Maintenance o
  4. Very sad. This was the reason I sold every revolver I had when my first was born. My automatics were kept on an empty chamber. Until the child is much older they don't have the strength to force an automatic to cycle by hand. (They were also kept on the top closet shelf away from little hands) I can get to it plenty fast yet much safer. By they time they might could get to it and have the strength to cycle it, I had made sure they understood to stay away from it if I wasn't there to be with them.
  5. I was told they were shooting some of "Guardian's of the Galaxy 2" in Cartersville this week. All kinds of activity, round here! If they can get some business in here with the studio, more power to them, we've already spent the money to build and maintain it.
  6. Kinda --- The parties are the same, but their positions did flip. This is not a definitive site, but an interesting synopsis from a history teacher - https://www.quora.com/Is-it-true-that-Democrats-used-to-be-the-conservative-party-and-Republicans-used-to-be-the-progressive-party
  7. I just don't do the whole "mall" thing anymore, so I haven't been in sears forever. I like craftman tools, but not enough to drive over the town center to get it. Oh well.
  8. Feeling Punny today... There were once two boll weevil brothers hatched in a cotton field in South Ga. One moved to Hollywood and became a big star. The other just sat in the field eating cotton. He quickly became known as being the lesser of two weevils. ************************************** The Northern Sportsman went out in his kayak on a winter day and got cold out on the lake. So he built a fire in the boat to keep warm. However, it burned a hole in the bottom and he sank and drown. This proved that you can't have your Kayak and Heat it too... ***********
  9. Well done! As one who has a hard time hitting the target within 30 yds with my compound, I am seriously impressed!!
  10. The county had a good chance of getting heavy industry based on rail access near Hiram, but the BOC of GOBs back in the glory days of building rezoned most of the good land around the tracks where the business park and sidings could have gone for houses and Planed Residential Developments. So now we're screwed and can only watch the trains go by.
  11. Hope so, put the garden in (such as it is) this weekend. Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Lima Beans, Green Beans.
  12. LOL, well I think I'll need about 80 bales worth, how many trees you have in that back yard??
  13. Good luck. We called the Maytag repair line and the crooked idiot that came out not only replaced parts that were fine, he took for-freaking-ever doing it. I do my best to do it myself now. Youtube is wonderful, there are a lot of nice people out there that have done "do it yourself" videos with all the tricks included.
  14. They need to.. The upload speed of the DSL based UVERSE services is awful. My son likes to upload video and a single one can take all night at 1.5 mbs. Did they give you any idea what the Giga rate would be after the three years?
  15. Yea, I used to have a troop nearby that delivered, that was a nice way to get it. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out!
  16. Can anyone recommend someplace to get decent Pine Straw around here? The loads I've gotten from the local big box stores in the last few years have been really poor, lots of sticks, moldy, weedy, etc. Guess they go for the low cost stuff, then sell it for $4.00 a bale. 17. I'd keep it for at least six weeks for a check in the US and six to eight weeks for international checks. Even if they credit your account, you have to give it time for the checks account owner to determine it's a fraud and have the bank reverse the check. You'll need that check for evidence if it's bad.
  18. I vote against most Constitutional changes as a matter of course. Too many of them are specific giveaways to a particular group confused into a mass of legalize.
  19. and have the county foot all the bills. Then it ain't Free Enterprise, but Freebie Enterprise off the public purse that *I* fill. Let Propeller pay for all the improvements that it's going to be making money off of and we'll have no issues. The problem is that no investor in the world would loan a corporation money on this flimsy of a business plan when they know the corporation can go bankrupt and leave them with million$ in bad loans. So why should *we* do it.
  20. This is what I found about it: http://www.luederlaw.com/duration-of-covenants-a-survey-of-georgia-law/
  21. Haven't been able to get in all day, trying to figure out if it's the site or AT&T. Thanks,
  22. *Could* be a valid business case. I've said that all along. No way that you could find a 737 load's worth of people to leave from this side of town. It might have worked from the other field because the people density is much, much higher on the east side and the airport would have been much closer than HJ which is on this side of town through very overcrowded highways. However, for those masses of customers, our airport is much further away out in the middle of nowhere. If there is a business case to be made, it would have to be the smaller jets, However, as the commission document s
  23. Oh I agree with you there, ain't likely to happen. However, since empty seats on a plane don't generate revenue, simple economics means that "The airline which shall not be named" will attempt to fly here for a very short time before aborting their deal like they have elsewhere and then we (the county) will be stuck with paying for all these improvements (for Propeller will obviously declare bankruptcy to get out of their end of any "contracts" ) and have a real white elephant of an airport and the bond payments for all the improvements. I've said all along that if this is going to work,
  24. From AirNav for Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport: Dimensions: 5505 x 100 ft. / 1678 x 30 m Surface: concrete/grooved, in good condition Weight bearing capacity: Single wheel: 90.0 Double wheel: 130.0 So this means a total landing weight of 130K lbs if the plane uses double gear mains. The C130 on the other hand is designed for soft and rough field landings/takeoffs, so it uses dual axle double wheel mains, so it could be heavier than that and still maintain a runway loading below it's minim
