Getting Darker, looks like rain, hearing thunder .... and ....

Sigh. Of course I put 2 inches of rain in the pool, that *always" causes the storms to head this way. Arrggg! -
A quote from an article in Atlanta Mag about a woman that tried to use it for a month as her primary transport: Now this article is from early 2015, so if ridership has dropped 60% from *that*, it is a total waste of money.

Abuse of the Senior Property Tax Break? (Cobb County)
The Sound Guy replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That's what I'm wondering. When the Dad passes away, what are the odds that they will remember/bother to remove him from the deed and inform the county remove the exemption? Low I'd bet. It's gonna be one of the last things on their mind after losing a loved one. -
Thought about that, but how to determine if the user is the driver or a passenger?

The AJC has an article this morning that the Cobb County Tax Assessor has chopped his property tax bill by 60 something percent by adding his dad to the deed when his dad moved into the house. He applied for the Senior School tax exemption based on his dad being one of the "owners" of the house. So the Assessor, being in his 40's, is looking at up to 20 years of tax savings he normally wouldn't get and the school system will get shortchanged that amount. The article points out that in Cobb: In 2000, 24,000 homes qualified for the exemption, costing the schools 20 million in revenue.

From the AJC today: It's been often said that a liberal is a future conservative who hasn't been mugged yet, or in this case, who's daughters haven't been face to face with the issue in *their* bathroom. I wish her luck with that, most of the so called "minority" groups that I've seen are not interested in compromise, just in pushing their agenda as the only way to do things. Welcome to our world Ms. Smith.

Granted, I know nothing about the facts of the crash other than the one driver was going *way* too fast. But really? How can the lawyer say this with a straight face? "McGee’s lawyers claim she was not using Snapchat before the crash. In court filings, the teenager’s attorneys said the damage to the victim was caused solely by his own negligence."

Yep. I was reading the manual for a blower I bought from Sears (yea, I'm that weird) and looked at the engine specs. The blower engine was rated for 50 (that's five zero, fifty) hours of operation. That's it. Use it for an hour a week and it's gone within a year. Junk. Yep, it's all crap that is trying to get the lowest price they can because we've proved we as a nation prefer cheap Chinese carp.

We didn't have one when I was a kid, it was more my Father in law that got me started. I keep it pretty small so I don't get too bored. We mainly do it for fresh veggies in the summer, not so much for canning for the rest of the year,. We have canned a few tomatoes if too many come in at once. We have six tomato plants, 5 bell pepper plants (I *really* like peppers) and a couple of rows of beans (about 15 ft long) Any more and I'd not have the time to deal with it properly.

Tomatoes are doing very well, lots of green ones, still waiting on the first red. Just starting to get Bell Peppers coming out of the blooms, will be a couple of weeks (or more) to get them. Green Beans are doing well (well, except for those the deer ate), lots of blooms. The Lima's suck. Only had 8 out of the 30 or so I planted come up. Not sure what went wrong. It was strange, this is the first time I planted them and I had two different colors of seeds in the same bag. (some white, some dark) I'm wondering if I got a bad batch. About to plow them back under and add two mo

Yep. I've been burned so many times buying cheap you'd think I'd learned by now... but no... I just hate that buying the "upgraded" version now seems to mean you get a lot of cheap "features" that aren't worth much vs getting any more quality in the build unless you go *real* expensive.

Harmony Grove Church maybe...due to physical laws that no one can override. Those that try go flying off of it when they try to do 60 MPH on it. -

With a football field being 100 yds or 300 ft long, that is 300 ft/sec x 60 seconds/minute x 60 minutes/hour or 1,080,000 ft per hour which divided by 5280 ft/mile = 204 MPH!! Just where the heck do you see people drive that fast around here? I want to stay away from there! Really, I agree with you, the few minutes it takes to pull over to get the message are miniscule to what it could cost both you and others (friends having been rear ended twice by people they suspect were texting ). I have been known to pull the Nook and read a bit at some of these long red ligh -
Got our appraisal today. I was all ready to contest it this year as i had a private appraisal done late last year that was much lower but they went and dropped ours by 8.1% on their own. Still a touch higher than I think is accurate, but much better than before and not worth the chance of appealing. Since the last ESPLOST (voted on in May of 2014) just started collecting (April 2016) at least we have until 2021 until we have to worry about having the School bond payments re-added to our bills. Of course, I'm sure we'll see a vote on extending it several years before that and with the ho

We used Overhead Door when our spring broke on our double door. Was there when he said he would be and the door is still working fine 2 years later. Cost was about average from what I've heard. I'd use them again just for being reliable.

GreyStone Power Company is upping their investment in Paulding

Hmmm... I don't guess there will be any jobs created from that 180 acres (at least until the headquarters moves here), but unless the commission gave away tax breaks, we should get some good property tax money from it. -

Grant you a big point on #3. I pity the poor Democrat that wanted to vote on one or two Democratic races which removed their choice from the local races since no Democrat is running. #4 as well, I had to hold my nose for several of the votes (but Heath I left blank) My dad crossed over in the past to vote in the democratic primary just to be sure he could vote for Larry McDonald. (Boo Hiss I hear from the gallery) He would then pick the worst candidate for all the other positions.

That's one thing they can't win on... I like my fries crispy! Good for them being willing to cook some more for you.
