  1. Used Crist to replace some leaking vent pipe pieces. They showed up when they said and I had them do it with no leaks later. Not cheap, but beat me going up there.
  2. Yea, I've been of the opinion that the issue has been too much emphasis on Jones, Ryan started finding Roddy today and wow what do you know, the run game and Jones both started getting opened up. Great game.
  3. Whatever. Macon tried it and it didn't work and it saved 2+ hours of travel for half of south Ga. Ain't gonna work here saving 45 minutes. And no way does it affect fares like you are implying. And no way a business person for whom time is money is going to take a chance on being stranded for days when HJ is 45 minutes away. Now if they could do a $25 fare to HJ for connections, they might have more of a chance....
  4. Pubby, Pubby, Pubby. Traffic flying out of Silver Comet is going to have minimal, if any, impact on general pricing in this area. Pricing is up in the US because seat loading is up. It is very rare for me to travel on a plane that has any seats open. Why? Because running with empty seats costs the airlines money. That would work in the era of cheap fuel and when it was impossible to predict how loaded a plane would be but not now. Now they have computer models that predict how many people of each type they need to have to fill the plane and fuel/planes are a major expense.
  5. Oh, come on Pubby, are you really proposing that no airport should be allowed to have airline service unless they provide direct service to all other US destinations? You run a small business, I know you know better than that. It's call the *Spoke* and Hub system and it works quite well. There are several destinations that I got to regularly that I can't get to from here directly. In that case, I fly first to another hub that is closer to the destination airport and take a smaller airplane to the final airport. It doesn't make economic sense to send a 757 to every little airport in the
  6. Grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs for a bunch of the extended family last night, with baked beans, chips, dips, and many, many deserts. Breakfast Casserole and grits and homemade biscuits this morning. Ham and whatever else we come up with for the rest of the day. We eat our big meals at the family party, Christmas day is to relax.
  7. You betcha. There may be a small operation possible for a few vacation locations, but vacations is not where the money is. Business travelers are where an airline makes their money and as one, i would NEVER schedule a trip to a micro airport with only a few (or one) flights a day vs a major airport 45 minutes away. Not going to happen. Not to mention if you look a map and make a circle from Silver Comet with a radius halfway to HJ, you will see that for 90+% of the Atlanta market, HJ is much closer to their home than Silver Comet would be. By a long shot. Add that Delta will certain
  8. Well, unless you are flying to one of few destinations that the new airport would support (on the one or two days a week it runs) you'll still be going to Hartsfield. And if the two bit airline they find to fly here cancels a flight, you'll be paying a second last minute fare and *still* driving to Hartsfield. Or giving up on your vacation and going home. I travel for business and go to Hartsfield-Jackson 20-30 times a year. It's not that big a deal. As for workers, I'd be highly surprised to see any full time union workers at Hartsfield-Jackson give up their seniority and time to
  9. The weather alert woke us up this morning at 5:15 or so for the Tornado warning. No Tornado but those were some heavy, heavy rains. My front yard looked like a creek flowing by the house. It also looks like I have some work to do on the gutter drainage system if I don't want water in the basement.
  10. My wife loves wrapping. She considers it an art form and does make some beautiful packages. What about ribbons? She ribbons every package if it's big enough.
  11. Took a look at the eagle cam a little while ago. One of the birds was there with dinner. Shouldn't be long until Egg Watch 2016!!! I enjoy watching them with it being local (pretty much) birds. http://www.berry.edu/eaglecam/ The other eagle just showed up.
  12. When I was kid and we have a live tree, we took it out back, stood it up and put a piece of newspaper in the lower limbs and lit it. The resulting 2 minute blaze was incredible, the tree having been cut for over a month. This story has pictures of a 96 ft tall tree going up in smoke. Yikes!! http://abc7.com/news/fire-destroys-christmas-tree-outside-costa-mesa-hotel/1122064/ We've had an artificial tree for years since our son was having breathing problems at Christmas. I'd forgotten how well they burn. Is your tree artificial or real?
  13. Had good service from Mike and Skyline. For actual blocked pipe I had, Mike recommended calling a full service plumber, at the time he seemed to be mainly doing septic service.
  14. Hmm.. Hadn't heard that... maybe we lucked out going at the end of August after all.
  15. I'm in Denver this week... you can have Colorado. It was 67 today, forecast is for 5-12 inches of snow Saturday. It's like Ga weather, just much much drier. My sinuses have been going nuts all week. What we saw of Alaska on the cruise was beautiful. I want to head back, but in the middle of the summer.
  16. England is on my list of places to go see. The history of the place I think would be amazing!! I forgot about the NW Territory. I was there for about 20 minutes on a train ride during our Alaskan cruise. Not really sure if that should count however since they wouldn't let us get off the train. As mentioned above, England is on my list of places to see.
  17. How about something different? I've been traveling for personal all my life and for business over 20 years. In that time I've visited every state in the union except 4, West Virgina, Maine, North Dakota, and Vermont. Been to Wash DC. Been to 4 provences of Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Sitting here trying to decide where was my favorite place to visit. (not to live, just visit) Severa places in the running: I loved going to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It's the capital and just loaded with things to see and do. Summer and Winter there is lots to
  18. Yea, I'd be concerned about trying to shoot out tires, much too much chance of a miss or the bullet going through and hitting bystanders. I don't think I'd try that in a busy christmas parking lot. Depends a lot on how they were pointed. What should he ahve done? Should he have emptied the clip into the engine block? A slug in a piston will bring it to a stop in a hurry and not much would make it through both sides of the car and engine block. If you miss the block, it could be trouble. Or into the brakes? A slug in the rotor should stop that wheel pretty quick without the slug making
  19. I was at a 40 year old church that was the same way. Nobody had a clue where the tank was, some thought it was under the parking lot.
  20. Why can't Matty throw straight any more? It seems like I've seen more passes off the mark this year than all of last season.
  21. Welcome back to Seattle, GA!!
  22. Curious. Did they take his car away and refuse to give it back until he comes off the meds? I doubt it. Why would you expect them to do differently with his firearm? Both are equally deadly if improperly used. Should he carry it while under the influence? Heck no. That is asking for trouble. Neither should people drive under the influence, but it happens all the time. Should we make it where you need a licence to buy a car? ******************************* I would suggest that this "gun culture" Lori and Pubby keep whining about is greatly enhanced by people being tol
