`Storm blew over the tomatoes into the bell peppers, quite a bit of damage, lost a bunch of green tomatoes. Picked a bunch of green beans yesterday, have to get some more today before they overripe.

Swimming has a very specific meaning. swim·ming ˈswimiNG/ noun noun: swimming the sport or activity of propelling oneself through water using the limbs. "No Swimming" sign means "We don't want to pay for a lifeguard and our lawyer says this will keep us from losing the lawsuit. Don't go so far out you have to swim." "DANGER! No Swimming" sign means "Don't go out so far you have to swim, something we don't want to tell you about might happen if you go that deep." "DANGER! NO WADING OR SWIMMING! KEEP OUT OF THE WATER! " sign means, "Don't put even a big toe

I read somewhere that the lagoon is part of a large canal system in the Disney properties that drain rain water away. The 'gators come up the canals. I imagine that fencing them would be difficult with them getting clogged up with plant life and trash after the rains. Ah! I found this description: "It's not always obvious to guests these days, but Walt Disney World is located on acre after acre of wet, boggy swampland. When construction began in April 1969, the Reedy Creek Improvement District's initial challenge was how to make this land suitable for a gigantic theme park resort wi

OK, I have to confess, when I saw the title I was like: "Big Deal... we have a lot of dentists in Paulding."

All my tomatoes fell over, lost a lot of green ones. Power was out for a couple of hours, tree on the lines in the subdivision.

With all the Airport this and Airport that arguments, I haven't seen anything about the proposed county budget that was released this month. Total budget of $58,506,300, down from $59,191,235. 2017 Proposed Budget 6/1/16 It shows a budget decrease of $685,000 with the Detention Center talking the biggest hit of $116,000 but the Tax Assessors office, Voter Registration, Admin, Human Resources, Superior court, Magistrate court, Marshal animal control, Parks and Rec, Library, buss service and development division all taking hits as well. Non-departmental spending (whatever that is)

Not Cherry trees, but I've seen lots of tree issues in the last couple of years. As I drive around I see much larger numbers of dead trees than I ever remember seeing before. The cold winter year before this one killed off a couple of fruit trees my neighbor has. We have had major limbs come out of several trees, the top broke out of one in our front yard, it was 8" or so in diameter at the bottom, so it was a major part of the tree. I think some of this is the result of that really cold snap last year killing off parts of trees and they are now finally rotting to the point of fa

We cut the paper version down to two a week, Thurs and Sunday so I can get the advertisements and coupons. I do get the electronic version every day and read it quite often. The AJC has improved their reporting lately. -
The joys of low cost travel have ended up with people going to places where they don't understand the dangers. Someone grows up in the inner city, they don't know the country, or the beach, or anything outside. Grow up in the mid west, you won't know what seagulls diving means. Saw a story a few days ago, a guy went to Yellowstone, went off the trails and fell in a 400 degree hot pool and died. Something he could do safely at home, (walking off the trails) was deadly when the same rules were applied to a new place. Meanwhile, the travel and promotional people don't mention the

I would expect that. A hospital takes highly trained people for most of the jobs. Even delivering food is dangerous in a place of infection where the slightest mistake can mean sickness or death. They have to have people with the education and skills to do the job. They don't live where they haven't had a job. When the hospital expands as fast as they have, they get people from other counties. However, having the hospital here means that those people who get those jobs will be more likely to move here to shorten their drives. As well, those living here will be more tempted to get th

You just never know where a gator will be in Florida. As well, they are masters of not being seen until they strike and smaller ones like this one can run up to 25-30 MPH for a short distance. My grandmother lived on a lake in Orlando many years ago. As many times as we went down there and swam, I feel blessed we never saw one. Prayers for the family. You go to a family vacation spot for a week of relaxation, this is the last thing you imagine.

The answer on businesses is often "it depends". What kind of business are we talking about? An industry type business (non-retail) will use very little of community resources, while a Big Box store of the same property value will use much more resources (police support, road traffic for customers, bigger roads, etc) As well, if he county leaders gave away 10-15 years of property tax breaks to get the industry here, then they will not be providing as big of an income until that honeymoon period is over. However, even not paying as much in property taxes, they still provide a benefit as all

Let me grab the AK and I'll be right down!! * I don't actually have an AK, but hey, I feel left out when the left implies that all good Conservatives are supposed to have one. -
Hmmm... From those stats, it appears that Democratic Governors appoint crappy judges no matter what party the judge is. "There are lies, damn lies and statistics..."

If those numbers in the title are even close to right... Holy Carp!! That makes the PRDs we had in the boom days look like the open range. If they have the required green space, those houses must have 1/4 acre lots or so. Dang. Let's look just like the North East why don't we.

Toyo Tire To Host Job Fair At Chattahoochee Tech
The Sound Guy replied to LUMPY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If the worker doesn't like the pay, they are welcome to go somewhere else and get a job that pays more, assuming they have the skills. The stupid part of "minimum wage" laws is that if no one was willing to work for that wage, then Walmart would have to pay more to get their workers. So why are people flocking there for jobs? Right now, because the idiots in Washington (of both parties) that are beholden to big business and profit are allowing laws and rules to be put into place to run manufacturing out of this country, there is a excess of people who need work, but no good jobs for t -
Trump to drop out of race before GOP convention
The Sound Guy replied to gpatt0n's topic in Wild side of the news
I haven't checked the facts yet, but saw two articles that had some interesting facts: The other: I wonder how many of those missing Democratic voters jumped to the Republicans to vote for Trump figuring he'd be easy to beat by either Hillary or Bernie. The south made it even easier by pulling in their elections and only have the presidential primary on the ballot. So a Democrat could vote in the Republican for the presidential primary, then democratic for all the other primaries and not miss a beat. I think it's time for the primaries to be closed up. 'Course, -
I need a Squirrel killing pellet gun with scope
The Sound Guy replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm not an expert by any means, so YMMV on this, but I'd recommend a .22 cal pellet gun. Something like this. High velocity for high energy at impact, as long as you don't exceed the speed of sound. The range you think you will be shooting is important too. For my hunting rifle, I use a .243, with 100 Grain bullet, which gives me a high velocity (meaning I don't have to worry as much about hight adjustments for range), but has a shorter maximum range (125 yrds or so) than say a 30.06 with 150 grain bullet. If the range is short, go as light as you can without exceedin -
Old Buford the buzzard used say at Six Flags: Almost everyone gets here early, well, except for people from Alabama. They see all those signs on I-20 that say "STOP! Clean Rest Rooms!!!" So they do.

Our green beans are growing like crazy!!! I suspect I'll have to pick the first crop by next Sat. Tomatoes are reaching 6 ft, lots of green ones. Peppers are beginning to form, will be a few more weeks before they get pick-able size.

LOL, Yea, one year we planned a great FL vacation that turned out to be the vacation from hell. We planned on taking the three kids and both sets of grandparents to orlando, get three day tickets to Disney, rent a house with pool and just have a great time. A week before the vacation, my FIL falls from a deerstand they were building, hitting his head on a root. He's rushed to Savannah. My wife and I head down there. He's in serious condition for three or four days, then the doctor releases him for the trip home, knowing my MIL can't afford to stay down there, telling him to see his

Yea, there were a lot of rich people used the "college" avoidance plan. Those who couldn't afford that (no loans in those days) didn't have that option. I would hope that those that look down on Ali look down on all those "college boys" as well. RIP.
