One of our neighbors up the street in the Capital off of Dabbs Bridge Road kept his truck snow plow when they moved down here for some reason. He called the PDOT this morning and got permission to plow DBR and many of the subdivisions off of it. We thank both your husband, the other workers for clearing the roads!!

All roads in Paulding are now considered impassible.

DS just made it home a little while ago and he agrees completely. Lots of people stopping in the middle of the road going up hill or at the bottom of hills, asking for an accident. -

I have a 7:30 flight in the morning... don't think I'm going to make it. Figured all day that Delta would cancel it, but so far, it's green and go. Guess it will go with out me. Hopefully it will be at least delayed and I won't have to pay the $150 change fee.... -
Finally arrived in North Paulding, about 1/2" in 15-20 minutes, really coming down!!

Hmmmm our front loader has been leaking randomly... I'll have to checkl that out while stuck at home!

Thats what I figure. I went and got gas and hardware for the generator, checked out the chain saw and mixed up gas for it, charged up all my batteries, bought out the grocery store of goodies, brought in a load of firewood and checked out the gas fireplace and found the forecast lost 2 inches of sleet and 1 of snow. I figure if I don't pack for the trip tomorrow and go cover the windshield of the truck, I should be able to get us down to flurries....

DS works at Ingles, said it was a major nightmare, they are out of everything at the mention of the "S" word. Problem is this is supposed to be slow week being after the holidays and their truck doesn't come until tuesday and had to come over blood mountain in NG, they have had truck drivers killed in 2010, they won't drive any more in the snow and Idon't blame them. They will be empty a while.

That is so cool!!! Already having an interest in the sky obviously, I imagine this will propel her to an excellent career in astronomy. It's great to see youth involved in hobbies such as that. Here is a link to a story about it. -
Squirrel Proof Tube Bird Feeder: Anyone Use One?
The Sound Guy replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We use one we got at Wild Birds Unlimited in the 7 hills shopping center and had great luck with it. The squirrels tried for a while, then gave up and now just eat the seed that falls on the ground. -
That is only for the initial purchase, this $35 fee is a extra fee that goes directly to the state, even the county gets none of that money. Ain't our representatives grand?

We got a sleep number a couple of years ago and I like it. It helps a lot with the back pain. (But not as much as losing 50 lbs would. ) We got ours at the Mattress store in the Target shopping Center on 41 in Acworth. Can't remember the name, but they had both Tempurpedic and sleep number there at the time you could try.

This solved the issue for us on a old Netgear with my son's Xbox. I had to upgrade to the latest firmware to get the option since the router was 4 years old or so. However, the router appears to be getting ready to go to the great router graveyard in the sky, it locks up solid about once a week. Guess I'll be watching the sale papers soon... I loved playing the Xbox for the 3.74 seconds it took until I got blown away in Call of Duty on-line. Hint: Never be the noob playing along with someone on "expert" level on line play.

Hey Pip - but how about a reality check on this? The above costs money. It makes manufacturing/growing here more expensive, therefore, imports are cheaper. Then the majority of the people of the US who are out of work or in low paying jobs will go to Wally World and purchase the cheap imported version of whatever it is and the world is still polluted, just somewhere other than the US. Meanwhile, the US grower/manufacturers have all gone out of business because they can't compete and dumped more people onto the list of those looking for the cheapest version of everything, making it worse.
-
Agreed that something like the EPA is needed because everyone wants the *other* guy to stop polluting, but for global issues, there is no point in our killing all our manufacturing here and stopping pollution here when we'll buy all the replacements from a country (cough, china, cough) that will pollute the air and then have it blow this way anyway. Now if the bloody Liberals were *serious* about the environment, they would put a import tax on all items from countries that are known to have slack environment control in order to have reduced prices, to encourage US manufacturing with pollut

Both boys of mine work retail and are scheduled early tomorrow for the after Christmas rush, already told them that they are calling in late. Esp after the middle boy totaled out the truck on ice just last week. The high is only 32 or so, but with sunshine on the roads they should clear up where the sun can hit it. At least I hope so. We'll see.

We had a snowball battle mid afternoon, but have another inch and half on on the deck again. Where we didn't touch the snow I just measured 3 inches total. 61 and Dabbs Bridge Just heard a call on the scanner of car sliding off and hitting a tree at 61/Dabbs Bridges. My PIL are staying over for the night. From the Radar, about another 45 minutes of snow here, with a lighter band to come tonight possibly. ya'll be careful!
-
Finally, after 10 years, we're in the perfect location for the snow!! We've got about an inch and a half, perfect snowball/snowman snow off of Dabbs Bridge. Calling for 1 - 2" at our house, 1 to 3 at Cartersville. My folks drove over, said the roads are OK except where shaded, there you have to coast over and take it easy. Tonight may be another matter if it doesn't clear out soon enough, but looks like it will. Cheers and Merry Christmas!!

Yeppers. And the high paying jobs go with it. Why the Liberals can't see the link between choking big manufacturers out of the country and the unemployment rate is the one of the 10 major mysteries of the world to me.

Sooo, will there be Christmas Mayberries this year?

Christmas snow here could reach 3 inches
The Sound Guy replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Looking at the latest forecast from NOAA, looks like more snow than rain, but less of it than then thought, no more than 1/2". That will be nice. -

It's been hard to get the spirit going here also. Thought we learned from my Home Depot Hell project of two years ago started during thanksgiving so we started this one in late October to be finished by Thanksgiving. Nov 2nd, I'm called by work and told to be in NJ by the 3rd and spent the entire month up there except the holiday week. Needless to say, I'm *still* trying to finish up the project and decorating is way behind. A mayberry would be really, really nice. -
Anyone else getting calls from "Toll Free Call"
The Sound Guy replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yea, we tried that, but the 6th call today, I was beginning to get tired of looking at the Caller ID.
