  1. Tapping my feet impatiently waiting for "How Firm a Foundation" the next in the Safehold Series by David Weber. Then waiting for "A Rising Thunder" in the Honorverse series by the same author. The man simply *has* to learn to write faster!!
  2. They quit delivering to our neighborhood in N Paulding years ago. Very rarely have I missed it.
  3. Interestingly, when I bought air tickets to Aruba on my Discover card for our trip, we got a letter from Discover a week or so later suggesting that we call them before our trip and authorized charges from Aruba only to be sure we had no interruption of service. Thought it was interesting that the computer not only flagged on an airline ticket, but that read the destination information. We did call and had no issues.
  4. LOL, don't take your own fork however, a guy tried that when we went and the king almost turned him over to the inquisition for investigation of his evil device! We enjoyed it the time we went with my folks. You might want to get there a little early, as I recall, they have lots of stuff to look at before the meal/show. Go Blue Knight!! SCA = Society for Creative Anachronism?
  5. I think I've seen them at Wild Birds Unlimited up by Seven hills. You might give them a call.
  6. Both my feeders have built in moats. While we're on the topic of Hummingbirds and feeders, how about those lying box covers on the Hummingbird feeders? You know, the ones that show 3 or 4 hummingbirds at the 6 position feeder, feeding and shooting the breeze with each other. Yea, right!! Sure that's going to happen. I've got one feeder in the front, one on the back deck and all day long both of them have a hummingbird guarding it so none of the others can feed. You see a new one come in to feed and *zoom* the guarding bird is off to the races! Lotta good having a multi
  7. Heck, In NJ, Self serve is illegal, you have to let them pump it and clean your windshield and it's *still* 2-3 cents cheaper than Georgia. It's funny, I don't remember it being that way until Katrina, when we all proved we'd pay $5 a gallon for gas, then suddenly, for ATL, pricing is all the market will bear.
  8. Pretty good movie, but the first one was better....
  9. 'Good' by who's definition? 'Evil' by who's definition? 'Sane' by who's definition? 'Normal' by who's definition? Yours right? Hopefully we can at least agree that all of us have our own definitions of the above terms and they will be anywhere from slightly to majorly different for all of us. Unless he has a physical mental disorder that prevents him from facing the world as it is, then all these people have been making rational choices based on their view of the way the world works. That makes them very misguided, (in my opinion of course) not insane. That's the problem with all
  10. Had this problem for two years, then finally got pissed off and kept calling every time it went out. Third guy to come out was finally a DSL expert. (turns out they combined all their POTS, DSL, etc people into one 'service' team and you get the next person on the list, no matter what they know about or what your problem is with. Doesn't that make sense?) They changed out the modem, isolated our wires, changed us to a whole house filter, still died all the time. Anyway, the last guy finally rolled us to a another port on the DSLAM in the ATT box at the curb and *presto* solid as rock for
  11. Ah, gotcha. Yea, well I kinda think they raised it last year just so they wouldn't have to this year, but who knows.
  12. I didn't see where Paulding Raised the County rate. I was on vacation the end of June so just may have missed it. I found an updated budget, but it showed it as still 7.6 mils and a snotload of more budget cuts. The article I found showed that the school board kept their rate the same. We should see a 2 mil or so decrease in the School Bond funding from the Education SPLOST. At least if the board keeps their promises. If so, looks like my taxes will be lower this year, even with the value staying the same. Those who's value was dropped should see a goodly reduction. I
  13. I think this story helps prove my theory that the sum of all intelligence in the planet is a constant, but the population is increasing.
  14. As the man said in 'Unstoppable'... "That's a lot of Red" Dabbs Bridge/N61 is getting pounded.
  15. My mutt followed me down to my basement office. He NEVER follows me to the basement normally as I used to give him his haircuts there and he hated them. This time he was chomping at the bit to go down. He doesn't like thunder. It does seem to be slacking off, not much wind, but a lot of rain and lightning here. Well, just as I post the above, it turns black again and the bottom falls out again. Well, it's rain and the grass needed it!!
  16. Could be, but I think I'd go for the one with a renting customer in KSU and that other school. Gotta have some income to pay off his lawyers...
  17. Hey Pip, make sure you foreclose on the Old Courthouse, not the new one, you want the one that is paid off.
  18. Yea, before it costs even MORE. From what I understand, this is just the money that Surepip had to pay his lawyers to keep the case going as the county threw rock after rock into the tiller. It's only a small, small part of the entire cost. It would be interesting to see how much the County's lawyers have been paid for their part of this. The costs will continue too as the trial for the original mis-doings hasn't even started yet. One would hope that if the county doesn't have much of a defense, (which I suspect they don't or they would have just let Surepip into court and lose) the
  19. LOL, maybe so! I'd love to have video of the police officer's faces when they realized there really was a robbery across the street!! My PIL live in Austell and I've been to Wallace's many a time and know the area pretty well. I'm looking forward to seeing the video myself. And to think, I told my friend that he'd never see anything interesting railfanning! (He'd missed both the train hitting the truck in Acworth and the derailment in Douglasville)
  20. I have to ask, what kind of idiot robs the bank across the street from the Police department? You can't make this stuff up folks. Interestingly, I should have a good view of the whole action soon, a friend was rail fanning at the tracks there and ended up videoing the entire thing. The police asked him if he'd videoed it and then asked for a copy. He's promised to get me a copy too.
  21. Austin and company are fast climbing up my "Find someone new" list for politicians. Shame too, other than this I've been rather pleased. They need to either settle with Pip if they were wrong or take it to court if the county was right. Either way they need to quit recycling my tax money into their re-election funds....
  22. I just found a nest in the front yard. I wonder if it's swarming season for them or something...
  23. My son works at a Grocery store over near Crackworth... don't even get him started talking about EBT unless you want to hear several hours of complaints....
  24. Thought I'd try to have a fun topic: My mom grew up in Aruba (my grandfather was a surgeon for Standard Oil, they had a refinery there), and they were married on the island, so Dad and Mom took my wife and I there for a week to see where she had grown up. What a great place to visit! Temps were about 83 degrees for the high every day, with a strong ocean trade wind. Waves were a little strong at the beach where our timeshare rental was, but at the high rise hotels down the beach they were perfect. All the beaches are public land there, the hotels have no control over them, so you
