  1. That Karma train not only entered the station, it flattened 'em! Incredible seeing that girl jump off the stretcher as soon as it got off the field and and play resumed and she RUNS over to ref to re-enter the field. She's lucky she's not on the men's team, someone causing a loss like that could get seriously injured, they take Soccer seriously there... That cross was incredible, right on target, and Abby is a beast. We went to a couple of games while Solo played for the Atlanta Beat and she is incredible. I think Abby has the record for latest goal in a Woman's world
  2. Romans 14 1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another ma
  3. Don't get me wrong, I think alternate energy sources and energy use reduction are a great idea. My dad has one of the first homes in Cobb County to have a Solar Electric system and was designed so energy efficiently that it turned out to not be cost affective to finish the Solar heat collectors already built in. My builder told me I wasting floor space in my house when I built it with 11 inch thick outer walls: 3 1/2 inch of brick, 1/2 inch air space, 1 inch foam, 5 1/2 inch wall (2x6) with R19 fiberglass and 1/2 inch sheet rock. But my summer power bills were 30% under most of the homes ar
  4. As several people noted in the comments in the article, the biggest problem is not the science, it's the mixing of the science with political agendas and policies. If they were pushing to adapt to the coming change, it would be one thing, but pushing to "reverse" the change is quite another. The earth has warmed and cooled over and over for many years. Multiple Ice Ages have occurred and recovered from. Hmm, wonder what caused *those* warming trends? Heck, Georgia was half covered in Ocean and all of Florida was at one time or another, what makes these people think that what we have no
  5. Good Luck SurePip - Hope this stage finally ends. SG
  6. Don't get me started on home insurance. No claims and I'm paying almost three times what I was paying in 2000. It's crazy.
  7. Yeppers. Take the two major items that *everyone* has to purchase out of the cost of living index. Hmmm... you don't think they are trying to cook the inflation numbers do ya? We have open and honest government, they told me so!! Surely not!
  8. Does aviation fuel (gasoline) have ethanol added to it? Is aviation fuel legal for road use or is not taxed like farm fuel is not taxed? SG
  9. I just got alerted that my flight into Atlanta for this afternoon is cancelled. <sigh> This has been the trip from Hades all week. SG
  10. I got caught by one of the fake alerts the other day, it looked almost like my standard alert and I wasn't quick on the uptake. Took me 4 hours to clean the crap off that it installed. It redirected both Firefox and IE to its own installed proxy server that wouldn't allow me to do anything but go to their site to pay a ransom to get control of my machine back. I have read since then that the ransom only works for a week or so, then they do it again. Those people who write that stuff make me think of the phrase "But Sheriff, he *Needed* killing!" SG
  11. That's nutz! If they lock me out of it, how am I supposed to keep it up? Can they have the sheriff evict you when it's in your name? I would think that as long as it's in your name, you would have control over it.
  12. Yea, same here, mortgage escrow is one of the biggest legalized fraud schemes out there IMHO... My company always calculates my escrow in August, based on the taxes from the year before. So last year's tax drop of $450 because of the value drop wasn't included. Add that to the legal theft of funds that they are allowed to adjust the account so that the balance never drops below *two months* of escrow payments. That two month minimum means that they keep over $900 of my money year round, interest free. Then I figure we have close to $600 extra dollars in the account by now on top of th
  13. Found this on 11 Alive this afternoon. Seems like to me that if the bank indeed changed the locks, then it's their house. I do hope the Marshall's office is holding off until they get the full story. I'd hate to have the county sued for improper arrest because the bank didn't complete it's part of the paperwork. Been a lot of that lately, did anyone see the article on the couple in Florida that foreclosed on a Bank of America Branch because they won a judgement against the bank in a bank foreclosure screw up and it didn't pay? LMAO! Seems like this would be easy to check out, fore
  14. It's on a semi-official Paulding county site. I have to wonder if Paulding really needs two different sites for info about the county. Proposed 2012 Budget Happy Reading!! PS. What the heck happened to the Silver Comet Trail that they need this: BID AWARDS: Discuss action to award the repair to the Silver Comet Trail at Weddington Road Project to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, Plateau Excavation Inc. in the amount of $1,531,655.80. That's 3/4 ths of the budget shortage there...
  15. The rates on the appraisals *are* last year's rates, if your value hasn't changed, then the tax total should be the same. That said, there still could be changes in the millage rates, this years has not been set yet. One change to the good would be that I think that the Education SPLOST kicks in this year and most (if not all) of the line marked "School Bond" will be paid by the SPLOST. As far as the county goes, I found the proposed 2012 budget at some weird site I never heard of before, (http://ga-pauldingcounty.civicplus.com/) that looks like Paulding.gov, but has different infor
  16. It's pretty much anything. I'd been traveling a lot and our washer started leaking water everywhere. I not at home and my wife washes *lots* of clothes, so I tell her to call someone. She Googles Maytag and calls the number. He comes out and it's going to be $399.00, it needs the valve that is realy broken and a new computer because it was putting out "error codes" Duh, the error code was NF which means "NOT FILLING" because the stupid valve was broken. But she had already told him OK and I wanted ti fixed quick, but it still took two weeks for him to get it running again. I could ha
  17. We get flooded all Spring with rain 3 days a week and then WHAM, nothing in the last 2 weeks .... And people wonder why I won't sod my yard.... Gotta love Georgia weather...
  18. Very true. I've got a friend that is a manager at one of the big box stores in Hiram and he's stated before that he has a majority of his applicants fail the drug test. If you really want scary, go to the Walmart on the East West connector and Powder Springs Rd after 7:00 PM. I went in there while my kid was practicing at Mud Creek Park. Never again....
  19. Got our assessment today, value remained the same. Curious to see what the assessment of the rest of the county did. SG
  20. Good Tip. Our first home, nobody told me this, after 6 years, I happened to be near the unit in the middle of a summer day and grabbed the return line from the compressor and it about burned my hand! (it should be about outside air temp). I SHUT OFF THE POWER TO THE OUTSIDE UNIT as well as turning off the thermostat and cleaned for over an hour. I couldn't believe the carp that came out!! Afterwards the return line temp was much cooler. FYI: The unit had been running 22 a day before the cleaning, it ran less that 20 a day afterwards (it was very undersized for the home), so
  21. I vaguely recalling seeing GSP there once or twice, but agree it's usually PCSO. I guess GSP would rather stay on the state highways. As far as the OP, I would say I would hope it is a learning experience for him, but often see people like that blaming the accident on *anything* other than themselves.
  22. $300 towing charge? Are you kidding? I've had my car towed all over the county and it wasn't over $100. The only time I've had to have my car towed was when it was not drivable. The only thing I can possibly see is that since you, the original driver of the car, were not there, they have to protect your property and will not let anyone else drive it off. Hard to prove that they have your permission to take it if you are not there... I'd definitely ask around and check however. SG
  23. Second this recomendation. We've gotten three there, two PCHS, one NPHS. They have all been great.
