  2. We got ours around 3:00. We're on Morris Road in Hiram.
  3. Hey Lowrider, I was working for Southern Bell during that storm, too. I was a Service Rep on Whitlock Ave in Marietta. They didn't want us to leave either but I left anyway. Slid most of the way home but managed to get here in about 2-1/2 hours. Hubby wasn't so lucky...he wrecked his truck on Fairground street and had to walk back to his office. Fell on the ice and sprained his knee and was on crutches for a couple of weeks. Once he managed to get home we didn't leave the house for days! In October we welcomed our little "Snow Jam Baby". LOL!!!!
  4. I remember. No power for about a week. We were newlyweds living in an apartment so no fireplace either. We would go sit in our car with the heater on for a little while to warm up. Finally was able to get to his parents house then they lost power after we got there. Made it to my parents house and they lost power, too. That was one cold week!!!!
  5. Our daughter and SIL have a Vue. Kohls and Penneys sell the K-cups for it...or at least they did before Christmas because I bought them some there.
  6. I wish it worked that way in Paulding County. School tax isn't dropped until you turn 65 and then it's only decreased by 50%, I think. It doesn't go away completely until age 70, maybe, the rule says the 100% exemption at age 70 is based on income. Most other counties around here do drop it off at age 62.
  7. We asked one of the road workers yesterday when we were walking on the Silver Comet and he said the road should open sometime later this month. We'll see....
  8. Yeah, Bama just didn't show up last night. I think the loss to Auburn took the wind out of their sails and they just weren't motivated. Oh well...a new season in just 9 months! ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Poor 'ol Dawgs ain't lookin' so good right now....
  10. I just turned 59 in December and the one big thing I've started to notice is I tire alot quicker than I used to. It's taking me longer to get stuff done because I get tired quicker. Also the achy joints and muscles too that someone else has mentioned.
  11. Have you tried searching for the name on Facebook?
  12. Yes, this is a used motorhome we bought 5 years ago.
  13. Well, there ya go! Guess that's why.
  14. I just wish someone could explain to me why you have to appeal the value of a motor vehicle every year!!! Motor vehicles don't increase in value....they depreciate....and the Ad Valorim tax on them goes down a little every year. Seems to me if you ever appeal the value and they agree with you then that lower value should be what they go with from then on. No one at the Tax Commissioner's office can explain it. Everyone I've asked just says "that's just how the law is".
  15. Yeah, and what really bites is you have to redo the appeal every year!!! We bought our motorhome 5 years ago used. The first couple of years we agreed with the valuation but then we noticed it never changed. There was no depreciation. I checked NADA Guides and found the average retail was about $5000.00 less than what the county was valuing it at. We did the appeal and they agreed and lowered it and refunded part of what we had paid to get our tag that year. Well, the following year we get our tag stuff and the value is back to the first amount. I called the Tax Commissioners office and
  16. I like the AT&T commercials with the guy talking to the little kids. Those are cute.
  17. Well, they don't actually require that we use CVS but if we use any other pharmacy they don't pay as much. CVS is the "Preferred Pharmacy Provider" on our insurance plan.
  18. I'm sorry. My condolences to you and your family. She was a beautiful bride!
  19. Our insurance requires us to use CVS. If it weren't for that we wouldn't use them. They're horrible! I rarely get anything filled without some kind of problem.
  20. Steven, aka Johnboy, is doing his Santa stint in New York this year so he's not in town.
  21. I was 8 years old and walking home from school with my sister. Someone ran past us yelling "the President's been shot!". I remember finding my Mom sitting in front of the TV crying when we got home. A very sad day for America. IMO, that day was the end of innocence for Americans.
  22. I agree 100%!!!! Both sides are to blame for this mess. They're in a pissing match with each other and don't give a hoot about the American citizens who were stuck in the middle of it!! Vote 'em all out!!!!
  23. I'm glad this topic has been started! I have a friend who has COPD and recently ended up in the ER because she couldn't breathe. She is on Medicaid and the Advair prescription she has is $376.00 with her Medicaid insurance!!! She can't afford that so she's going without her meds and not doing well at all. I found several Canadian pharmacies that will fill that prescription for under $200.00. I'm kinda scared of that, though. Does anyone have any personal experience with getting prescriptions from a Canadian pharmacy?
  24. I have Protection One and pay $32.00 per month. I have the maintenance plan and cellular backup. I called EMC Security for a quote and they said for the exact service I have with PO it would be around $31.00. I guess I could drop the maintenance plan but I won't give up the cellular back up. Folks who break into houses know if they cut your phone line your alarm doesn't communicate with the monitoring company. Since we're dinosaurs who still have a landline and our system is attached to it we need this service.
