  1. No, you aren't the only one. We just came inside from washing our motorhome and those little suckers were everywhere!!! They were landing on us and the RV. I don't know how you would go about getting rid of them on your wisteria, though.
  2. My best friend put off taking care of her gallbladder issues until one weekend when we were all in Pigeon Forge on a little mini-vacation. She ended up in the hospital there having emergency surgery. My advice is to go on and get it done. My daughter had hers removed when Ellie was just a few weeks old. It was done as outpatient...she was back home by the end of the day and everything went just fine.
  3. Praying for peace, comfort and complete healing.
  4. We love Discount Tire! We've bought several sets of tires from them and have always had great service. They'll match prices, too. Their customer service is great! A couple of years ago our neighbor had a flat tire on his boat trailer while driving down 278. He managed to get to Discount Tire and pulled in. The guy came out and looked at it and told him he didn't have that tire in stock because it is an odd size. He told him he might have a used one, though. This guy climbed up in the top of their building where they put used tires and dug around until he found one. Brought it down, in
  5. Being in an accident with a drunk driver that seriously injures your 2 year old makes you not have alot of compassion for folks who DUI. BTDT....
  6. I'm going to cover mine tonight but Glenn Burns just said he thought the wind would be up enough tonight to keep the air mixed up so there wouldn't be much chance for frost to form.

If he was just trying to get her attention to tell her something was wrong with her car why wouldn't he have pulled in her driveway with her husband standing there? Sounds to me like he was up to no good!
  8. We're taking a chance. Planted our tomatoes, peppers & squash today. We don't have a huge garden so if the temps drop to freezing it won't be any trouble to cover it.

We used Jill at Enchanting Memories Travel here in Dallas when we went a couple of years ago. She took care of booking everything and it was a few hundred dollars cheaper going through her. Travel Agents usually can save you some money and their services are free. Took alot of the stress off of me! Here's her FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Enchanting-Memories-Travel/121374872837

    Health Ins

Check out Kaiser-Permanente. They are usually alot less than BC/BS or any of the other health insurance companies. Thing is, you'll have to use their clinics and doctors but if you don't mind doing that then you'll probably get a decent rate from them.

I've never thought about cooking a ham in the crockpot but I'd like to try it. I have a 9 lb spiral sliced fully cooked ham. How long should it cook?
  13. I love the Britcoms! Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served are my favorites! RIP Mr. Thornton.
  14. I don't remember an ice storm in '83 but I sure remember Snowjam '82! That was horrible!! Folks stuck everywhere trying to get home. Only good thing to come out of that mess was my daughter 9 months later.
  15. A couple of years ago my Gyno retired. On my last visit to him before he hung it up he told me he was retiring because, and I quote, "The insurance companies won't get out of the way and let me practice medicine as I was taught to. I'm the doctor who is interacting with the patient and I shouldn't have to get permission from an insurance company to provide medical care that I feel is necessary". He also told me he loved his job and wouldn't be retiring if it weren't for this.
  16. Yep, burglars will look through a freezer but they usually won't take stuff like your Will, insurance policies, home deed, etc... They may find them but will usually leave them behind. We had that happen. The scumbags took about $40.00 worth of meat but left our papers. OTOH, those small fire proof safes they are more than likely going to just pick up and take with them so they can break them open somewhere else other than spending the time in your house. Your important documents will be thrown away or destroyed. They sure aren't going to return them to you...
  17. This is going to sound crazy but our attorney told us to keep our important papers in our chest type freezer. We put them in a tupperware container in there. He said the reasoning is because it won't burn in a fire and it's heavy enough to probably not blow away in a tornado.
  18. I most definitely believe our loved ones communicate with us after they've passed on. My best friend, who was also like a second mother to my daughter, passed away on June 12, 2002. My daughter got pregnant in 2008 with Ellie. Very early in her pregnancy....too early to be able to know the sex of the baby...she told me she knew she was having a girl because Cindy, my friend, had shown her the baby. She had a dream that she opened the door to the nursery in their house and Cindy was sitting there beside a cradle. She said she was smiling at her but never said a word. She just picked the b
  19. Ours was e-filed a week ago. Our federal refund was in our bank account on Tuesday, our state refund came yesterday.
  20. This is key if you have plans to retire, IMO! We did the same thing. We could have afforded to buy a more expensive house, car, etc... but we chose to live frugally for 40 years so we could retire comfortably. We're retired now debt free and not having to worry about how to pay our bills while enjoying being retired. It's a wonderful life!!!
  21. Hubby and I both retired last year. Even though our 401K's took some hits we were able to do it. We worked until we paid everything off so we could retire debt free. It did help that both of our employers offered pension plans so we both do have that as well as distributions from our 401K's. The big thing is retiring debt free. If you're able to do that then you'll do just fine! Good luck!!
  22. Children are not "textbook". They all develop differently. Ellie didn't smile or jabber like most babies do until she was almost a year old. She also didn't walk until 13 months. I was a very worried Granny that something was wrong with her. Today she is a healthy, happy, vibrant almost 5 year old who laughs, talks all the time and is very social. She just didn't do things exactly at the time the doctors and textbooks say she should. Didn't mean anything was wrong with her, though. I'd give it some time and see how your son is doing in another 6 months or so.
  23. Our daughter & SIL went on a Carnival cruise in 2011 and had the time of their lives!! We're going on one in May and are really looking forward to it.
  24. We've been shopping on Wednesdays ever since we retired last year and get the senior discount. We only get 5%, though. Interesting....
