  1. I can't answer your last question but some google fu revealed that it's nothing more than a standard octane booster, only increases octane rating by 0.7, and isn't really "illegal", just it's not used as an additive in US fuels any longer.
  2. An 80 year old lady was marrying for the fourth time in her life. The local newspaper seeing a human interest story in the making calls her up and asks if she would mind talking about her previous husbands, what they did for a living, and what her new husband does. She smiled and said "My first husband was a Banker, then I married a Circus Ringmaster, next was a Preacher, and now in my twilight years, I'm marrying a Funeral Director." When asked why the men had such diverse careers, she explained, "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go!".
  3. 8GB of Memory isn't needed for any OS, but 4GB is the recommended these days to ensure that you're not thrashing the HDD with a bloated page file, and for $10 more, makes sense to pick up an extra 4GB. But Apple charges an extra $300 if you get it from them when you order? Guess they gotta make money somehow. Also I know they'll void your warranty at the drop of a hat if you don't put their "recommended" anything into any of their boxes. The OP, depending on where you're drawing the line on OP in this thread, probably doesn't NEED a new computer, but if you're jumping onto a new
  4. And if you want the 8GB of memory that my off-the-cuff config comes with, just add $300.. Want to go from a 500GB to 750GB HDD, which my build shows, add another $150 to the price.. And no USB 3.0 support.. And no Esata support.. So yeah for around $500 more you can get a Mac-Mini with almost the same specs as my build, minus some features, that you can't use any of your older PC-centric software on unless you pay even more for the MAC version, so that copy of MS Office you paid $300 for in the past, stick that back in the drawer.

  7. I would want to point out that the processors being used today in tablet PCs and Smartphones, while matching clock speeds of processors made 5-7 years ago, are doing much much more with each clock than processors made 5+ years ago were doing. One thing to consider is that in the past processors did only that, process, as fast as they could at the cost of heat output and energy being consumed. Today the market is dominated by smaller processors that can do video processing on the same chip as crunching zeros and ones, process multiple threads, and they do it cooler and more efficiently. The dif
  8. No doubt. It seems to have blown off the candy coated covering of people on here exposing their righteous indignation for daring to discuss anything about the hurricane other than saying "prayers", god effing forbid anyone express an opinion around here, right?
  9. Ft. Lauderdale :p Cocoa Beach baby!!! Can't beat swimming, surfing, and the, now defunct, shuttle launches. All without so many snowbirds and the yearly drunken teenage orgies. Anyways, reports are coming out that there's fuel shortages all up the eastern seaboard, interstates and secondary roads heading west are all jammed, and fuel prices may skyrocket in the next week for those of us on the right coast, including Georgia. Here's a pic from a friends FB page:
  10. Yeah but after Winn-Dixie shut down I think there was interest in turning it into a Walmart Martetplace store. I've heard about the concept for years now, Walmart opening smaller stores up catering to grocery/pharmacy only.
  11. I think, at one time, the Winn-Dixie at Brownsville and Hwy 92 was being considered for one of those stores. But that was quite awhile back and I could be imagining things.
  12. The previous time for them, when the youngest was still a baby, they packed up early and rode out one in Orlando at a top priced Disney resort hotel for several days, when they got back home it was same for them. 4 weeks of no utilities. But that last time, the roads getting off the interstate for anything below Jacksonville were all shut down, and Florida called for the evacuation at the last minute with only 24 hours warning. Just because we can predict a storms intensity and pathing we cannot predict the results of said storm with any degree of accuracy, which either causes everyone t
  13. Friend of mine and his family live below the Cape on the eastern Florida coast, last mandatory evacuation for his area took them over 20 hours to move up the interstate to Jacksonville, then another 8 hours to get through Jacksonville getting onto I-10, the latter part of his trip was constantly getting off at every exit trying to procure at least one room for Him, his wife, his 3 children and MIL, while also attempting to get gas (sold out), get food (sold out), anything, during which the storm was already coming ashore and making driving conditions miserable and dangerous. And this wasn't a
  14. Just so you guys know. I have IT and y'all ain't getting IT back.
  15. You been talking to my wife again haven't you?
  16. The Hiram Cheese Steak. I also have a recipe around here for a "Cowboy Cheese Steak" Where you use cubed steak strips, not breaded, for the meat, fry it until nearly done, then use some Worcestershire Sauce and a smidge of A1 Sauce, and add onions and peppers, stir frying until everything is a wilted messy consistancy. Put into a toasted bun with tons of cheese, wrap in aluminum foil, and warm in oven until cheese is melted. Other than giving the wife and I cowboy butt the next day, they sure were good.
  17. The other day I saw a squirrel with a big ol' pair of nuts. He buried them by a tree.
  18. Just a WAG, but could possibly be the Windows indexing service is running a scan around that time. It wouldn't show up as a process since it's only supposed to run during idle times, meaning it runs all the time but only scans at certain times, usually when it's idle, and this is all dependent on what OS you're running. I noticed when using Vista it would just up and start doing an index scan at the most inconvenient of times. And I subscribe to the thought that just like a politician a windows install will only become more bloated and corrupt over time, once it starts acting goofy the be
  19. Define "the internet". First time I dialed into anything was as a kid in the 80's and called up a library BBS, put the phone into the cups, and saw tons and tons and tons of blocky PR0N. Next time I used it was very early 90's when you had to pay for a Compuserve connection by the minute, my parents sure were pissed. Then there was 1997, when I bought a Packard Bell computer with a 56k modem, to replace my old 386 with a 14.4k modem that wasn't worth trying to use, and got a Prodigy dialup account, and within 3 months realized how much a POS the computer was when I still had anot
  20. Yeah re-reading your first post I realized that, I'm having a bit of an off day. I'll try to answer some of these best I can, but this is one of these topics that the more info you provide the clearer answers you'll get. First, check this link here: AT&T to Kill Grandfathered Unlimited If You Tether Unofficially, the title may be enough but there's some good information there. To get the tablets and have them use their phones for data access you're looking at paying $20 per phone to allow tethering, or taking your chances with getting caught and losing your unlimited plans on the
  21. Tethering is when you use the devices wireless as an internet/data access point for other devices, meaning it allows your phone/tablet device to work as a wireless router for say your laptop. Most data providers make you pay extra for allowing this feature on your device altho it was intended for it to be a "free" feature from Google in their Android OS. DSLR link HERE for tethering See if the above brings up all the news stories on tethering. It's a pretty hot potato issue at the moment.
  22. If any of you folks get one of these and need help setting it up I wouldn't mind coming and doing it. I'd like to see the device in action myself.
