  1. You might be able to find someplace here: https://www.couchsurfing.org/
  2. The CVS at Seven Hills was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday morning by a dark-skinned male. He got away with money and was not caught. Wonder if it is related?
  3. I volunteer for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and Good Mews (cageless, no-kill cat shelter).
  4. I don't understand why parents nowadays do not bring their own items to entertain their own children while they are out. It is not a business's responsibility to do that for them. When we were young, my mother did not take us anywhere without a few books, coloring books, and a (small, quiet) toy. It is very nice of you to do that on behalf of the unprepared parents that don't. I cannot believe the entitlement of the man-child. Unreal. There is no excuse for him. None. Maybe put a sign on the toybox that says "For children 12 & under" or "Toys to share during your appointment"? Otherwis
  5. Once again this year, I will be volunteering at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Type I diabetes (now called "One Walk". Because I am often not able to actually walk the 5k, I will be volunteering behind the t-shirt table. As a type I diabetic of 29 years, this event is so important to me. We try to raise as much money as we can to go towards finding a cure for this horrible disease. It would mean a lot to me if you would consider making a donation to Team "Rookie's Rebels", if you are able. Even if you are not, please take a few moments to read some of my stor
  6. I can tell you who I DON'T recommend - Northwest Neurology in Austell near Cobb Hospital. Maybe their other offices are better, but I didn't like their Austell location. My husband said it reminded him of a garden shed. They had plastic tupperware everywhere. It was weird. The doctor himself (Bejanishvili) was just average, I guess. But the office staff were awful to deal with. They made getting my records an utter nightmare. I'd go with another practice if you can. Good luck.
  7. I'm wondering if she is really the mother of the baby and wanting to know what will happen to her and the baby.......
  8. 110% agree with you. He may be a smart man, but he is probably in this for the wrong reason.
  9. I started going to him many years ago and didn't like him so I left. He has no bedside manner whatsoever. His office is awful and rude. I went through a number of endos because of personal preference, insurance changes, and doctors moving away. Several years later, I ended up in the ER and Rosenbloom was the endo on call. He was very nice to me in the hospital and I was in search of a new endo because my current endo (Dr Smith - she was GREAT) moved back to PA area. So I went back to him, and boy was I sorry I did. He immediately wiped out every single carefully-planned setting on my pump that
  10. I go to Dr Bruce Bode on Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta. He is the BEST. Worth the drive. His office is top notch. He gives you access to free dieticians, CDE's, etc. I've been to Dr Rosenbloom before and he is a nightmare. Honestly, I would treat myself before I let him treat me again. Plus, the wait time in his office is always 1+ hour(s).
  11. I would give it back to the pharmacy and see if they will gift it to someone else who cannot afford it, since you already paid for it. If not, they can dispose of it properly.
  12. Mine has gotten worse, too. I can't straighten either of my index fingers all the way, even when pressing on it. It used to be just my right index finger but now it is both my right and left. I will be calling my doc (Dr Diehl @ Pinnacle) this week to schedule the surgeries!
  13. I read the whole thing. NO WAY should the father have to deal with anyone else besides the mother. The fact that the mother has the father's phone blocked is RIDICULOUS. What if there was an emergency??? The mother is using the children as leverage. She seems unwilling to accommodate the father yet expects him to accommodate her. I think it was very important for the kids to share in their sibling's birth, but it sounded like the father's plan would have been fine. I'm sure the father is probably no perfect angel, but the mother sounds like she has a couple of loose screws. The stepfather may
  14. I bought this finger splint http://www.amazon.com/Oval-Splints-Individual-Ring-Size/dp/B000ITHTZW/ref=sr_1_4?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1408633209&sr=1-4 and it seems to work nicely in keeping my finger straight. I have a feeling that I'll still end up with the surgery anyway, though.
  15. Your topic is of perfect timing! I've had trigger in my right index finger for 5 months now, and it is PAINFUL. It hurts whether my finger is straight or bent. I accidentally banged my trigger finger once and the pain was so bad I practically had the wind knocked out of me. I've tried splinting it, taping it, bending it, everything. Nothing helps. My ortho (Pinnacle) said I have thickened sheaths from my diabetes. He doesn't want to do the cortisone shots because it will give me blood sugar problems (steroids raise blood sugars for several days to a week) unless I really want it. He said I can
  16. This is one of my pet peeves. Background: I grew up without a lot of money. My mom was a single mom of 3 kids and we struggled to make ends meet. She still found a way to send us to the prom, do school activities, put my brother in sports, etc. Whenever we had fundraisers, we asked close family to support us with a purchase or two, and then my mom chipped in the rest of the money so that we could get whatever "prize" we needed - whether it was a place on the team or the smallest girl scout patch. There was no "begging". That would not have even been an option. I grew up on Long Island, in
  17. I have a pair of over-the-ear Sennheiser *headphones* that I use and love, but I don't know if they make them in headsets or not. Might be worth it to give it a look. I hate earbuds with a passion, and over-the-head ones would drive me crazy.
  18. I am so very sorry to hear this. I did not know Kathie, but I have shared private messages with her before. I am glad that she will no longer suffer, but I know that she will be missed. May she RIP.
  19. I will do that! Thank you! That is AWESOME. That is exactly the type of thing that I love to hear. I know for a FACT that my parents would accept the child as their grandchild. In fact, my mother told me flat out that she has a fear for me trying to get pregnant and would PREFER that I adopt. I know for a FACT that my siblings would accept the child as their niece/nephew. And while I have two nephews who live in FL, my niece is an only child and is desperate for siblings. She would love for me to have a child, and would likely be raised extremely closely to our child/ren. My concern l
  20. I am sure that there is nothing like feeling a baby kick inside your belly, or realizing that your baby has your nose, your eyes, or your smile. But there is also nothing like giving a child a good home who might not otherwise have one. I figure that if I can love my niece, nephews, and even my pets as much as I do, that I can love another child like that as well. Thank you for all of your encouraging words as well as your suggestions!
  21. My husband and I want children, but we are not sure that it will happen the good ol' fashioned way due to my health issues (mainly diabetes). We would like to consider adoption. We are not all the way there yet, as I am much more ready than he is. We will not decide to go that route until the both of us are on the same page. However, in the meantime, I would like to start gathering adoption information so that it is there when we need it. I know that the adoption process can be a long one, and with both of us turning 40 next year, we don't have too much time to waste! I'm sure some
