  1. Can you please take a moment to vote for my kitty, Molly, to win a prize from Jackson Galaxy ("My Cat From Hell") and Petmate products? The prize is $100 worth of cat toys, which I need for my 8 rescued cats (including five 6wk old kittens)! If you remember, Molly is the Manx / Maine Coon kitty that I rescued from outside last January. I had been trying to find her a home here on PCom, but I ended up keeping her because she bites and scratches. I have worked with her extensively over the past year and a half, and she is doing a lot better. A vote for her would really mean so much! Just cli
  2. This salivary stone must be different than a tonsil stone then? I've had tonsil stones and they are gross!
  3. THANK YOU. This is the hardest day of the year for me. Today, as well as Father's Day when my dear husband will be overlooked. We cannot have children because of numerous health issues (mine). All that we have ever wanted was to have children. I am pained every day by our lack of children, but today is like a knife in the heart. We are looking into adoption but it is so darn expensive and my DH doesn't want to foster. We have our dog and cats, who we treat and love like they are our human children, but it's still not the same. So my heart goes out to all the women today who are unintentionally
  4. What a beautiful kitty. Please try to get him scanned for a microchip if you can. If you are unable to keep him, please try to get a rescue to take him if he is unsafe outside. Thank you for looking out for this baby!
  5. I am praying for you and your family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
  6. Dog: #1 Golden Retriever, #2 Lab, #3 Lhasa Apso Cat: #1 Maine Coon, #2 ALL others! Whatever the species/breed, they must be from a pound or a rescue. *Note: I currently have 1 golden retriever and 8 cats in my house. I had one cat. Then I rescued Molly last year (you know, my "scratchy/bleedy" cat). Then I rescued a pregnant 1-yr-old cat in my neighborhood a month ago and she gave birth to 5 babies a week ago! Fortunately, I have homes for all the babies, except one (which we are keeping)! And we are keeping the mama! I am no longer allowed to rescue pets because I end up keepin
  7. That's my fave, too! I've gotten a lot of compliments on that "very lucky" shot that I got of her. She doesn't ever stay still for very long!
  8. My husband just texted me a picture of her. Right now, she is downstairs with my husband, watching tv. She's lounging on top of the love seat with her front paws crossed. She's wedged between a blanket and a soft bolster pillow, while looking up at the tv. Yes, I'd say she is happy. And spoiled rotten.
  9. VERY true! My mom still calls her "Psycho", one friend calls her "Crazy Eyes", and just about everyone else tells me that she looks crazy in the eyes. She is a handful, trust me! I am still scratched up but I couldn't bear to put her out. She is a very sweet cat when she wants to be. Only problem is, she usually doesn't want to be! I love her anyway!!! I feel very strongly that she walked up to me and into my life for a reason and that reason was for me to take care of her. I love her dearly and she has a very special place in my heart!
  10. Does anyone remember the 3-month-old stray kitten (Molly) that I found outside in the frigid cold last January? I had brought her inside but I was trying to find her a new home. I wasn't ready for another cat (my previous cat had just died), Molly didn't get along with my current cat, and Molly was aggressive with her very sharp nails. I had ended up finding two different homes for her, but I couldn't bear to give her up. In the meantime, I had fallen in love with her, despite her aggression, and I couldn't give her away. UPDATE: I still have her!!! She is still one heck of a
  11. I told my husband that this is the next vacation that we will be taking.
  12. I am sorry that you are going through this. Something similar happened to an older friend of mine. You will be just fine. Get a good lawyer. Don't move out of the home. He wants to leave? Then he should get out. Even if he doesn't leave the home, make sure you don't either. Open that bank account and take half the money. Today. Lean on your friends and family for support. Maybe find a support group. All will be okay. Hugs.
  13. Thank you all. It is all surreal right now. The treatments are going to be tough on her, especially since she weighs very little. She is being treated at NorthWest Georgia Oncology and will have all the treatments at the Kennestone campus. Everyone we met yesterday was very nice and we felt comfortable with their care. Thank you, RedRose. I did not know about this. We don't meet with the radiologist until next week, but Mom and I walked over to the radiology area and checked it out. We saw that they had a basket for free fuzzy socks to keep patients' feet warm which we thought was sw
  14. Thank you for your nice words, Dana. It feels so strange for our roles to be reversing now as we both get older. And I still cannot get used to the fact that my Mom has cancer. Hopefully I won't get too used to it! She starts treatment in two weeks and should last five weeks. So in seven weeks, we are having a party!
  15. Well, I am happy to report that today's appointment went better than we had anticipated. Mom has what they suspect to be Stage II cancer, but they expect that she will make a full recovery!!! She will need further tests to be sure, and the treatments will not be easy, but all that matters is that she is here and healthy in the end. She will have chemo & radiation every day for 5 weeks. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. They mean a lot to us.
  16. Thank you. I am heading out to pick mom up now. I am freaked out. Praying for some good news. Or at least some not-so-bad news. Will update later. Hugs to you all.
  17. Thank you, everyone. Your suggestions, words of encouragement, and prayers mean a lot to us. Mom has an appointment on Wed with the oncologist and we will learn more then. She's taking the news better than I am.
  18. Thank you all for your prayers and suggestions. You have given me a lot of information to start with. I am very thankful for that! I have taken note of each of the suggestions that you have made. This is all very new to us and we have a lot to learn. And your prayers mean SO much. Mom has an appointment with the oncologist on Wed when we should know more about her diagnosis, treatment, and what to expect. All prayers are appreciated. Thank you again.
  19. My mom was diagnosed with cancer today. Words I wish I never had to say. The surgeon is sending her to an oncologist next week. He did say that he thought it would be treatable, but she would have to have radiation and chemotherapy. Aside from being shocked and crying my eyes out, I want to do something to help her. She is very nervous about losing her hair and she thinks she will "look like a boy" with no hair. I told her that they sell pretty head scarves and chemo caps that she can get. I'd like to buy her a few but I don't know where to go and what to look for. Any recommendati
  20. IT HURTS!!! I had it a few years ago, caused by clenching my jaw. I called my dentist's office and they said to try an OTC mouth guard before spending a lot of money for the one that the dentist makes. I did that and it solved my problem. I got it from Walmart or somewhere and I dipped it into boiling water then formed it to my teeth. It only cost a few dollars and avoided the visit to the dentist and a lot of money spent.
