Don't agree. Our kids can't learn if they are not in school and this year they haven't been in school very much due to the weather. Adding days to the beginning of the year could allow extra days to be added to the calendar for these unexpected missed days. Additionally I don't want to see our local school system ruled any further by our state legislators. I vote year round school, especially for elementary and middle school.

This whole post is silly. Do Yankees drive better in conditions that they have spent their lives driving in. Well duh! We just watch out for the people who haven't got the experience. Now the ice here is a different situation, and we didn't have as many hills where I learned to drive. Additionally, most stop signs/lights are not located on the top of hills because the road builder folks know better. Shoulders are wider and well graveled, we have snow plows and salt trucks galore. We went out on Friday night because we had to, and then again on Saturday morning because we wanted to. No problems

Gracious people! Don't eat the snow. Think about it for just a second. This is water that has passed through our atmosphere! Gross. Go ahead and collect it and then let it melt in a clear glass. It's pretty sickening. Yeah, I ate it as a kid but I also drank red Kool-aid, stuck the tab from my RC in the can after I opened it, played in the mosquito fogger and a bunch of other stuff I would never do now.

Allstate told us directly that we were over insured and that they WOULD NOT pay out more than the current market value even for a total loss. So over insuring was a waste. Home value has gone down so much in most neighborhoods that this is a common problem. That being said I would NEVER insure it for the accessed amount, but it is a place to start. From there you need to figure out the FMV.

We had the Kelloggs company headquarters in one of my towns. They had a huge Arboretum, you know a tree arbor. Anyways, they took the biggest pine and decorated it with tons of lights. It was at the top of a big wide hill where they had also placed spot lights on. The perfect sledding hill. People would have tail gate parties with the kids and sled all day. It was gorgeous at night. The rec center would also put up a skate shake on one of the bigger lakes. They keep the snowmobiles off this one lake and shoveled areas for figure skaters and another area for hockey players. It was a great place

Have the county reassess your home and adjust your homeowners insurance to match. The insurance company will not pay you for anymore than what the house is CURRENTLY worth. So if your paying for say $150,000 home and it's only worth $130,000 you are over insured and just throwing money away. Talk with your agent about this. The company probably won't approach you on this as they are more than happy to take the premiums, but a good agent will.

To bad your parents never owned snow mobiles/machines or drove a snow plow. My dad would get so excited because he equipped his old jeep with a plow and made good $$$ when it snowed. People paid well and gave unexpected gifts.

That's kinda closed minded don't ya think. Alternative school isn't just for "bad" kids. It's original design was for students who don't function well in the government designed classroom. It's an ALTERNATIVE to the traditional classroom. Unfortunately in some counties and school systems it has become kinda of a dumping ground for kids that the systems has labeled as trouble. I know of a child who was labeled as trouble. Turns out it was an unusual case of ADD and dyslexia. This student went to an Alternative school and got straight A's. Excelled in every department.
